  1. Worked for a week daily on my setup and grip, and must say things have improved a lot (at least on the range). Especially, it does feel weird anymore to swing the irons. Hit my irons (PW-7 iron) straight 9/10. If feel like I need to work on contact and distance, though. E.g. my 7 irons consistently only goes 120 yards.
  2. Thanks for your feedback. I actually had two independent teachers. The first one was after 3 months (just 2 hours) and he essentially tought me to do quarter and half swings on the range. I did this for a couple of months and felt it made me forget to do full swings. Then I took another teacher and booked 6 x 1hr private lessons and we went through putting, chipping, pitching and full swings. Unfortunately the last two parts (pitching/ full swings) did not really help me.. I guess I have to try my luck finding another affordable teacher in my area.. Regarding grip, I recently adapted a stronger grip (hoping to compensate for my tendency to have an open club face at impact) which I felt helped me getting force behind the ball.. I generally have much more "problems" with irons than with the woods, hybrid and even driver.
  3. Hi, here is my swing thread (without ball, no time for DR this week): password for videos: dg1 Thanks for you input.
  4. I've been Playing Golf for: 1.5 yr My current handicap index or average score is: 115 My typical ball flight is: 3Hy (180-190), PW (80yd high, or topped to the right) The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Cannot hit my irons (at all), not at all as reliable as my 3Hy (or 3 Wood) Video password = dg1 Videos: 3Hy front: https://player.vimeo.com/video/280798325 PW front: https://player.vimeo.com/video/280798338 3Hy front: https://player.vimeo.com/video/280798360 PW front: https://player.vimeo.com/video/280798350
  5. No offense taken 🙂 I still have the matching irons of that Wilson set, however I bought the Ping clubs 4 months because I was kind of not happy with them.. I guess I can take the Wilson PW on the range as well and compare it. From just doing practice swings in my office, they feel very similar to the Ping's..
  6. Hi, here are two images (probably not really helpful to you). Unfortunately there is no written part on the hybrid shaft.
  7. So, my iron shots definitely tend to go very high and short (if I am not hitting it thin to the right). I noticed on videos of me a couple of months ago, that I flip my wrist through impact in addition to maybe slightly casting the club. I was trying to work on this by doing quarter swings and concentrating on keeping the wrists in front of the clubhead.. Is there a reason you could think of why I am more prone doing these mistakes with my irons vs hybrid/wood? Regarding club head speed, I never measured it.. so I don't know.
  8. The irons have True Temper S300 ("stiff") steel shafts. The wood has a graphite shaft, and the 3-hybrid also a steel shaft (not sure what flex rating, as those were quite cheap). Actually, that's what I am currently mostly doing, just the distance control suffers quite a lot below 150 yards (particularly on up/downhill Par 3s)...
  9. Thanks for all those quick responses. I will go ahead and film myself with the hybrid and PW this week out on the range, so you guys can help me figure this out. I bought clubs from my neighbor (Ping iBlade Black Dots), but I used Ping's color chart to make sure shaft length and lie fit to my height and wrist-to-floor distance. The hybrid and wood, I have is a cheap Wilson (Tour RX) I kept from my beginner combo set.
  10. Hi, I play the game for a year now and average a 110 on the courses in my area. I am struggling hitting my irons comfortably compared to my 3 Hybrid or 3 wood. I recently adapted a strong grip hoping to improve consistency and it helped only to further improve my Hybrid and Wood shots. I hit my 3 Hybrid around 190 yards and 3 wood 210 yards. For example my PW only goes 80 yards (I guess "thin") but most of the time I top it to the right. When trying the same swing I do for the hybrid the irons (PW, 9, 8, below I don't even try) just feel weird, in that the weight distribution feels completely different, confusing me on how to guide the club through the swing. What would you guys work on? I took a couple of lessons already, but did not feel they helped me with that issue.. Thanks for your feedback!
