  1. Well, i already posted my launch monitor results, they were very similar to yours, only difference is not sure where you are but im in the desert at just about 3000ft with very firm conditions and mostly elavated tee boxes
  2. Ok duff, now imagine you only have to count 2 drives on par 5s one with wind and one against wind with no regard of whether or not its in fairway? Thats how the pga measures, wouldnt you thinks its not absurd that you would be somewhere close to the pga average of 288, i know most of our whole game isnt as complete as are thiers, and im not saying theyre not good, but some stats are achievable by us regular guys too, we just dont have the whole package
  3. As far as taking time putting, i dont see that to be too big of an issue, i mean, i get it, thats where your score can really matter, just imagine if we had to deal with people who played like they were in the pga, ie walking all around green, you know, all that stuff that seems to take forever on tv, thank you dvr!
  4. I agree with one of those reasons whole heartedly, i see it all the time where people arent ready, one guy hits, gets back in cart, other guy gets out other side and has to figure out his shot, they drive 30ft to thier ball, a lot of times they can park in a happy medium where they could each walk a few paces, im not talking unrealistic numbers either like 50 yds but if your only 20 yds y not
  5. And i agree with you on that jon, i guess my initial frustration with playing back is due to the fact that the course i play it does make a good difference in yardage and for some reason it always seems to be very young, in age and experience, that insist on saying "i played from the tips" ive just been unfortunate to be stuck behind the ones that dont seem to be breaking 100, its 100+ degrees and we're waiting forever for them go find thier balls and hack it out 10 yds, if you know what i mean. Ive said it before and i'll say it again, it doesnt matter how far you drive, but if your scoring 120 and theres group after group piling up behind you, maybe show some consideration and move up to where maybe it will be a little more manageable.
  6. Well, what do pga average distances prove, they only measure 2 holes a round?
  7. A couple other guys know what i mean because they made the same mistake of mentioning they hit it far too, then the crowd turned on them, im sure a lot of people lie on the internet, but we're in a golf forum not a dating forum, what happened to honesty, integrity, etc. arent they supposed to be a big part of golf?
  8. Hello! The op was about playing it forward, the crowd seemed to find it more interesting to try to implement me as a liar and they never seemed to wanna go anywhere else with it. As far as ball flight laws i tried this thread to get away from you and your buddy who wouldnt let me speak, just kept sending me dead links, you or any of those guys have given me an acceptable response, just say thats the way it is and go to this dead end link
  9. Well duff, i guess because my numbers tell people i should be a certain hndcp, but in fact im not and its mostly my putting which never seems to be factored in to thier equations, i hear it almost every time i play, people tell me to got to some kind of putting school and i could be closer to a scratch golfer, theres always comments on my putting and how nice my swing is but the numbers dont match what one would expect if one just saw me hitting balls
  10. I have a question for everyone? There are some on this site that insist im wrong, but im having a hard time believing. I say the ball starts on the path you swing and direction is determined by the face, they are trying to tell me im completely wrong. I said but a draw, not a hook or pull, a perfect hit draw comes from an in to out path with the face closed to that path, a fade would be out to in with face open to path, the push would be in to out with face square to path, push slice in to out with open face, pull is out to in with face square to path, slice is out to in with open face, and a hook is face way too closed with any swing path, have i lost my mind cuz theyre insisting im wrong, theyre trying to say its only the face that matters and worse part is they say the slice is out to in with closed face, why then are we taught than in bunker or flop shot we aim left, open face, and swing left? I feel like im in a twilight zone!
  11. Ok, im back, 1st of all let me say i apologize for so many taking my original post examples to heart, it was merely meant to be just that, an example. Now, i have shown you my launch monitor numbers without my driver, just with a club i picked up off the shelf, along with the fact that im at about 3000 ft above sea level in the high desert with very firm conditions, they put my smash factor at 1.46 now the part most dont seem to get, when i say its my average i feel pretty confident in that because there are only 8 holes on my course in which i can even hit driver, those are where space is sufficient, most people i play with there will use driver on like 14, so you see, my average is coming from 6 less drives than most would have to calculate in, i hit a fairly high draw, and honestly theres not much trouble to get in on those holes, and we all know know it doesnt have to be in the fairway to count. Too many people feel distance goes hand in hand with hndcp, i assure this is false, i played today and shot 84, with 41 putts! So you see, my overall game is ok, my distance is good, but my hndcp is my putting! We need to stop looking at charts and such to determine how well someone plays or should play, i am living proof of that and im sure a great number of you will agree thats true for your game too! Now, maybe we can back on track here and hear from anyone who has tried to play it forward and what success they may have had.
  12. Why do we hear that more and more pros are swinging left these days to avoid the hook/push?
  13. Funny, ive never seen anyone hit a fade by swinging right, and never seen a draw from swinging out to in, isnt the worlds biggest golf affliction the big slice? Starting left and curving way right, according to these new theories how could that even be romotely possible?
  14. Ya ball flight laws was a dead end! Anyway, im not buying into that theory, it only makes sense that the ball will start on the path you swing and the face will determine its flight, if you close your face and swing in to out, you will draw /hook the ball, if the face is square to the path it will be a push, if its open it will be a push fade/ slice, same goes for opposite
  15. I believe the push is caused by swing path, the curvature would be dictaded by the face
  16. Hey, i know a few things have been hit on here but for me what really stuck out the most in the down the line shot was how you stand up, your butt goes towards ball severely, which from what i know means your coming out of your posture, try sticking something behind you and make sure you feel it on your butt the whole time
  17. This will be my last post on this site, seems to be a lot of riff raff here, probably a bunch of the same clowns that have turned a nice leisurely 3hr round of golf into a 5 hr waiting game. Ive proved myself as well as i can, you just dont get it, everyone seems to think if your long you have to be good, nobody argues with a long drive competitor, most of them will tell you they dont score well, does that mean they cant drive it 400+, i know what i can do and so do the people around me. Guess its all the same macho testosterone filled jakwads i see all day long on the course, oh well, im out! Shanks for nothing jakwads!
  18. Ya and from what others in my group say, they have trouble dealing with thier own game on off weeks too! Its something that i dont wanna give up though cuz its with all people from my community including my dad, we have tried some different formats but most just always wanna go back to normal best ball scramble, oh well, guess im just gonna have to focus more on me. The one good thing is i always hit last so if nobodys in good position i dont just whack the driver.
  19. Just curious if its just me, i know most people feel more confident with thier 3 wood, but for me, i feel more confident with my driver than my 3 Wood, i even feel more confident with my 3 iron, at least most of the time i know my miss with the 3 iron will be thin and still go near where im aiming, and still have some distance, with my 3wood it can go anywhere, i dont know what it is, im sure mental, but i just dont feel the confidence over it.
  20. Ive been playing in a scramble with about 20 guys every other week, for 3yrs now, there has honestly been less than a dozen times that we didnt go off of my drive, they even take mine over thiers when im off line because its that much closer to the hole, we also use a great number of my aproach shots, moral is, although i can perform well in this platform, i still dont score as well as i should on my own and i believe it has a lot to do with the fact that when im with them i get into a go for it state of mind and then when im on my own i find myself carrying that over to my regular game. When i catch myself and start playing smarter the scores get better, its just very hard to get out of that mode, it does seem boring at times not using driver, laying up, etc. but thats what it takes for me to score well.
  21. Your score is legitimate! One of the courses i play often i cant hit driver but on 8 holes and that doesnt matter from which tee, some courses are just designed that way. Theres this thing in most of us that we just wanna hit that driver, thats the big thriller! Your not cheating, your just playing smarter golf! At the end of the day dont you feel better about your score than you would about the few good drives you may have had?
  22. Yes, there are courses where tees dont make too much of a difference, yes, if you play a course often you should switch it up from time to time, but when groups are stacking up behind you and the only ones ahead of you are ones you let pass, its time to rethink your decision, i dont know about you, but for me, when i get pushed through it throws my game off for a minute because unlike some, i care about the people behind me!
  23. When you factor in the 5-10% difference for elavation, hardness of the ground here, elevated tee boxes, and the fact that those shots werent my typical draw, you end up just about where i claimed, again, i never said i was straight all the time, and as we now know, pga doesnt care if its in the fairway, i can only speak to my averages for the courses and conditions i play, if you wanna say i move to florida and only average 287 thats fine. I speak the truth about my game as i know it.
  24. So, for all you nay sayers, i just went to golf galaxy and hit a few, didnt have my driver, just used a stiff 10.5 as you can see in my avatar pic my carry was 262 my total was 287 and swing speed was 103. Not to make any excuses but it wasnt my driver, and they say its set at sea level and for our area you can expect 5-10% more, i never claimed to be a great golfer, just that i can hit it long, if you think just because your long you should be good your a jakwad, and for the record, before i started implementing some changes i was a 6 hndcp, taking some time to adjust, and again, my putting is my big killer
  25. And to ccotonj, i clearly stated that they are very different from us! And to think that thier some kind of monsters that no other mere mortal man can do anything like is delusional!
