Who's played St. Andrews on this forum?
Beretta_Shooter replied to jcard71's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
I played Old and New in '03. We wrapped up the last round on the Old at 8:00 pm and two members of the R&A; came out and invited the two of us into the clubhouse for drinks. Playing the old course was awesome, having drinks in the clubhouse was life changing. One of my favorite memories of the stop in SA was sitting in the outside area of the Jigger having pints when I saw a ball coming at us from the 17th tee over the hotel and was too drunk to react or tell my table mates there was inbound fire. The ball landed in the middle of our table and smashed pints glasses everywhere. -
Go Blue!!!

What are you guys nuts? Have we all lost sight how difficult midget tossing is? I was going to go for cat juggling or seal clubbing but I think midget tossing takes the cake.

I actually misspoke. The putter head was $29.95. I think the shaft for it was $9.95 I can't seem to find it on the receipts. I hope I ordered one. -
I saw that one. The guy was awesome. On the History Channel they did a special where they showed Knapp throwing single apsrin tablets in the air and hitting them with a .22. That was incredible.

Building A Complete Component Set
Beretta_Shooter replied to Beretta_Shooter's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Serious. I will skimp and save everywhere in my life but those three catagories. I am actually having it done by the manager of the local Golf Galaxy. I have asked him to show me how it is done the first time around. He built my driver and seemed compitent. I currently switch back and forth between MP-14's and Deep Red Tour II's. My wedges are Clevelands and I am building Lynx Black Cat Tour wedges from components. It is a black 8802 style. -
The golf ball thing was just an idea I had at the range. I think it would be fun to try.
-
The only things in life I do not skimp on are Golf Equipment, Firearms and Coffee brands. Everything else I buy generic. That being said I am throwing caution to the wind and I am going to build a complete set of golf clubs from components. I received the majority of the stuff today from Golf Galaxy and Golfsmith and should begin the assembly tomorrow. I really want to see what the differences are between high end OEM and a complete set I am going to build for around $600. I ordered: Maltby KE4 Tours- 5-PW- These came today and I must admit they look really nice. I had swung the 4I at GG and it felt pretty good. The one I had was pretty beat up so I could not get a good feel for the quality. I am pleased with how they look. Snake Eyes Viper XT Hyrbrids 21 and 24 degrees- Again these look quite nice. I had never seen or hit them so it was a leap of faith. Lynx Black Cat Tour 3w & 5w- Have not been delivered yet. Never seen or hit them.Fingers crossed. Maltby CT250 PRO Driver w/ Aldila NV 65 Shaft- I have had this since early Feb and it is quite a nice driver. There is no torque in the shaft and I have yet to hit a hook or draw. Might reshaft. Snakeyes ProLaunch 65 Wood Shafts- These look exactly like the Graffaloy shaft I have in my Titleist Driver. I bought three so I might stick one in my Maltby driver. FST 115 Pro Stepless Shafts- Came today and look like stepless shafts. Can't say much about them yet. Snake Eyes ProForce Graphite Iron Shaft- Came today as well. I bought them for my hybrids but it seems I made a mistake. They do not fit into the hybrids head. Will keep posted. Lynx Black Cat Tour Wedges 55 & 59- These also look fantastic. I am going to bend them to 56 and 60 to match my Clevelands that I currently play. Snake Eyes Viper Tour Putter Head- Has not arrived but for $10 if I hate it I am not going to be that upset Snake Eyes Putter Shaft- Not Arrived yet. When I started the process I was going to have fun with it and go as cheap as possible. As I got started I ended up uping my price points so this experiment had a fighting chance. I will post some pix when I get them all shafted and ready to go.

Graphite Iron Shaft in a Hybrid
Beretta_Shooter replied to Beretta_Shooter's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Well I just found out the answer to my question. Fedex just came and the iron shafts are too big in diameter for the hybrid. Am I dead in the water or is there a solution? -
I just like to shoot stuff. Besides playing golf there is little in this world I derive as much pleasure as shooting things. I never really got into blowing stuff up, but man I like to shoot stuff.

Graphite Iron Shaft in a Hybrid
Beretta_Shooter replied to Beretta_Shooter's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Hi Neon- I just ordered and am waiting delivery on a few Snake Eyes shafts for some hybrids. I can give you an update after I install them. They were $12.97 each. -
Graphite Iron Shaft in a Hybrid
Beretta_Shooter replied to Beretta_Shooter's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Power_fade- The tip diameter on the shaft I ordered was .370. Will that fit into a hybrid head? -
Hi David- When I was conjuring the image I had the shooter standing next to the golfer and the ball going away. I would really like to see someone try this.
-
I bought a bunch of components online and had a question for the forum. Does anyone here have their hybrids shafted with a graphite iron shaft? If so any feedback? I would also take any other thoughts someone might want to contribute. Thanks!
-
I was hitting my LW on the rangelast night. I hit my LW about 95 yards and it goes a mile up in the air. A question crossed my mind while watching a ball fly: If someone else hit a full LW, could you take the ball out of the sky with an open choked 12 gauge?

Stupid question about club fitting

The answer to both of your questions is "yes". -

I had heard the same thing but was unsure. -
Does anyone have any feedback on the above mentioned shaft?

Beretta_Shooter replied to Beretta_Shooter's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Well I think I saved some money. I had a set of Wilson Deep Red Tour II's lying around that were given to me by a Wilson rep 5 years ago. I hit them yesterday and they might just fit the bill until I get my groove back :) -
I don't know. I was in Golf Galaxy the other day talking about club fitting and the sales guy was steering me towards building a set around the Maltby heads. have you ever hit one?
-
Has anyone ever played with, hit or had any experience with Maltby heads?
