  1. i'd go with the mp 32 if it was me..theres a nice set on ebay for a good price and some that i can trade in for locally for a good price.. mizuno will be of better quality due to the one piece forged construction, and flawless attn to detail..japanese club.. good stuff the mp32 is basically a blade which is harder to hit than a cavity back, but rewards a good swing..it's a players club for sure, if you want that, go for it, you cant go wrong w/ a mizuno iron
  2. oh, i've just demoed some :) i'm seriously considering a 5-p set like you. the MP 32 is an older set, like a few years or more.. the newer models have new technology in the form of more 'cut muscle' and/or cavity design, depending on model.. as for titleist, most are cast clubs, except for the blades..lol. almost all mizunos are grain flow forged, out of 1 billet of 1025 carbon steel usually. it will say on the head of the club. you're getting better, if you have a proper club that will show you what you're doing wrong, it will force you to either a) quit or b) become a better ballstriker..in my case it made me better and put me in the 70s. the mizunos will be better made, in some titleist clubs the hosel is internally welded to the head, or so the owner of a local store which i didn't buy from that day said..mizuno is 1 piece. titleist= cast except for blades or unless designated on the head mizuno= MP series are all forged, like the titleist blades, but mizuno has a reputation for forging, build quality, and feel go to a golf usa if you have one, they have a net you can hit into or a golfsmith which has a sim
  3. there are no new mp-60s in golf usa except for mickelson style
  4. i never have been a big fan of titleist clubs
  5. The new one they have out. I just so happened to notice ye olde local driving range had a new, never hit 6 iron with a DGS300 shaft in it.. SO I took it out to give it a proper break in. Thin but comfortable at address, nice, not incredible butter feel, excellent accuracy, the best way to describe them would be "pure" irons. No crazy side spin like w/ the G5s (Purchased at golf store, authentic), no clunky operation, nothing there that shouldn't be. Distance was nice, not incredibly long but I did manage to muscle one up about 180 yds..then I hit the G5, promptly dropped it and went to hit my Hogan, which really will tell you how you hit it.. Forgiveness was very good, all I'd ever need. Heavier shots lost distance of course, thin ones didn't lose much but weren't pretty..all shots well in play..a very calm iron, it didn't get overly snappy when you hit it off the screws..on the screws, it feels very nice and flies mid trajectory, good distance, great accuracy. Would I put them in the bag? Damn right.
  6. LOL. theyre good for when im just warming up, but when i start swinging fully, they go high and left. my ben hogan radial 6 iron and cleveland ta5 5 iron are straighter and longer.
  7. The J33/J36 irons are a great deal and look to be well made. Where are they made?
  8. Some ones to look at: Ping G5 Cleveland HiBore XLS / XLS Draw Taylor Made Burner Low torque shaft with high kickpoint would be good. Make sure you get a quality grip too Also hit some drives with your right foot back a little and strengthen your grip
  9. I have a chance to pick up a new set of MP-32s for a good price. A quick look at golfreview.com shows me that the 32s might be better balanced and more sole heavy/heavy period than the 67s. I'm a big guy with a hard, fast, powerful, handsy swing, so I like a heavier head. I err to the left, my G5s are like playing with fire with gas soaked matches when it comes to the draw..I can literally cut the G5 right and it draws back straight. What I want is a club that will still make a decent shot if I swing less than perfectly, but will help me improve by telling me where I hit the ball and make me swing better, like my Ben Hogan Apex Plus irons did back in the day. What do you have to say about each model, and how old are the MP-32s?
  10. it's unbelievably long considering i find the xl dead feeling and hitting
  11. not a quiet driver, surprising considering the xl is
  12. I had a chance to hit one today at the range..9.5 w/ S flex Fujikura Gold shaft. Now I had a HiBore XL that I didn't like, it would go good, sometimes and wasn't particularly long. I didn't expect much out of it since I wasn't impressed with mine, but OMG, it hits HARD This particular range has a 250 yd limit w/ a fence at the end, every shot I hit either hit the fence, sometimes 20+ ft from the ground, or went over it. I'm a long hitter but this might be the hottest driver I've hit..thing is amazing. It looks nice but I'm not enthused by the purpleish paint at the bottom. Any of you have any drivers you like better or would like to talk about? I'm all ears
  13. passssssssssssss
  14. You the man Ben. Personally I like the 1gen forged irons the best. Thanks for the info.
  15. That's how it was when I got my Apex Plus in 2002ish. They wouldn't take a toe hit and keep the ball where it was intended to go, so I had to better my swing overnight, I feel it's what helped me to make it to the 70s. I'll use the G5 for now but I think some X forged are in my near future.
  16. And you didn't even take what I said as badly as the guy you quoted. What I said was in jest, I'm just tired of China making everything. I like Asian people though, welcome and hopefully it was worth your efforts to get here.
  17. That part was in jest. China has overtaken the market on virtually everything, and I'm so tired of it that I'll do my best to buy American clubs, if I have to buy something chinese it'll be at a steep discount or used. I'm not gonna pay $700 to buy something chinese when something US is the same price or a bit more, and I won't play chinese golf balls.
  18. that's mostly where i'm at. i need to practice more and play, but in the near future i'll be looking for a more player type of iron, like the callaway x forged and mizuno mp-xx. clubs need to be more focused on reward for proper ballstriking than ballstriking at all
  19. Well, some of you read where I was happy with my purchase of my G5 irons and how I promptly hated them after a go at the range. This time there was a better swing and plenty of daylight. I had no problem hitting the 5 iron 175ish-190 yards, most around 180ish, having been up for zillions of hours already. ALL of the shots were draws..no fades..a couple went rightish but always drew back. I called my scratch golferish grandpa, but he said it was a good thing and a sign that I was swinging properly. I'm not sure since a draw isn't something you wanna hit to the green since it usually releases and isn't as controlled as a fade. I also hit the i10, and wouldn't pay more for it over my set, they're 15 yards longer as I was almost hitting the 7 iron 180, but it still draws. If I'm not impressed with the G5s on the course, I'll consider the i10 over several demo sessions since there are plenty at the range to choose from, but I'm still thinking about the Callaway X-Forged or a Mizuno MP since I'm sure the draw will be less exacerbated due to the lesser offset. I will say even on the toe these lost little distance or direction, but felt a bit better on the sweet spot and noticably sounded better. I'd almost rather it be less forgiving and to make me swing better. What say you?
  20. If my source is correct, SC=china Mizuno=Japan I don't buy kwalawallawingwang irons, if I have to w/ woods that's one thing, but I still have a choice w/ irons and stones
  21. I feel that Mizunos are the highest quality forged clubs available..they're a little too expensive as far as MSRP goes, but some Callaways cost way more and aren't really relevant to good golfers in some cases (giant fusion headed irons, not the X-Forged, which are gorgeous) SC is like the cigar of putters, Mizunos are about iron purity, SCs are about putter purity, but I never got into the SC series of flatsticks.
  22. The only relevant Titleist club ever to me was the 975 series..I'm a bit old school when it comes to golf, haven't been serious since late 2002 but getting back into it. I never cared for any affordable or common Titleist club, they always looked and felt dead to me. The wedges are good and I couldn't be bothered about the Scotty Cameron line, especially since I've heard they're not made in the USA..for the money they damn well better be.
  23. i'm going to the range later to be sure i hate them.
