  1. OK! Will do. Since I hardly rolled my forearms to get the longer swing before I think that I may experience some issues with not closing correctly due to the fact that I'm not used to it and therefore unaware of how much I need to roll them back. I'll get back..
  2. Hm, well, what I mean is practically that I end up too close to the body and I can't put power into my swing - when I swing 7-1 like you explained. Like I get stuck behind my own body and then I block the shot to the right instead, see what I mean? Hmm
  3. Ok, I tried that, and I really understand how it should feel. Really hard to do though as it feels as if i can't contain my clubhead from dragging its way out when I put some power into it. But I understand the general feel of it.. any clues? Too weak shaft?
  4. Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I have gone from a hook to a slice. I usually start the ball straight and then it curves, so F looks about right. Not entirely sure of how to push the club out to the right. I mean, I can do that if I take a stance where the ball is further away. I usually lose the slice but it feels (looks?) kinda awkward.
  5. Thanks, and my apologies for not finding that earlier. I'll know for sure next time. You got any quick tips for things to think about in regards to my swing? Heading to the range in a short while.

  7. Off we go again. Driver first, major slice issues.. I'm starting to miss my hook. I also have a short backswing. I don't really rotate my forearms that much. Tried it at the range and .. it's a swing change. It feels weird and awkward and I can't really get good contact. Should I continue pressing for it anyway? Swing becomes prettier.. and I guess I will gain more distance. What do you think? First off, normal one.. this is my regular swing with driver. Below is me trying to stretch the backswing. And again, below with an iron, stretching the backswing a bit more (thinking while swinging...) Any ideas? Anything is welcome. I still push shots to the right, occasional fade with my irons. 5-wood/spoon is straight/draw. edit: um, and.. still dont know how to embed.
  8. Hey man. I've been lurking on and off on this site ever since winter began. Getting closer to golfing season, I should rightfully revisit this. I have managed to create a centered hip turn, and I am not swaying as much as I used to. Well, I am still swaying slightly in the downswing but I guess that's partly needed right? Regarding my swing, I no longer push shots to the right. Instead, I've made the remarkable feat of turning a hook into a slice. Only for the driver though. I am regressing! Maybe those single-digit goals were a bit optimistic. I think it may be due to the fact that I cut my driver down to barely 42", not changing swing weight, changing my grip to a slightly weaker one, and using a 50g driver shaft. I am going through a shaft fitting on Friday, so I am anxious to see what I can discover. With my irons I started to add forward lean (stronglofting) which is causing some fat shots to occur but generally I feel like I can hit the ball a lot cleaner doing this. I don't skull it any more and the bad shots are just slightly shorter than what I expect when firing off. Read something about keeping the shaft in a straight line with your left arm so... Still struggling with keeping my head absolutely still. I feel like I can't generate enough power without a bit of motion. And I need to work on my short game. That's the completely unstructured story of today. Guess I'll have to upload a couple of new clips including my irons and the driver since these three were only with my FW5. I can't hit that one off the deck anymore by the way. Thanks for checking in. I'll be back with videos shortly.
  9. Hmm, that sounds like solid advice and makes perfect sense. Maybe that's why everything is working great on the range when I have a completely flat spot to work with in my takeaways, and then I fumble on grass.. as courses don't look like giant tee's. I'll try that on the range tomorrow and see what it does!
  10. Thanks, Yeah seems like I failed during the post upload - I can't edit my post either now. Could maybe a mod assist in embedding the videos into the post instead or advise what to do? Maybe delete and I'll make a new post?
  11. I heard about that - and I know there's a Mizuno fitter/retailer within 30 minutes of driving distance. Just contemplating if the money spent on buying brand new clubs is really worth it. I've heard so many great things about jpx 850 forged, jpx 825 pro etc. I don't feel like buying into the hype of purchasing new clubs when there's very little to no difference in going to 'older' clubs. Then again, I can't get fitted with old clubs I guess? When I bought my Cobras I got "fitted" as well, but by then I knew nothing about golf and thought I would get some help with finding the correct clubs. In hindsight I was just tricked into buying something, or that's my feeling afterwards. The "fitter" just looked at me and said "yeah you're pretty much standard length" and then I hit 4-5 shots with one club, 4-5 shots with another and the ones that performed the best there and then (Cobras) was recommended. Didn't know anything by then as I said so I just went with his advice. That's why I am a bit hesitant when it comes to actually doing a fitting session again.. Edit: Additionally.. when I hit the ball the fitter complained about me setting my clubface square on the ground - he said that it doesn't matter if the face is a bit up right (just heel on the ground) since that will correct itself on the downswing. I hit a few balls that way and it kind of worked actually but I just hate the feeling of not setting it square from the start. Any recommendations here? Thanks, I am a bit wary on doing another fitting.. heard a lot of people playing to scratch by just buying something off the rack. I understand its not optimal but if it does the job. Already sold off the Cobras. I only played them for 4-5 months but I never liked them.. not even from the beginning. Looks, probably. Regarding swing weight.. yes, the lighter shaft feels great, but since it's a bit lighter than my previous clubs (obviously) I feel like I am losing some control in the downswing. Maybe it's just an illusion or something I need to work past to keep my new increased swing speed? Yep, OK. I have been narrowing down on my list, too.. I really like the Mizuno look (clean, classic), I dont want the crutches of super game improvement any more, but still some help. I am looking at the 900/850/825 jpx forged clubs as of now. It's a hard game and MP wont help enough :)
  12. I've been Playing Golf for: 1 season My current handicap index or average score is: 17.5 My typical ball flight is: Mid-high. Usually 50/50 between straight shots and a slight draw. Rest of them are exaggerated draws (yep.. hooks). The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: I have the same issue with all clubs (not even my putter is spared) where I push shots to the right, so it's obviously a swing flaw. Sometimes I push the shots enough to completely ruin my scores and it just wears me down. Feels like I need to adjust this now. Oh, and occasionally it also translates into more of a hook (as stated previously.) Had a look at my clubs after today session as well and I noticed that I tend to hit the toe or very close to the toe on my fairwaywood, could that be a clue? The shots on the videos below: "Side#1" is a bit of a pushed shot. "Side#2" is a beautiful draw! Thought I would give this a shot since I am aiming for 10-12 next season and then single within 2-3. Could you help me assess the biggest flaws in my swing? Videos: Side#1 Side#2 Front
  13. Hey guys, Couldn't find a sticky with specific forum rules, so if something is off here in regards to standardization let me know and/or delete the thread. Just looking for some assistance in my new hunt for clubs. This is my first year playing, and I have never felt so passionate about anything as with golf. We have a short season here, so I started off in May and must have done +100 laps around our courses by now. Now at hcp 17, and I just sold off my Cobra F7 irons that I purchased when I first started (2017 model, new, but I am sure you all know). From lurking this site for a couple of months I bet you can guess - I am primarily looking at Mizunos right now. I've been at the shop trying out several clubs, and in general I just like the look and feel of the non-blingbling, classic irons. I am also starting to feel like playing GI/SGI irons doesn't really help me advance in my swing or contact due to the fact that I don't get punished enough for playing a shot badly. Playing something more difficult might push me back up to 20' something, but I dont really mind. Neither am I especially interested in playing blades.. just want something in between - I think? Another lesson I've learned from trying out multiple brands and types is that a lighter shaft (like XP 95) suits me perfectly. Any heavier and I feel like I can't carry the club around me quick enough, and they end up being pushed. The cobras were at 107-something, which was too heavy. I am not a millionaire so I can't keep spending money on new clubs, but all standard shafts seem to hang around 105-120g, which is too much for me. So, two main questions (and then you can school me on whatever else I may be misinterpreting); - How should I go about in chasing these new sticks - purchasing shafts and looking for heads, or is my only option to bite the bullet and do a custom fit and get brand new ones with the correct shafts from the start? - As I am early in my golfing career, do I run a risk by buying lighter shafts already since my swing is not fully developed yet? Edit: (Just a note. While swinging the standard shafts (around 110-115g) my swingspeed was around 74-75, when I tried the 95g all swings rose to about 87-88. Does that mean anything in particular in relation?
