The times I'm seeing on GolfNow are 1-4 bookings so looks like no one is currently booked st all. I'm also curious about the systems being synced?
-
When I call the course as a single they usually just tell me to show up at a certain time of day (usually closer to twilight time) and they will work me in. When I look on golfnow or like sites they show several tee times bookable for 1 person prior to the time the course told me to come. What would happen if I book that single slot on GolfNow? Would the course just tell me I'm SOL since I'm a single or do they have to honor my time booked through the 3rd party site? Obviously they will try to pair me up which is fine. I don't expect to play as a single.

Thank you for the feedback saevel. First time I've seen my swing on film and definitely noted the ball position also. Thanks for the reminder. Will check out the video for sure. I do have the tendency to slide the hips instead of rotating it seems.

I've been Playing Golf for: coming back from a 6 year lay off but played high school golf and casually in college My current handicap index or average score is: only have 3 rounds under my belt in over 5 years but have shot 80-90 all 3 rounds - in high school I would shoot consistently around 80 My typical ball flight is: i tend to hit the ball thin, usually a little lower than i'd prefer The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: common miss is definitely the block/push to the right or if i try to compensate i will begin to snap hook Looking for any and all help. Just trying to get some consistency back into my game. Looking for some common faults you guys may notice. Thanks in advance. Videos:

Not sure where this should go but... Are there any websites out there that one should check out if thinking about visiting a golf/vacation resort? We've been thinking about heading out to a lot of places but some of the top choices at this point would be - Las Vegas, Phoenix, Orlando, or Myrtle Beach. I'm sure she has more in mind but these are the top picks right now. Just need someone to point me in the right direction when it comes to gathering info for something like this? Thanks.

DFW area golfers - any interest in a Poor Man's Tour???
d373rm1ned replied to Par Fore's topic in Golf Talk
I know it's been about 2 months since anyone has posted in this thread but...I'm new to the DFW area. Working in Burleson and staying in Arlington. I don't really know anyone that golfs around here and would love to maybe join in with someone for a weekend round. Message me on here if you'd be interested in a round sometime. I'd be up for a round anywhere in the metro. -
I'm new to the Dallas/Fort Worth area (currently staying in Arlington) and looking for a few guys to play a round with on the weekends. I'm open to playing any course, anywhere in the metro. Just played Texas Star yesterday (great course). Haven't had a chance to play as much as I would like so currently playing to around a 15 handicap but would love to go out and just have a nice round with some fellow sandtrappers. Let me know if you'd be up for a round sometime.

I'm currently hitting my irons great (for me). Accuracy and distance control is acceptable for me right now. Having a problem with consistency with the driver though. Seems to be all over the place now (not one given miss but instead i'll hit 1 low and left and the next high and right). I'm a natural "picker" of the ball and tend to have a shallower swing. Just wondering if anyone can diagnose the problem with the given description (probably not)? I'll try to record some video and post my swings. Thanks.

I'm currently doing some travel work for a company that places you for 13 week assignments all throughout the United States. I plan on taking advantage of this and going to places that offer some decent golf in the area. I'm currently in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Tx area and after this assignment is over, I'll be off to the next. Just wondering if you guys could recommend me some places I should check out that have some good golf in the local area? My current assignment will be over in October so I would like to find a semi-warm winter climate to play some winter golf in. Thanks.

Hello, I've been looking for a place to call home when I graduate and believe the Tampa, FL area has a lot to offer for my golf addiction. Just wondering what areas around Tampa you would recommend for easy access to public courses/practice facilities? I'm pretty open to any and all suggestions so please recommend as many as you want but please leave reasons why you chose that certain area. Thanks.

Help me pick out a golf bag...
d373rm1ned replied to d373rm1ned's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
The four 5 looks great but I have read that it has a problem fitting correctly on the back of a riding cart. Therefore, it is pretty much out of the running. -
Hello, Need a little help finding a bag that will fit all my needs. Here is a little info to help you, help me choose... 1) I ride in a cart 95% of the time. Other 5% I carry (never use push/pull carts). Must easily fit on the back of a standard golf cart. 2) It needs to be a stand bag b/c I like going to the range and need to be able to get to the clubs easily. 3) 14-way divider would be ideal but not necessary if the bag has full length dividers that will eliminate grips from becoming tangled. 4) The bag needs enough room to hold - rain gear, umbrella, gps, etc. A collectibles pocket would be nice to keep things safe. Cooler pocket that holds a water bottle would also be ideal. A easy to access pocket for golf balls/tees would be nice for in round use. 5) Does not need to be ultra lightweight as I do not walk that often but I do not want to lug around a suitcase when I do walk. I've been looking around on the internet and this forum trying to gather some info on the "perfect" bag. I do have some in mind but do not want to sway any opinions in this thread by mentioning them quite yet. Just want to hear what you oh so wise Sandtrappers have to offer. Thanks.

Hello I've been looking at getting a pair of Oakley Sunglasses and have a buddy that is offering up his Flak Jacket Asian Fit glasses at a pretty good price. Unfortunately, he is over 200 miles away and I cannot try them on nor do any of the stores around me carry such a style to try out. Just wondering if the Asian fit is truly that much different than the original Oakleys? Here is a link describing the item... http://www.oakley.com/asian_fit I have a fairly narrow and tall head (I am definitely not Asian!). Think these glasses would work for me or would I be better off just sticking with the original style? Thanks.

Talk to me about Florida...
d373rm1ned replied to d373rm1ned's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Great info guys. Looking for any more opinions on the matter. Thanks. I'd have to say that Tampa is at the top of my list currently. Seems so centrally located. Miami my just be too south for my liking. Seems so far from everything else FL has to offer. Definitely the outdoor type. How's the hiking around the Tampa area? You mentioned hurricanes...how rainy is it around that area? I love calm, sunny days and would get pretty frustrated if it rained during my after work round of golf on a consistent basis. When you hear the word Orlando - I automatically think of tourists. How truly bad are tourists in and around Orlando. I think I may be better off living around Tampa and visiting Orlando on occasion. Nice website. Thanks for the info on the Miami area. -
Exactly what I was looking for. That GK site is pretty cool also. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I do not have an iphone or ipod touch. I would need something that is website based on the internet. Thanks though.

Sorry, the title is a little confusing. I'm looking for a website that will do something similar to the following - you type in the name of a city and select a radius (ex.10, 20, 30 mile) upon which it will then count the number of golf courses within that selected radius. I know I've used something like this before but cannot find a website that does this for the life of me. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Have been considering a move to a warmer year round climate and Florida is on the radar. However, I have no idea what areas in Florida I should be looking at? Which places/cities in Florida are ideal for year round golf? I would rather have numerous public courses to choose from than 1-2 private clubs to join if that makes sense. I just want some opinions on which areas of Florida are golf hot spots and please be as specific as possible. Thanks!

Hello all, I'm currently in the search of a place to call home. I'm 25 and will be graduating in May with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree. I'm originally from IL but want to move somewhere where I do not have to put up with snow and can golf nearly year round. My current interests are Austin, TX and Phoenix, AZ but could be persuaded into other areas of the continental US. Sticking points... I'll be in the healthcare field so access to hospitals and being in states with good Medicare reimbursements would be key and I'll be a fresh grad and therefore not financially stable - high cost of living would be out of the question. Little more about myself - will be relocating with fiance, we like to eat out a lot but don't like the club scene, I like to workout so access to decent gyms would be good, love cars, love to hike, would like to take our dog with us, and most importantly LOVE to golf. If anyone could help me weigh the Pros/Cons of AZ and TX or any other state you can think of it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Austin, TX vs. Phoenix, AZ

Thanks for the input guys. It's way more difficult than I ever imagined trying to find someplace in the continental USA to call home for "year round golf". -
Austin, TX vs. Phoenix, AZ
d373rm1ned replied to d373rm1ned's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Thanks for the comments so far guys. it's really helping to paint a clearer picture. Desert courses would probably get old playing them day in and day out. I've never been to Phoenix so I cannot comment on the heat compared to Austin. Is the less humid Phoenix weather really that much different than more humid Austin? I'm sure I can find plenty to do in either city. Give me a golf course and a sports team to follow and I'll be continent. The traffic situation would get pretty annoying I'm sure. I'll more than likely be working in a hospital setting, so having several hospital's within a short drive from my house would be ideal. Not sure I'd like to commute any more than 30 mins 1 direction. Tx does indeed seem to be the more logical chose based on economy. Not a fan of wind while on the golf course. I love playing in calm conditions. How noticeable is the wind near the Austin area? You say it probably isn't an ideal place to live for year round golf...just wondering if you have other considerations? That's probably what I like most about Austin. It's centrally located with major cities in all directions. I'm a chinese food buff also. It's comments like these that get my attention lol. -
I'll be graduating from college in May and am completely sick of cold weather. I'm looking to move somewhere that I can golf 365 days/year if I wanted to. I've narrowed my choices down to the Austin or Phoenix areas. Just wondering, which area you guys would recommend and why? Weather, living costs, housing costs, job market (I'm in Physical Therapy), etc. should all come into play. I know the Phoenix area is loaded with courses just about everywhere but which suburb/part of Phoenix would you recommend to reside in? What about Austin? I don't need different courses to choose from. I would completely happy living close enough to 5 decent courses that I could go play around at whichever I preferred after a day at work. Thanks for any information you guys may share.

I have always played a 9.5 driver but a friend recently recommended trying a 10.5. I would say that I have a pretty normal trajectory (not too high/not too low) with the 9.5 but my buddy said that a lot of courses are building their layouts for carry distance and not necessarily roll out distance...is this true? I'm a little skeptical about bumping up to the 10.5 b/c I have always played the 9.5 but not sure if it wouldn't help in the long run. My question, how much distance loss can I expect with the 1 degree of difference? Should my accuracy expect to improve? I'm asking this b/c I am looking a buying a TaylorMade 09 Burner since my other driver is pretty old.
