  1. Example: Vokey spin milled 60.04 vs 60.07 or higher... I read that non diggers (me) need less bounce to keep from digging... would that be the lower (60.04) with the 04 being low bounce? I rarely make much of a divot much less of a big divot. (dad threatened me with death when i was young and hitting balls on the grass) Thanks for straightening me out..
  2. I havent played in almost 2 months... I really enjoyed playing with my new AP2's, this was like the 5th time I have got to play with them and I felt very comfortable..... I played much better than I expected, 94.....Just a whole positive experience all the way around...I did get a little tired, as I have been having issues with a knee and some kind of neck issue... neck felt good for like 8 holes and then became a little tender.. I think I was compensating some which cause some thin shots... But overall, best damn day in a long time... Thought I would share...
  3. its clear i should take my newly discovered ability and take the time to write all the details down...
  4. Have the ability to remember just about every detail of the round you played a day or so ago?? I can... I was talking with a co worker the day after I played 36 holes.. I was able to recount every hole, iron, drive, putt on the last 18 and almost everything on the 1st 18.. i forgot how many putts on a few holes and on a few shots what iron i used...
  5. I am thinking he ment a more general statement of the player hits the ball with back side of putter the "throw" it in the general vicinity of the hole...as in not be accurate...
  6. I dont want to limit the list to just clubs woman would use, but for any beginner...
  7. I was reading the R7 vs Nike thread and someone said that the Nike's would be a more of a game improvement iron while the R7 would be better in the long run... My wife is looking for new irons, and she need all the improvemnt she can get from her clubs... How about a list of irons that would really help a new player.....with the final criteria being that the irons give the most help now...
  8. I really only have 1 set of clubs to compare them to, and that is my Titleist DCI 962's.... I played 36 holes today.. 18 in the morning and 18 in the early afternoon... I found these clubs to be more forgiving that my older 962's... For example, as a mishit, I would hit off the toe... On the 962's the hit felt harsh in the hands and the ball would generally go right...The AP2's were a lot more forgiving. I ended up alot nearer the green than I would have expected, and the hit didnt feel very hard to my hands.. A well hit ball was had a muted feeling in the hands compared to the 962's, but I could still tell a well struck ball... Just that the feeling was more pronounced with the 962's... Ball also got up just a bit better.. more hitting needs to be done for me to give more info on that.. I had what seemed to be an easier time hitting balls from the rough...With my 962's, the club face would get opened up by the grass, causing a nice slice... With the AP2's, I felt like the club face powered through the rough better, helping me keep the club face inline... I also gained some distance.. with the 962's I was hitting a 6 iron about 160yds.. now it seems i am in the 175yds + area... Not sure yet.. still feeling them out on distance... I encountered a problem that I didnt have with my older irons in that my short irons, 7-pw, I had a draw going on. Not sure why yet. Sometime the draw was more of a hook..
  9. I tried the PGA website, but I am not sure what a "class A" professional would be designated... can you give me a bit of guidance? Thanks for your help..
  10. I will soon have AP2's with X 5.5 shafts in my hands... I have never had a "club fitting" done before... What does it entail? Services performed? Cost? Who should do it, local shop (very small but they do it, $65 and they cant adjust L&L;) or golf galaxy?? Special Tee and Golf? Thanks for the input.
  11. Even though I may hit a chip shot or an iron shot many times, I dont recall ever holding someone up. In fact I seem to be a fast player as I usually have at least 1 group let me play through, even though I am hitting many balls...... My biggest worry is me holding people up, that why I think I play to fast and should slow down...
  12. Glad to see my question has sparked a lot of good, honest debate.... I truely have learned something from this and it has helped me define something for myself, so thank you all..... Here is my "take" I play to have fun...I dont really care what my handicap is...but I really care about improving, hence the reason I will drop a ball and retry a shot 2, 3 times, rehit a tee shot (not very often)... I do these things to improve my game, but not my score.. The only other people I play with are my wife and a couple of co-workers every now and then..... My wife plays the same way and my co-workers seem to be the same also. 1 for sure keeps score but he doesnt seem opposed to rehitting a tee shot or a bad iron. I dont pay attention to how he scores his game though.
  13. Hence my statement about gamesmanship.... I think we agree.... I just really feel that it dont matter who you play, you are playing the course and conditions.... I DO agree that in a match play situation, if your opponent has already shot himself in the foot and all you need to do is play it safe, then you change your shot selection/play... Just like if he is on the green in 2 on a par 5, you should probably take your best shot at the green on your 2nd shot.... Which to me falls into the conditions part....
  14. No you dont, you still play a course, post your best course.. you have no control over the man your playing against...
  15. While I don’t have any golf experience in terms of tourneys and such, I have decades of pool tourneys, gambling etc... Best advice, your not playing the man but the course....what he says and does should have nothing to do with what you do or how you do it... Stick to the rules and you wont have to worry about his little gamesmanship games... Some tricks I have learned about gamesmanship items that cross to golf might be give him easy putts early in the round, but when things are tight later in the round stop giving him those putts... by giving him 3-5ft putts early in the round, he wont have practice.. and when it counts he could be a little shaky.... I have seen thousands of dollars lost on such a tactic (and I don’t recommend it, just something I have seen) .
