  2. I don't know where you play but my parents lived in Florida for the first 25 years of their retirement. Dad played at least three times a week until he physically couldn't do it anymore. He felt somewhat like you in that he was contemplating giving up the game because he couldn't score the way he used to. I went to visit him and played the course he belonged to. They had stopped calling any tees "Ladies" years prior because of the growing retired population at the course. Instead, they geared their tees toward handicap. Furthest back - scratch. Next set forward - 7 or less, etc. All tees were competitive for that level of golfer, male or female, young or old. Based on your abilities, you played the Black, White, Black & White, Blue & Orange, Black & Yellow. Dad had been playing the White tees since he'd arrived there 15 years prior. He was devestated every time he turned in a score card over 100. There was an explanation of the tee boxes on the score card. I talked to the local pro to insure I understood the concept. A few days later we played another round. Being a 14, I moved up to the Black& White tees. Dad refused to do the same until I "stepped" on each of his first three tee shots. The next time I visited, I played the Black & Whites and he played the Blue & Orange. We had a great, competitive round and had fun at the same time. Play it forward, play for fun, play the game.
  3. I find it a true shame to learn a company that I once dealt with, had a great relationship with and offered a product one could really learn with has fallen from grace in so many eyes. I have owned a Medicus driver & 5 iron for about 10 years and I still use them before practicing and before rounds. They really help me keep my swing on plain. I really don't mind the slower backswing because it really helps an old man (47 when I started using them) stay slow and steady in the backswing then lets me release full bore going foward. At 57 I am hitting my Diablo 9.5 degree farther and straighter than driving at any other time in my life. 250+ is the norm with a hefty 270 final tape via gps and the scorecard is not unusual. For me, that's more than enough.
  4. I couldn't agree more. Go try as many different clubs as you can, figure out what you like best, compare those to your current set to help ease the transition or to see if you are really gaining anything. If you decide to pull the trigger on a new set, get fitted fot them. Your new clubs should fit you, you shouldn't have to change to fit new clubs. ;-)
  5. I found neither to feel very substantial when swinging them. I like to feel a little weight behind my irons. Two weeks ago I hit the clubs you mentioned plus Titleist AP1 & AP2 714's. All were standard/standard, the Titleist felt the best and performed the best. The AP1 is noticeably more forgiving. As a baseline, I also hit my 10 year old Infiniti 302's and found they were still within 7 yards (max) of the Titleist. I put $800 back in my wallet.
  6. So, after all this discussion and all the supporting chatter for "quality" clones and component club makers you've never offered a link to the website you initially referred to.
