  1. I always try to swing "under" my body. Like skipping a rock. If you do that, the first move is not a shoulder move, but an arm move. I'm never over the top
  2. yes, yes, yes, to all of them on one day or another. Most of the time I can handle it with mild irritation, but the one that will ruin a good round is SLOW PLAY. I get that it takes a little time to decide on a shot, or figure out a break on a hard put, or even line a putt up, but really, is every shot that difficult? Besides, most slow play is caused by people piddling and not paying attention to the task at hand, which is hit the freaking ball. Tournaments are the worst because the shots actually mean something. You have 150 guys that believe its OK to take 5 minutes over a two footer because they can't decide if it breaks 1/4 of an inch or 1/8 of an inch. 6 hr rounds are common. When I mention that our group is out of position and I don't want to be penalized, I have had guys actually respond with, "I don't care about a penalty, I will not hit until I am ready". Good Lord, what happens if the idiot can't pull the trigger? Will we wait all day? You don't have to play good, but be ready when it is your turn. Now I feel better.
  3. I have many time - even in light sleet and snow. It's hard, but really fun, but you have to walk or you never get warmed up.
  4. check the loft of the 5 iron. It may be a bit strong. Also, you might be getting better contact with the 5 iron because it is a bit shorter than the 3 and 4, so it will go farther. I was having the same kind of problems between my 5 and 4 iron. I hit the 4 good, but it was always lower, so it would not carry any farther than the 5, but it would roll a lot more. So, I would hit the 4 when I needed roll, and the 5 when I did not. That is until I bought a hybrid 4. Since then I have added a 3 and a 2 hybrid. 220 is no longer an in between yardage.
  5. I swing like Moe Norman. I have been modeling my swing after his for just over 10 years. I Learned my watching him live in Florida during the winters, then on video and trying to copy the feelings he was describing. It took me two or three years to really learn the right feelings in my swing. Now I can hit it where I'm looking 95% of the time, and when I'm on, I feel I can hole just about any shot. But more importantly, I model his attitude. My golf did not start to get real good until I let go of all preconceived expectations and simply hit the ball. Moe's attitude was always go hit the ball, go find it, and then hit it again. After all the only thing you have to lose is a dumb little ball.
