  2. you can put a "p" on any club in your bag and think of it as "pitching" the ball. the real bottom line is this: youre allowed to have 14 clubs, one will be a putter, one will be a wood, probably two woods though. that means 11 clubs will be "irons." (or some hybrids) start with 20 degrees and go thru 64 degrees and make sure you evenly distribute how many degrees per club the differences will be, and presto! you have a set of irons. if they let us have 45 clubs, then we'd all have 42 irons with 1 degree difference between them. then we'd complain about why we couldnt have 0.5 degree differences between each club. or we'd pull out the 37, hit the shot 17 yards short and then complain about why we have so many irons to choose from. try this: take two thirds of your irons out of your bag and go to the range and learn to hit all the distances between each iron. youll soon realize, that 14 irons is a luxury that gives you plenty of accuracy and makes you lazy.
  3. hi, i carry driver, 3-p, sandwedge, 60 lob, 64, super lob, and a putter. no complaints. i hit driver about 275-300 depending on how i connect. 3 iron usually 205 carry, 10-15 roll for 220 avg. ptch wdg is about 125-135. so, my sandwedge and lobs are my "accuracy" clubs. i started hitting my 3 wood really poorly about a year ago so i ditched it. traded it in for credit. carried a 2 iron for a while but could not hit it dependably. 3 iron was more accurate. yes, there is a big gap between my driver an 3 iron. i dont care right now. ive thought about picking up a 3w for that gap, but havent bothered. i just lay off the driver if i need to drop a few yards. but honestly, i hit driver when i probably shouldnt. dogleg left or right, par 4, bend is at 200-245. i hit driver over the trees. sometimes i pay for it, but, its just not worth it to hit short to the bend and be that much further from the hole. i like being on in 2 with that second shot being as short as possible. my occasional problem is the short par fours. i hit driver to the green or close but get in trouble there sometimes too. a 3w could force me to be a little more deliberate in that case.
  4. I'm playing mp-14 irons. They are old traditional lofts. Probably 2 degrees weaker than any newer clubs.
  5. no worries, same to you. i would think the same things on any given day about any other guy.
  6. Lihu, golfing dad, thank you. Abu3baid, your assumption is wrong and exposes you as one who is willing to make assumptions. I've read plenty and know what I'm talking about. The zepp device could be wrong. I'm fine with that. The pic below is the sandwedge swing from my zepp of the 121 mph swing. (No ball) I am plenty faster than the average golfer. I don't need to brag or boast. When I saw the 121 mph swing, I figured that maybe I was releasing early and that maybe I could get some of the speed to the ball. Even if the device is wrong my. My mid/high 84-86-88 mph swingspeed makes me happy. Occasionally I connect with 90+ mph swings on the wedges. It's this new level of speed that I'm transitioning into that I need help with. My driver is inconsistent. I go from 105-120 mph speeds. Usually 110 plus or minus a few mph.
  7. The ball went 100 and rolled 2-3 yds after that. Thats a little above average for me. Im usually 90/95 yards with my sand wedge. I will post a swing video today.
  8. Here we go. I went to the range and hit some balls. This is one of my better sand wedge shots. Bent left wrist threw my club off plane. Still working on that.
  9. im in hawaii. i play mamala, klipper, ewa beach, palmer, fazio, ko olau, etc, etc. 362 was on #18 of the fazio course out at turtle bay. 16 inches from the pin! the green is uphill mind you. 5-10 mph tailwind. ive skipped the fairway on 18 at ko olau as well. if youve played it, you know what im talking about. roger dunn pearl city. i play traditional loft irons because they hit high and i like to drop on the target at steep angles. wind will mess me up though. yes i can drive the ball far. sorry you can't. go practice. none of this has anything to do with my question because none of you can answer it. you prefer to talk about the above. why cant i get the 110-121 mph clubhead speed at impact?
  10. those are my numbers. im sorry you find them hard to believe. is anyone actually going to answer the question? or are we going to argue about believability?
  11. 7 iron: 150 on average. but lately ive been hitting 175/185. not consistently though. i play mp 14 irons (traditional weaker lofts) with rifle 6.0 shafts, low kickpoint. ball flight is high. i hit a few mp 4 6 irons at roger dunn and was getting 185/195 with dg x100 shafts. driver: 275/285 avg with occasional 320-330-340. r11s stiff shaft. 9 deg loft i hit 362 once with a little tailwind ive been practicing a lot lately and im getting in tune with a lot of things
  12. ive hit plenty of balls on gc2 hmt and the speed is also 80-86 at impact. but it wont tell me the max.
  13. these swings are without balls. measured on my zepp. at the impact zone im 80-86. just after there is a slight decrease in speed followed by a big increase. this is where my max speed is being recorded. (102-105 avg, max: 121)
  14. yes. not every time. average is 102-105 but just past impact zone.
  15. Hi, I'm swinging plenty fast, just not in the impact zone. i swing my sand wedge 110-120 mph max, but only 80-86 in impact zone. Hand speed is 13-17 at impact and 21-23 mph max, but once again, not in the impact zone. i've thought maybe im releasing early or late, tinkered round with that; no luck. hip turn, spinning out, should i "pause" or "brake" in the downswing? thoughts? thanks, dan
