  1. Well, I think I found my drive. After reading all the post's, I actually did a google search on the swing plane and got several great hits. I kinda had to put two and two together, but finally figured out how to swing properly and now I'm hitting straight fairly consitently at about 200 - 250, feels great! Hopefully my head doesn't play games on me when I'm ready to tee off and then go back to my old ways.
  2. I just read your post. Can't see from the video's if the ball is pulling left like mine (I'll assume it is), and I'm not exactly sure what "over the top" swing means. I'll guess it means your hands are to high above your head....maybe they need to be level with the top of our head or even lower? Also, as for not having my hands lead the downswing, how would I remedy that? Kleraudio, how many yards on average is your drive when you're having a good day? I think I may be in the same mindset as you when it comes to swinging, I focus to much on swing speed and power rather that form and making solid contact. I'm pretty new to this game so a good drive for me is only about 250.
  3. Not sure why, but when I hit the ball with my driver or irons, it seems to very often go left. I don't mean it hooks/curves left, but it goes in a straight line to the left. If I could only get it to go straight like that in the direction my leading shoulder is facing, I'd be all set. What am I doing wrong?
  4. Sorry, I didn't mention I was looking for a stand bag.
  5. Some nice options. But I still don't understand why somebody would want a bag without the 14 individual slots for the clubs....say like one with 7 slots, can someone fill me in?
  6. What type of "cheaper" ($100 or less) golf bag would you buy? I like the bags with individual slots for each club but it seems all those are $140+. The bags with the large compartments where I presume several clubs go in per each slot, how would you stop the clubs from getting all banged up from bag chatter? I'd like a decent bag, maybe even one that matches the brand of my clubs (Cleveland or Callaway), but am willing to do any brand as long as the bag is decent and has the individual slots as described. Also, where is the best place to buy?
  7. Hi, this is one of my first thread's on this forum after lot's of research by utilizing the search function, excellent information! The reason I'm starting a new thread is to see what everyone thinks i'll need to round off my set. I actually just bought my first used set of clubs from 3balls on Ebay: 2006 Callaway Big Bertha's 3-PW in "very good condition" and a used Cleveland HiBore Monster XLS Draw 10.5* Driver in "fine" condition. Apart from the putter and bag I'll need to buy, I've been thinking I might need the following: 1) Some wedge's, not exactly sure which one's i'll need though, probably a SW and maybe a LW? 2) Woods? I was thinking maybe a 3 wood to fill the gap between the driver and the irons? 3) Hybrid? Maybe one that has like a 18* or 19* loft? I guess the question is do I really need both a wood and a Hybrid?
  8. I just scored a HiBore XLS Monster Draw 10.5* from 3balls on the Bay in "fine condition" for $120. Question, is this a new club for 2009? Also, I'm ignorant when it comes to what the "Draw" means and how it will affect my hitting?
  9. I just bought a set of Big Bertha 3-PW. I'll be getting a 10 - 10.5* driver. What wood and/or hybrid should I get to fill the gap? I'm pretty new to this so I'm not sure what loft/degree wood to get or what hybrid.
  10. I bought a set of '06 Big Bertha's 3-PW from 3ballsgolf for $220. They're obviously used but rated at Very Good Condition. I've read some good reviews about these clubs and that they're Ultra Game Improvement (I think that comes from Maltby's Playability Factor) so I'm hoping I can get several years out of them and get my handicap way down.
  11. So how did you like the MX950's? I'm looking into getting a set, maybe used if I can find a good deal.
  12. Anyone fan's of the Ping G10's or I3 OS? Are these both GI or are only the G10's? I see them going used on the Bay for decent prices. I also see the Mizuno MX-950 going for decent used prices on Ebay, and this set comes with two hybrids which seems an advantage over the others mentioned.
  13. I'm resurrecting this thread because it's got some topics in it that are exactly what I'm looking to get answered. I'm new to the game and looking to pick up a set of irons, probably GI or SGI, for about $200-$300. Going on the Bay with the recommendations in this thread, I'm finding that the Wilson CI7's are going for about $250 brand new whereas the OS2's are going for about that used. I'd like to stay under $300 for a set of irons and preferably closer to $200 but would be willing to go to $300 for a good used set that is a good deal. Between the two I mentioned, which would be a better deal for a GI set of irons? What else is in my price range for used GI/SGI clubs in that price range?
  14. I saw the Adams Tight Lies Plus at Dicks yesterday and was impressed. I resisted the urge to pull the trigger there and drop $499 + tax and went home to log onto ebay....long story short I won a complete set for $375 shipped!
  15. Hey, this is my first post here. I've been looking at options for buying my first set of clubs, and didn't want to spend over $400. The options were either going for a complete set or buying used. Being new to this, I wasn't quite sure what to look for in used and where, so I decided to go the complete set route. I was at Dicks Sporting goods yesterday and saw the 2009 Adams Golf Tight Lies Plus set for $499, a bit steep. So, I logged onto ebay last night and found the same set and won it for $375 shipped. What do you guys/gals think of this set? Is this Adams lowest end set? How do the clubs feel i.e. driver, irons, putter? Thanks!
