  1. I tend to be a picker of the ball and would like to hit down on the ball more with my irons. I believe i need to move the bottom of my swing forward (in front of the ball) and lengthen or flatten the bottom arc of my swing. It seems to me that if the sternum is on a line thru the bottom of the arc, and if the sternum starts ,at address, even with or behind the ball, then there has to be some lateral movement of the upper body to where you want the swing to bottom in front of the ball. Is that the way to move the bottom of the swing forward? Second part is how do you flatten the arc at the bottom?
  2. I bought a used set of MP 33's recently, although an 11 hdcp, and like them. My scores are no better, but no worse, and my iron play in general is not less than before. What i seem to notice is that on mishits distance is really affected, but the ball seems to hold its line better, less side spin. Is there any equuipment-related reason that would be true?
  3. I've always been weak in chipping and pitching, My golf buddies say I try to lift it/ flip it. My best contact is generally low on the club face. I know "play it back in the stance, firm left wrist", but you see conflicting advice about hitting with just body rotation vs. more of an shoulder/arm swing with quiet lower body and wrist break or hinge vs. quiet hands. Thanks for any help.
  4. I'm trying stack and tilt, so far only 6 rounds. Progress is slow. There's so much new to think about. Generally, I have fewer fats and thins but a fairly consistent push that is mostly straight, but fades more than draws. Suggestions?
  5. I'm an 11 handicap wondering if I should play with blades. I had Mizuno TZoids Pro ll and switched to a blended set of Titleist AP1 and AP2. I just do not like the feel of the AP's so I went back to the TZoids and my iron play is better overall but I do get less out of the Mizunos on toe hits which I do too frequently. I am thinking about a set of MP 33's but want feedback about that club in general and whether it will play similar to the TZoids. Thanks for any help.
  6. I'm wondering how most of you feel about an early wrist cock. I read that an early wrist cock is helpful in getting the club on plane, particularly in avoiding taking the club too inside on the backswing. Some, like Haney, say do it early and it is more of a cocking than a hinging. Others say do it early but more of a hinging. Others, like Steve Stricker's swing, seem to use very little wrist setting at all. Some say don't do anything intentionally but let the weight of the clubhead set the wrists, mostly at the top. Thoughts?
  7. I am having the same problem on short putting. I have a Rife Bimini, which is a Wilson 8802 style, toe down. I putt very well with an arcing stroke on long putts, but can't let the toe release on short putts. Very interested in comments.
  8. I use a heel shafted, toe heavy putter and an "open the gate close the gate" (arcing) stroke. It works very well for me on long putts, not as well on short putts. I like to take a slow and long backswing , accelerating coming through, but it's hard to do on those short, esp. downhill, putts. Any thoughts?
  9. Thanks for the response. Any ideas about why I'm hitting low on the clubface?
  10. I am a poor chipper and know that my biggest problem is lack of confidence which causes decel and a lifting motion . I also consistently hit near the center but at the bottom of the clubface. I constantly experiment with wrist break/ no wrist break, wt shift/ no wt shift. Any help is appreciated.
  11. I have a 2009 Burner, which had the longer shaft(46 1/2 ") and was a very light shaft. I replaced the shaft with the proforce V2 and am very pleased with the change.
  12. I recently purchased a 2009 Taylor Made Burner after hitting a Titleist 983k for years (and not really having a good reason to change). With the new driver, I push and fade (right + right) too much, so today I changed the shaft to a pro force v2 stiff, thinking the extra length and the lightness of the Burner shaft was part of the problem. Did I make a mistake?
  13. Would upgrading from the Titleist 983k to the 905r be much of an upgrade?
  14. Thanks. I did not mean to suggest that the problem was an equipment problem. I wonder if on short putts I am sometimes too conscious of arcing open and then because on the short backswing on a short putt, I either can't let the face square or Iovercompensate for the arc and over close the face withmy right hand.
  15. Thanks, I agree about alignment, but it's harder than you would think to fine tune alignment on short putts.
