  1. Just throwing it out there! I just ordered my new set yesterday!! Titleist Ap2 4-GW Project X 6.0 Plus 1" 2 deg up mid-grip I can't wait to get out there with them! Unfortunately I won't have them by this weekend and I'm sure using my old set just wont' be as good for Sunday's round.. Oh well just sharing the big news!!!

    Iron Covers?

Haha - Thanks for the work day entertainment fellas. I'm sticking to my guns on this one - you won't find me getting those damn club covers.

    Iron Covers?

I'm tellin ya I agree completely - I heckled my bro-in-law so bad he threw them in the garbage.. It's going to be like buying new shoes.. I'll worry about every nick and ding for a couple rounds then I'll just not care anymore

    Iron Covers?

    Lol.. that was pretty good.
  5. Played the first round of the season this past weekend. I've been hitting the range in the off-season so my iron play was fair with the exception of a few chunky shots, but I hit most greens. The flat stick however, was just no where to be found .. I was shaking like a leaf even on little 3 footers and blowing it by the hole. I ruined my round by three even four putting on numerous holes! How do I get out of this fast!?

    Iron Covers?

Ok so I'm getting the AP2's and everyone is telling me to get club covers because they're going to get all ding'd up in my bag. (first time forged player) The problem is - I've always given people a hard time who have club covers on their irons.. idk..call me an a**hole I just do But I know I'll be upset if I start seeing my irons getting beat up. Some insight? Do they get that bad if you don't cover them? I know this is a stupid thread but figured someone else out there was thinking it too
  7. I actually just got a brand new vokey 56 plugged 1" and it feels terrible. I had my previous wedge plugged 1/2" and got used to it and loved it, but wanted to stand a little straighter at address. Maybe its going to take some getting used to but the short chips around the green feel too long and loopy.. I don't have the touch... thinking about cutting it down 1/2". did they bend your club head to 3 degrees on the vokey? I too need a 2 degree upright
  8. I have the 2007 S9s now.. There definitely a super game improvement club where as FP are considered more "intermediate." If you are already playing the FP's down take a step back to the S9s. Great clubs dont' get me wrong..I love what they've done for my game but its time for a little more finess. The FPs will give you more control than the S9s.
  9. I've swung the DG's and I just like the feel of the Project X shafts better. It feels less "whipy" to me. I think the 6.0's are the way I'm going to go. Just wanted to get some reinforcement from the field. Thanks guys
  10. I'm 6'5" and I have been playing 1/2" over and 2* upright for a couple years. I'm getting a new set this month and will be ordering them 1" lengthened and 2* upright. For me the 1" is enough to make a difference but not drastic. You notice it when swinging a stardard length club. As mentioned above if you get forged clubs they are very easy to have bent up without damaging the club head. For me 1" is more than enough and doesn't alter the weight of the club to the point that it is noticebly heavy. I usually plub my wedges. My last wedge was plugged 1/2" and I just got a Vokey plugged 1" over. Not sure if I can have the vokey bent upright or not .. I haven't looked into it. but I dont' really notice too much of a difference in club weight as well. Overall I think 1" longer and 1.5 - 2* upright is perfect. 5* upright just seems absurd. Good luck!
  11. I know - the catch is that I was "fitted" at Golfsmith but a local shop near me is giving me the best price. When I was at Golfsmith I wasn't hooked up to the simulator. it was just opinion that this guy was giving me. So I don't really know... I like to demo at a real range to see the ball flight the whole way through - and they only have a standard club
  12. Getting fitted for a new set of Titleist AP2's and was wondering if anyone out there is swinging 6.5 stiffness Project X rifled shafts? One rep told me I should be swinging 6.5's or 7.0's but I think that might be too drastic for me. I've been swinging 5.5 demos and although seeing decent accuracy, agree I need more stiffness because of some ballooning or some last second fades...but 6.5 may be too much. Not sure of my swing speed but I'm 6'5" 245 lbs and I can hit it. This is my last big decision with these sticks...Any suggestions? - I'm just really unsure
  13. I think I found my shop - $800 custom fit . Thats the best I"ve been finding around here.
  14. The Cobra FP's are a nice Game Improvement set. Worth taking a look at and not as bulky as most GI clubs. The Nike CCI cast irons are nice as well and offer a pretty thin top line. Both are good sets
  15. Just bought a brand new Vokey SM 56 the other day, took it to the range and man is it sweet. I dont' know about everyone else - but in my opinion Titleist is Titleist. Theres a reason they are the best manufacturer of golf equipment. Quality product at a fair price point. Go with the Vokeys
  16. I agree - which club was it? Did you have to customize your set?
  17. Did you buy them ? what stiffness are the shafts on those ? I'm glad I found this! I have actually been demo-ing both the MP 52's and the Titleist AP2's for a few months now. I played one round with a set of AP2 rentals in Hawaii and loved them. But the MP52 irons are very nice as well. I've been hitting both irons basically once a week at least for a month now and also need my clubs +1 inch and 2 deg up 6.0 stiffness. I've been going back and forth for some time now about which sticks to pull the trigger on between these two. Both sets are really nice - a well struck shot has a nice buttery feel and mis-hits are quickly noticed. I like them both...but for me the AP2's just seem to be a little more accurate and don't necessarily penalize you as much as the 52's do on mis-hits. I am also a fan of the Project X shaft and like how my shots seem to be more penetrating and little more lower trajectory than balloon high shots with the S300's which come stock on the Muzuno MP 52 set. Overall, after a good amount of homework - I'm going with the AP2's w/ Project X 6.0. If you are like me and you have completely out grown your "super game improvement" set and are ready to start seeing lower scores.. this will be a good set well worth the hefty price tag. Which leads me to my next question.. Where do I find the best deal on these now? I've been seeing some decent prices.. but would love to find something in the $750 range for these. They were practically giving them away at the North East Golf Show this past weeken but with all standard specs. If anyone knows of some good shops who will work with you... please let me know.
