  1. I also noticed the FREE basic mode on the website this morning. This is a great move. I probably won't leverage it often because I am pretty hooked on the Pro view. After playing just my second round and course with my uPro it would be hard to get around without the images. I probably would have jumped in sooner though if they were offering free basic mode before. BTW, they did get the course I needed mapped in time. Can't say enough about the customer support help.
  2. Great ball but clearly depends on your game. Sometimes spins too much for me. I like Bridgestone's full line, the B330s are great and the e5 and e6.
  3. I finally broke down and went to see the uPro in person at my local golf shop and was really impressed. Based on this and the reviews (thanks again Mr.Useless) I deciced to buy one and take it out this weekend and had a great time with it. Having all of the distances on the actual images, updating as you move is a big deal and I found it extremely useful out on the course. Additional initial thoughts: - Customer support is the best I have ever interacted with. Take this as a preliminary report as I have only had the product for four days. However, I have called 3-4 times now to ask all kinds of questions. I'm sure that some of these questions could have been answered by their website or product manual. Not only have they answered my questions but really assisted me in getting to know the product and how best to use it. I have never seen anything like this before. - Accuracy was great. I went out on Saturday and the distances appeared to be correct with everything that I could compare with. Talking to one of the customer support guys later on Saturday he gave me a simple and what should have been obvious way to check the accuracy on the course using the pro view. I went back to the course and tried this out on Sunday and was really impressed. - Course downloads are slower than I would like. This is not a big issue for me as I don't anticipate adding new courses every day but something to be noted. - Shot measuring function (noted in this thread) does not give a running distance. This is not as useful without this. - Battery life seemed good. I finished the round and had greater than 50% left on the battery. - The ability to measure to anywhere on the image is extremely useful. - I am not a fan of the "basic mode". This is the same as all the other units on the market and I am not sure that they need it. I will be using the pro view exclusively. It doesn't hurt that they give you this for free but I don't understand the need for it. - Hole did not automatically change for me on two holes during the round. I followed up with one of their customer support guys again yesterday and asked about some of the issues that I noted here. Specifically, the hole change issue that I encountered and the shot measuring feature. Refreshingly, the young man (whose name I won't mention in case his boss is monitoring) stated that he was aware of these two issues and agreed with the assessment. He mentioned that they will be releasing a software upgrade to all users in the next couple of weeks that resolves these two issues as well as others and adds "other" features. He would not go into any more details as he said there will be an official announcement. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase. I have had a great time using the product but I am really impressed with the support. I truly hope that this continues with the course availability. They have promised me that a course that I need for Thursday will be available at the latest Wednesday so I am hoping that they will continue to be responsive and I will be able to test it out on the course again this week. Thank you again to everyone who has been providing reviews and comments. It really helped me with the decision.
  4. That sounds great. They carry it at several stores here locally. I'm going to try to see it in person today or tomorrow before making a decision. I'm playing on Saturday and would love to be able to try it out then. Another question, they have nearly all of the courses near me available. However, the course that I am playing next Thursday has an "availablity date" that is a couple months away. How have they been on getting to your requests for a course? Do they listen to requests? I am thinking of calling them and asking them about this before I buy but I don't know that I will get the correct answer.
  5. I have been thinking about getting a GPS unit for a while and stumbled across this thread. I really appreciate the time and effort put into the review and responses Mr.Useless. This is extremely helpful. I still haven't made up my mind but I am leaning toward a uPro based on your review and replies. I was originally concerned about the number of courses in my area but that has changed significantly since I started monitoring in the Jacksonville area just as you mentioned it probably would. I went back to the site after seeing a commercial for the product on the Golf Channel this weekend. They have recently posted some video flyovers of Valhalla that look great. Is the resolution of the screen good enough to actually show enough detail? By the way, I noticed that they are running a contest where the winner gets to play Valhalla and gets a free uPro. This would make my decision significantly easier.
