Getting fitted Friday what to expect
Bungiex88 replied to Bungiex88's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
First he gave me an iron and put a sticker on the bottom and on the face and made me hit balls off a hard plastic surface several times to see where I was contacting the ball on the face and where my club was contacting the ground right behind the ball. Then after that he put a monitor on the shaft which measured tempo and torque which would tell me what shaft to use. It also measured when my hands would release. -

I had my mind made up on the tour edge hot launch3 irons 3 to pw with a tour edge sand wedge of a different model. I didn’t want to spend a fortune on clubs and they carry a lifetime warranty which yea probably never use it but just nice. I was looking a Mizuno mp18 and the taylormade p790 irons but my game isn’t good enough right now to justify paying that much for irons. -

Got all fitted up and it was fun. Took an hour since I already had my mind made up on what I was getting. Neat program they used showed everything about my grip swing and contact with the ball -

I know I already gained a decent amount I went down last week and he gave me a 7 iron and the driver and a bucket of balls to hit on the range with them it was night and day. I was hitting the new 7 iron between 150 and 170 which isn’t even close to my old irons and I was super happy. Not to mention it was such a soft hit compared to my old irons which feel like you are hitting a tree every time. The driver I did no good with but you could give me a $1000 driver and it would be the same. -
Going Friday to buy my first new irons. Never actually got fitted for clubs before. This will be my first new set of clubs ever. Still working of the $50 pawnshop clubs I got when I was 12 I am no 30. How’s the process go and about how long does this take. Should I take my old clubs so they can see what I have been using before or don’t they care about that.
-
I decided on tour edge hot launch 3. Went and tested them out and was able to hit further and softer with the new ones compared to my old 60’s clubs. Going to get fitted on Friday. It might be hard to retire my old clubs since I’ve been using them since 1999

This one is brand new still half wrapped in plastic never used. I’ll take 15 minutes out of my day to save $80 for not buying a brand new one.
-
I did pick some mouse nests out from the bottom of it
-
It’s vinyl. I ended up drizzling a little dawn on the outside and in then sprayed with a hose now it’s hung up in my basment with a dehumidifier blowing on it
-
My buddy gave me a brand new bag since I was looking for one. He won it at a tournament but was sitting in his shed for years. It has a little stink to it like mice might of got into it. What’s the best way to clean a bag like that. Would I be able to sprinkle dawn dish soap all on it and soak it with the hose then let dry. Has anyone had to clean a bag like that.

Pennsylvania Fitting search

I’m in central pa and looking at getting new clubs and have been reccomended to blair county golf and driving range. That got an indoor hitting area and right outside a driving range. Stopped in once looking for a used 1 iron and they hooked me up. As soon as a do a little more research I’m heading down to test some clubs. And from what the guy that reccomended me to them said I think they throw in the fitting for free if you buy clubs off them -
Yes the hot launch 3
-
Yes the guy at the shop was saying he’s been selling a lot of them. I was looking at the tour edge hl3 irons. Was trying to find the mpf rating of them but can’t find it anywhere
-
No I’m not against hollow iron that’s all they make now. And I just bought a used 1 iron at the shop but haven’t got to use it on course yet
-
Holy crap the price is unreal
-
Does anyone know if there’s a mpf rating on the tour edge hl3 irons yet
-
I’ll have to see if the shop I go to carries that Titleist tmb 2 iron and that Mizuno mp18. I like the price of the Mizuno but seems like the Titleist is of a little better quality
-
Lol I have no idea what a handicap is. I know I usually play 9 holes and on my best day I’ll be 4 over par. On a bad day I can be 10 to 12 over. So average somewhere in between there. Now I haven’t golfed much in the past 5 years maybe once or twice a summer but I’m going to start playing a lot more when I can. I want to buy a set a clubs that’s of good quality And won’t have to worry about getting a new set of clubs for awhile again. I usually screw my score up on the putting green
-
Yea I told the guy at the shop I wanted to come down when I have a couple hours to kill and hit around.
-
Yea I did see that on eBay I just won’t spend that much money if I can’t put my hands on it. I don’t think they make that club anymore
-
I will look into it thanx for the help That would make sense after watching the videos the one guy posted on here with that guy reveiwing an old 1 iron then the new 2 iron. He was hitting a lot farther with the 2 iron then the 1 iron.

I bought these in the mid 90’s at a pawn shop which came with actual wood woods and driver. I’m still rocking the irons but the wooden woods are long gone. Wondering if anyone would know when these clubs where made.
-
But I also don’t want to buy junk. The clubs i have I bought when I was around 12 and a pawn shop for $50. Heck the woods when I bought it were still made of wood. But those woods are long gone now. I don’t have a problem with my irons right now there just starting to get beat up pretty bad. Even the shafts are showing signs of rust. So I’m sure anything I buy will fee a lot better then 1980’s technology to me but I’ve been golfing more and more now and would like to get a decent set to last me awhile again. I’m good on woods I just need an iron set. I don’t use a driver because I’m no good at at I’ve been teeing off with a 3 iron for most of my golf outing but recently bought a used 1 iron from the shop I go to so I can’t wait to see how that goes.
-
Yea the club I went to yesterday let’s you demo everyday. I see they had couple hundred clubs sitting at the demo tee inside . I told the guy I was going to comeback when I didn’t have the baby to try some stuff out I had just bought 1 of 2 used 1 irons he had in the back just to try. I’ve used a hybrid iron 1 time and did t really like it at all not sure what degree it was.

Looking at replacing my ancient iron clubs with something newer. I’ll spend on the high end probably 900 or 1000 but don’t want to if I don’t have to. I’ve read good things of tour edge clubs but looks like they have different tiers of clubs. Looking for steel shaft and regular irons no hybrids. I’m not really up to date on new technology when it comes to golf clubs and I don’t have a specific brand. The irons I own now are star flite Ram irons. I’m looking for a set starting with a 3 iron to PW. Any recommendations and personal reviews would be much appreciated.
