  1. I'm still on 2 wedges, but I'm at 13 even after the new SW shows up. Thinking about adding an AW in there.
  2. I had not heard that. I'll have to try them out. Anyone have any experience with their service?
  3. No offense taken, I don't use the full limits of the equipment, that's for sure. The only 2 features I care about are low spin (to keep it straight) and similar feel on the green (although I could get used to anything, I guess). Thanks for all the advice. Reading here has been a huge help to me.
  4. I know ball choice has as much to do with personal preference as anything, but I'm hoping for some advice to narrow my search. About me - I'm a hook monster out of the tee box. I'm not very good inside 100 yards. I'm ok with long/mid irons, and I'm a decent putter. Last season I started using the Nike Ignite ball exclusively. I found that I liked the feel when putting just fine, but I really loved the lower spin off the tee. I changed a lot of things in my game last year, but I credit the ball for much of what's going right in my game. The price was pretty reasonable, too. Bad news is, it looks like the Ignite ball is going off the market. Before I go buy every ball I can find, I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for simlilar balls. I know I'll need to practice to find what I like on the greens, but the low spin/straight drive issue is my real question. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone.
  5. I buy online mostly. I either research the crap out of it online or buy in a store and restock online (balls, etc.) I'm considering picking a driver based on demos locally but buying online. I'd feel bad, but when you can get a $300 club for less than $100 online, its hard to justify that the sales pitch or demo was worth $200.
  6. Honestly, it was SO MUCH of a change that I didn't have any issue with any one detail (except the setup line). The extra weight didn't really get my attention until I was off the range and on the course, now that I think about it. I liked the extra weight, because it helps me feel my swing, so I actuall liked it. That was kind of a joke. The best single move I ever made was taking my 2 iron out of my bag entirely. My best club, in either set, is my 3 iron. I understand that to be a real rarity, but it is the only club that I feel I can really "work" with, from changing launch trajectory to pulling off a draw/fade. Somehow, that all goes to hell when I go from the 3 iron to the 2. I'd like to find a good deal on a Slingshot 2 Iron, come to think of it.
  7. I went straight from playing Wilson Tour Staff FG-17s (2i-pw) to my current Nike Ignites. I have played the blades since I started 5 years ago, but only started playing a lot this year. The blades were, honestly, a lesson in tough love. I learned golf under the premise that if I did something the least bit wrong, I was going to pay a horrible, horrible price. The tradeoff was that I really felt good when I hit a good shot, and I could do a good job of diagnosing what I'd done wrong if I screwed up. As has been said, I could tell you where the ball went without looking. The Ignites, by contrast, feel the same no matter how you hit em. That took a while to get used to. It doesn't bug me now, though. The difference is that I've developed the confidence with the Ignites to play something that more closely resembles golf. Before, if I had a sand trap in front of the pin, I'd always aim left or right and play safe, because I didn't have a great chance of getting over. Now I actually think about the shot, what I need, and what I can accomplish. The first time that I had the guts to go for a green, over the water, 160 yards out, was fantastic. With practice and equipment changes, I've gone from the 120s to the 100s this year. I'd estemate that about 5-8 strokes have come off because of the Ignites. However, after reading this thread, I'm really tempted to pull out the old blades and see if I'm man enough to hit a 2 iron blade out of the rough. EDIT: One more thing I miss on the blades - the thin line at set-up. Took me forever to realize that shots with the Nike clubs didn't line up by themselves like they did with the Wilsons.
  8. For what it's worth, I've gone from shooting 120s to shooting 100s this year. I think its about 50/50 between my equipment and my playing more, but one of the best moves I think I made was going to Nike Ignite as the only ball I play. first of all, I've found the consistency and confidence I get from always playing the same ball is important, no matter what that ball is. But the Nike Ignite has made my hooked shots hook a lot less, keeping me in the game. I also can get just a little bit of backspin with mt SW, which is amazing to me. I would say, whatever you pick, just buy a ton of them at once. Playing one ball consistently, to me, might be more important that playing the right ball.
