  1. I may try the hover routine. I wonder if I may be standing with to much weight on the balls of my feet causing me to lean forward when I swing.. Going to keep trying. I bought me a cheap digital camera and tripod. SHould be here soon. If I film myself maybe I can see something I am doing wrong. I don't think it has anything to do with the club though. It's me. Thanks for the advice. Maybe I can post some video.
  2. I feel like I need some type of routine when hitting my driver as far as set up. I've tried a few different things but not satisfied yet. Do you address the ball in the center of the club, toe or heel and is the club grounded. I have never been one to tee my ball real high. I usually have about half the ball above the top of the driver but most of the time I still hit it high on the face. Sometime I hit or skim the ground but I have a fear if I tee it up high I will hit under it. I am 70 so I don't have a mighty swing and don't take the club back real far. I have been doing some stretching to try and come back a little further with the club. I have 5 different drivers and I have put the stick on markers on them to check my pattern and I don't really have a certain pattern on any of them. Four have regular shafts and one has a senior shaft. Just any ideas would be appreciate.
  3. If you have a 45 inch driver and cut it down to 43 1/2 should you add a little lead tape to the head? The shorter driver just feels better to me. I cut one down and didn't do anything to it.
  4. I'll kind of talk around a little and see what I can come up with. Probably like everyone else looking for that magic club to correct everything but that probably wont' happen. Thanks for the advice.
  5. Hadn't thought about the coin trick. That's a good idea. Thanks
  6. Is there anyway to get fitted for clubs online. Probably a stupid question. We only have one golf shop where I live and I get I don't know if I would go there for that or not. Just don't feel like I would get the time I needed to be fitted and I know how much the guy really knows. I have three sets of clubs at the moment. I have a older Adams Idea set with senior graphite shafts that I have had for quite a while. Then I have a little newer set of Adams Idea os set with steel regular shafts and then I just bought a new set of Callaway xr irons a few months ago. The set came with 3 and 4 hybrid and 5 through a A wedge irons with fubuki at 55 xct regular flex shafts. I am 70 and around a 16 handicap. I have took a nine iron from all three sets and hit balls and I can't really tell a whole lot of difference with any of them. Of course I don't it the ball solid nearly about all the time. As far as the clubs go when I put the three clubs all side by side I really like the looks of the Adams Idea os heads. They have a little wider sole and a thinner top line which I like. I don't really know if I need a senior type shaft or a regular shaft. I remember when I used to get a catalog from Golfsmith back years ago and I couldn't believe how many different shafts there were. There's probably more now. If I knew what shaft I needed and what length and what size grip I wouldn't mind sending the clubs to someone and have new shafts put in and the clubs re gripped. Just a thought. Thanks
  7. I may try to address it in a different location. I probably hit it high on the face more than low. Thanks for the suggestions.
  8. I am having trouble hitting the sweet spot on my driver. I have three or four different ones. I am 70 years old in fairly good shape. Have no idea what my swing speed is. I don't think I try and swing too hard. I feel like my set up is fairly good. I am just all over the face of the driver. Not consistent . Not way off but not in the center. Most of my hit are from center to high and far as the center of the club. I can tee a ball up and make a little swing and I get that nice ping sound so I feel like I am in the center but the more I try and pick it us the less consistent it get. Anybody got any ideas or maybe some type drill to do. I have three different drivers I use. Callaway x2 hot with a senior shaft 43 1/2" shaft. A Wilson D200 with a regular shaft 45 " and a Taylor Made R5 with a regular shaft 45". As far as the sweet spot goes I am about the same on all of them. It's just me, I dont' think it the clubs. Any help would be appreciated.
  9. I cut the putter off and re griped it. I like the feel of it and I feel more comfortable. When I get in my stance I have a inch or so of the end of the putter sticking above my hand and my left arm is pretty straight in line with the putter with my eyes over the ball. I am trying to develop the straight back and straight through stroke. When I hit the sweet spot on the putter it feels great and hardly makes a sound. Problem is I am not hitting it most of the time. I have always brought the putter back too low and I think I am not picking it up high enough to hit the center of the ball. What is strange is I can be walking off the green and putt it one handed with my right hand and it sounds perfect but when I put with both hands it sounds different. I have a mark all the way around the ball and I can pretty well roll it end over end. I really like what I have I have just got to start hitting it solid. I can't really tell any difference in the putter except it is shorter.
  10. I am going with 33". It if feels like the head is too light I'll add a little lead tape. I doubt very seriously if I will be able to tell any difference. I have another putter that is 33" long and it feels more comfortable to me. Thanks for all the input.
  11. I saw an article on youtube called Golf Setup Part 4 Ball Position. I have always thought I stand to close to the ball probably with all clubs. In the video he takes a short iron ( 9) puts it in the middle of his stance ( which looks a little wide for a 9 ) flexes his knees a little and puts the club out where the ball should be. He puts the club there at leans the club over to his left knee. He says the club should be about one inch above the knee cap. This is with all clubs. I tried it with the driver and it feels good but with short irons it seems a little to far away. Anybody else tried this. I have always had trouble comming over the top and now I am wondering if I have always been standing to close to the ball. I have never seen any way to measure where the ball should be other than this. If it is true it is easy to do. Look at the video and see what yall think. Thanks
  12. Thanks for the comments. I think I'll go ahead and cut the 1" off and give it a try. Thanks again guys.
  13. Just bought a used XG 7 putter to try. I tend to bend over a bit more than usual and I am going to try and get a straight back and straight through stroke and get it right. The putter is a 34" and it seems like it may be a little too long. I am 5'8" and I think my arms are a little long. I want to cut one inch of the putter. I was wondering if it would effect the putter to cut it off one inch and regrip it with the same grip. This shouldn't change the actual weight of the putter but I was wondering if it would change anything else. Any suggestions. Thanks
  14. I bought a odyssey white hot xg # 7 off ebay just to see if I like it. It is supposed to be a 34". If it seems a little to long would it hurt to cut a little off and regrip it. I would doubt if I could tell any difference but I was just wondering. Thanks
  15. Just joined the site and have some questions. I am a 70 year old male. Been playing a long time off and on. Just really started back a couple of months ago. Playing with some guys I used to work with. We're all just hackers but I've been practicing a little. Always been over the top slicer but I've gotten it a little better. Hope to get to know everyone.
