185 s57's with Z-Z65 shafts

Last week I played on Friday afternoon. I met up with a few friends and played with them. One of them is a club Pro. Another one played in high school as well and is a great player. The 3rd one played D1 golf and has played in a few professional events. I played great. I shot a 73. Of course I didn't win, but I played great and struck the ball crisp over and over. I played this weekend with a few friends and we were just screwing around. We were keeping score and everything but nothing serious and those guys are not as good. I shot 47 on 9 holes..Hit 2 OB. Struck the ball fine for the most part just mental errors, lack of focus and all that. Played much much much faster with my friends than with the really good players. I think sometimes who you play with can determine how good of a player you are going to become more than anything else. The better players help keep you focused and usually something is on the line.

all wedge shots should be more of an arm swing. Let the weight of the club and gravity do its thing. Also dont forget to turn your hips through the shot. The shorter clubs make it more difficult to get your hips through so sometimes people rock back and forth on wedges instead of turning their hips through the shot.

last time I got a lesson the guy asked me what I shot and I said around 80 or so. He said I would have thought you shot close to even par or better. I felt a lot better about my swing but felt immediately much worse about my short game. lol

I am hitting the S57's. Just got them and love them. They look sweet and feel great. They even offer a little forgiveness. The AP2's look pretty sweet as well, but I have never hit them. I am just wondering how they feel. How forgiving are they? How do they compare to the Pings? thanks

just wondering if anyone out there besides me is hitting these irons and loving them? I am shooting some lower scores and having some really good ball striking rounds with these irons. I am just wondering what everyone else's thoughts on these irons were..

man I am almost in the exact same boat, but I have been playing again for about 5 years really. I hit Mizuno MX25's because the guy pushed them on me. I played them for about a year and they are good clubs, but I wanted something I could work a little better with a little less off set.. I just bought the s57's. I have only played 3 rounds with them. Not really sure how I like them. I love the feel of good solid contact, but off shots are more accentuated as you could guess. My first 2 rounds were on a weekend golf trip and I think me and the fellas had had a few too many the night before so I am erasing that round from my memory..lol I hit them again today and they were butter for the most part. I hit a 7 iron from aobut 175 out and went about 10 yards too long, but it felt great. I have heard a lot of good things about these irons. Post again and let me know how you are hitting them. I'd like to see the response of these irons from other people playing them.

couple of things... 1. Make sure you are not overly comfortable with the people you play with. I know you want to be relaxed and not anxious every time you play, but if you play with the same people over and over you can both get comfortable and take chances and mulligans and just be way too relaxed. Play with different people. Maybe in the dogfight at your local club. 2. put something on the line. Even if its small bets, quarter a dot. Knowing something is actually on the line should help you focus better throughout the round. 3. Develop a good pre-shot routine thats consistent. Take a deep breathe before you swing and focus on making good contact with the ball instead of swing mechanics.. hope this helps..

tiger hits his 3 wood 300 so most players are going to be fine with a 450 yard par 4.. but it really depends on the shape of the hole.. Is it a dog-leg? Up hill? Down Hill? wide open so they can try to crush the driver or tight and need to hit 3 wood? Is the fairway or greens guarded by bunkers? water? If its just a straight away 450 yard par 4 with a wide open fairway and little trouble then its not going to be a problem for any player who is a single digit handicapper..
