Golfetail on ebay legit?
jamvr10 replied to jamvr10's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Thanks for the reply! My fear is they do the old switcharoo in giving a legit 8iron and the rest of the set is a fake. But a 99.7 rating has to mean something. All their bad reviews were about shipping or customer service, not that they were selling fakes. I would imagine that us golfers would know they sold us a hunk of metal that look like an authentic, and they would have bad reviews for selling fakes. All i see are people pissed about shipping, and even those people are few are far between. Guess a new set of Diablo edge are on the way. Made my purchase. -

Callaway Big Bertha 2008 Irons..Good set?
jamvr10 replied to jamvr10's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
anyone? really would love a review thanks -
Now that i got fitted its time to shop for new clubs. im looking at the callaway big bertha 2008 in steel, i hit a demo set (standard length, not my +1.5) but they felt great and very forgiving. Any fans out there?
-
Went back, used a different fitter. He thought i was more like +1 inch but he did think +1.5 and 2up would work too. Kinda reluctantly agreed with my golf teacher. He did take the time to look at my grip, im glad he did since he told me i need oversize grips as well. Cost comes out to $170 to add 1 inch of length, change all the irons to 2 up, and then regrip and weight them...for that price i think im going to just have a custom set ordered from their site. I see you can build some great sets to custom. any of you ever use that on their site? the builder said if i used the site and added length the weight on some of the clubs would not be correct. is that true? Wow, this is complex!!! Any of you ever hit or like the Callaway Big Bertha 08? Im leaning to those vs the sumos.

so if i go to a total of +1.5 inches, do you reccomend going 2 up? everyone that sees me swing says i am bent over way too much, we worked on trying to make my back more straight during set up, but then my set up looks un-hittable..and it is like that! Next question is do i have them add length and re-grip? or get custom shafts from golfsmiths?
-
im 6'3 i have nike sumo irons +1/2 in stiff steel My teacher thinks im way to hunched over the ball, he thought my clubs looked too short for me, and that i was out of posture. He had me swing a 7 iron that was +1.5 inches, it felt great. He really does not agree with golfsmiths results. He thinks I need 1.5 inches over standard, and 2 up lie. My session at golfsmith went like this...They put tape on my 6 iron and had me swing twice. My 2 swings were not consistent. The guy measured my wrist to floor, and went in the back for 5 minutes. He then came out and said i should keep the legth and lie the way it is. What the hell should i do?

jamvr10 replied to jamvr10's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting

Im going to buy a new hybrid today, im down to 2 choices Nickent 5dx 24.5* vs Mizuno clk fli hi 26* in steel ive read amazing reviews about the Nickent, and the mizuno. these clubs are not available to demo here, What do you guys think of the mizuno in steel? Should it be easier to hit and control since its steel? What would you chose?

3 Wood or 4 Wood for my new R9 Fairway??
jamvr10 replied to jamvr10's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
well can you tell me the advantage and negatives for going for the 4 over the 3. From your point of view not going to have time to A/B them -
Hit my friends R9 4 Fairway wood and loved it. Local shop has it only in a 3 wood. Can any of you guys help me with the difference on the 2 of them? guy at the shop said more control and higher flight with the 4, and the 3 would go 10 yards farther but may be a little harder to hit, and harder with control. Would you agree with that? Should I wait for the 4 R9 or just buy the 3 wood R9? thanks

Graphite vs Steel Irons for a high handicapper?
jamvr10 replied to jamvr10's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
thanks for the reply, i do think i can dial it down a bit. Ive been trying to not murder every ball i hit anyway. I have been striking the ball well, getting it off the ground nicely. My troubles are that im either leaving the face too open, or too closed. That is resulting in me hitting it either way left or way right. My aim stinks. I have demo the clubs in graphite and loved them. Im just worried about having even less control than i already have. any of you ever hit with the callaway ft i-brid irons? -
Ive been hearing conflicting advice on Graphite vs Steel Irons for a high handicapper. Guy in Edwin Watts told me to go for stiff steel. Then another guy there told me to get stiff graphite. Im 6'3 and stong, swing speed is 98, my last time out i shot a 101 (thats good for me) currently using a used set of nike sumos. But i was hitting with the Callaway ft i-brids in stiff graphite, i loved them. But then again i was hitting indoors and couldnt see the ball flight. Im very tempted to get the Callaway ft i-brid in stiff graphite but i dont want to hurt my game anymore than its hurting already. thanks for the advice

jamvr10 replied to jamvr10's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
