Right handed person and I've been pushing the ball consistently to the right since picking up the clubs a couple of months ago. Goes perfectly straight about 20 degrees to the right of where I am aiming. I've read about ways to correct this issue and nothing has worked. Using Callaway Fusion Wide Sole clubs, graphite shaft, and the clubs are the correct length for me.
In frustration, I took a swing at a ball the other day with my right hand only and was absolutely amazed to see the ball go perfectly straight to where I was aiming, and it went far (I was using the PW). Thinking it was a fluke I hit another, and another, etc... All balls went exactly where I wanted them to go. I then started stepping through the clubs and they too were going straight and farther than the previous club. I even busted out a fairway 3 wood and a rescue club with the same results (did NOT try a driver).
Taking nice easy swings, bringing my right arm straight up in the air (about 12 o'clock position) and then accelerating down slightly and turning toward the target before striking the ball. There was a nice "click" sound and the balls were taking off like they had been spanked.
I didn't feel any awkwardness in the swing and was able to hit repeatable shots and control distance like I have never been able to previously. Pitching/chipping also worked the same, just taking 1/4 swings, etc.
My question.. Other than this looking extremely goofy on the course, can I do harm my body in any way? Nothing felt wrong or stressed with the swing. Not looking to play competition ball, only wanting to have fun with family and friends without getting frustrated.
Thanks for your replies.
