Is your wife a golf widow or play along with you? My wife tried golf and she finally came to the conclusion that brain surgery had to be easier than golf. Anyway, she has seen me drive away many times with my son and without him before he was of age to go with me and she has stuck by me for 45 years. I've seen divorces because of the passion of golf. What does your wife or girl friend think about it?

YowZer! that must have been in shock. Well, I worked the last 4 days and the two tournaments. Yesterday was a long day as was today. I put in 13 hrs each day and handled a passel of carts. Beer cans were everywhere and junk all in the carts to clean out before putting away. I had to make out all the score cards and post all the scores as the teams came in. I was a little tired then and today 13 more hours really did me in. I have to put in 7 more in the morning and till 2 pm. That will be it for a few days. Thank goodness!

I got to watch the ladies last night and it looked like fun. They were hooting and hollering and having a blast. It was black as pitch and I don't see how they judged the distance to the ball during the swing. They only played 3 holes and even par won the thing. I had to get out 32 carts and put them away last night and I got home at 9:40. This morning I have to get them all out again for the COC tournament. Yuk again!

Hey man, you sure look alot like Clint Eastwood! I hit a 5 iron 168 that bounced a couple of times, hit the back of the hole, rattled around the flag stick and jumped out. If it had gone in I would have won a new Buick car. People around the green said they couldn't believe it stayed out. Just my luck!

I got to play a lot of golf while I was in college. I ran the pro shop at the old college campus at Sam Houston U. When I got out of school I went to work for the railroad and played several times a week. I guess I was lucky in a way. The old Country Campus was once a prison for German soldiers during World War 11 and my dad who was a RR Engineer use to stop his train near the old barracks and let the prisoners be removed out of box cars. They would then march them over to the barracks. The place was also used as a Kansas City try-out camp for baseball. Just thought I'd let you know some history trivia.

I'm not sure about the ruling on the green but I saw Arnie Palmer once bump his ball off the tee and he laughed about it and replaced it on the tee and went on with no penalty. Don't know about on the green however with an unintentional hit. Have to confront the rule book on that one!

If I might ask, why the lay off? I laid off from 99 till last year due to hip problems but can play now with a bionic titanium hip. I had given up on golf and gave my clubs to my oldest son!

You can get a like new set of irons on ebay for about a third of what you will pay at the Pro Shop or a golf store like Golfsmith or Edwin Watts. Both of my sets are used but the one that came off ebay was like new. The Callaways belonged to a co-worker. Look around and you can get a great set of irons for under $400.00

There are some things to consider.....do you like blades or cavity back irons? What brand do you prefer? Ping, Taylor made, Callaway etc. Do you like stiff or reg. shafts? I like a periferal weighted iron and I have the Ping Zings and the Callaway Great Big Bertha irons. Both give me the look I like when I gaze down at the club behind the ball.

I've got to work two tournaments, one this evening right before dark and one in the morning. The evening tournament is a ladies "night ball" event and the one in the morning is a Chamber of Commerce tournament and it will be a doozy. We will use all our carts and then some. Morning and evening tee times on this one. I got all the team charts made out for both tournaments and I'm curious to see how the ladies do. It's a 3 hole event and they will use the glow balls after dark. Be my first time to watch this action! Anyone ever play in a night golf tournament. We have 10 teams of 4 ladies to deal with!

I've eagled a whole passel of holes over the years and most have been 5 irons or lower. My most memorable one was the one at Hilltop Lakes that I holed in 2 on a par four and no one has matched it before or since. I hit two 5 woods and got lucky on the second shot. The hole is called Bear Claw and is the hardest hole on the course, they say!

My wife took a hefty swing at the ball and missed it on a par 3 hole and she hit it the second time and it was a worm burner and it went all the way up on the green and into the hole. Unreal!
-
The only thing I've noticed about the womans swing is they are more deliberate. They take the club back slower and seem to concentrate more on making solid contact. We all should take heed on that!

I've got one "hole in ones" in my life time and I've been playing for 40 years. My son has 5 and I've seen him make two of them. It's like magic! My irons usually hit and go right due to the spin I put on them with the high cut shot. The day I hit the ace, the ball landed on the green and jumped left and right into the hole. It was a 157 yd 7 iron that did the job. The golf gods let me do it. How many do you have?

Those are good shows and I enjoy them also. Brad did a great job, I thought!
-
That you are. Are all the courses over there links courses?
-
Your welcome and you said it better than I did!

Very good post. We can all learn from what you just wrote.
-
Very good and I thank you for the post. Thats what I meant!

Yes, I should have said.......when you think you have to swing hard and fast and tighten your grip and muscles( which is a direct result of that ideology) clubhead speed is reduced, not increased. Holding the club like your holding a dove in your hands and swinging slower is the key to power at the bottom. Is that better?
-
If your clubs don't fit you and a new set will then it's worth the money to buy new. If you have a set that works for you and your scoring well then a new set may not be an advantage.

90 degrees and dry. We haven't had any significant rain in several months and everything is drying up and dying. We need a change in the weather real fast like! I'm watering my yd and flower beds daily. No fun!

If the movie was a disappointment then I guess I better read the book. It must be good cause I enjoyed the movie alot. I thought Bagger Vance was somewhat better than this show but I was impressed with it. I wonder if Amazon has the book and is it the same title?
