  1. well your cutting the ball because at your top swing it doesnt look like your letting the club fall down naturally, you shift it, and then you come in ever so slightly from the outside in. you can see it in the video that is behind you.
  2. I guess I can see how some guys are like that, but whether im playing a practice round or in a tournament, I like to know where i am at so i know how aggresive i need to get.
  3. haha yeah thats exactly what i just said. I never said u need big biceps... i just said being tone with quick muscles and good technique and you can hit a good drive. Yea there are fat out of shape guys who r good golfers. do they bomb it? No. do they have a solid game? absolutely. Ernie isnt exactly a small guy though, he is kinda tall and long and that alone can build good clubhead speed.
  4. Dyna your right and your wrong. who can hit it further, the average guy who has been golfing for the last 10 years or the physically fit or atheltic guy? Usually the average guy. But your wrong when you say being physically fit doesnt have squat to do with hitting it long. and your wrong bubba watson is a strong guy, and lets not forget his 6.5 degree driver isnt getting him some etra distance. To bomb it everything has to be in sync, duh, but if your trying to tell me being physical fit doesnt help bomb drives, then i wonder why the hell tiger and some of the other guys hit the weights with light reps to build quick muscles? I guess that doesnt help him bomb it according to you. So what im saying is, two average guys out golfin, the one who is physical stronger will most likely, not always hit it a little further. What gets you decent? club head speed. its as simple as that. so once u do have everything together, you try to build clubhead speed. how do u do that? you get quick, strong muscles. So dont even think of trying to tell me a 5'9 guy that weighs 170 pounds thats sat on his ass and hasnt done anything physical since he was in 5th grade doin a lap around the gym will be able to drive as long as a guy who is either naturally an athlete or has put the time in to build himself into one. Weither u like it or not thats the truth.
  5. Well i'll just say this. I graduated from high school this year and will be playing college golf. I swing on average about 80-85 percent on my average drive, im more consistent that way and it also gives me more room if i really do need to bomb one. but just the other day i took a range finder to the course and i didnt mess with it much, i think just one drive i ranged it because i mainly used it for irons just messing around. Well the ball took two bounces in the rough and just got into the fairway, and i ranged it at 283 and that was without my ideal ball flight. In high school golf i was always one of the longer hitters but obviously there were guys that could hit it further than that. The average golfer smashes one to get it 250. key word "smash". then there are the exception of guys who are just phsyical built, and can smash it crazy distances WHEN they connect. On a message board people alot of the times, not all the time but some times, will just throw out a figure just to do so, but i feel that people r fairly honest with themselves out there on the course. Especially where i golf because that involves taking the risk of driving over water, and its pretty cut and dry i mean you can or ya cant. thats my 2 cents.
  6. Alright, does anybody else have those days where you just cant solidly strike the ball? No matter what you do you cannot do it right, and it just feels like your swinging good, yet u have no control over it? This period may last a day, or even a week or 2, in some guys cases a lifetime haha. Well the last few days ive been in a funk. I usually shoots mid to high 30's somewhat consistently, and today i went out and shot a 49 and took a 11 on a par 5. Its almost like ive over golfed, if thats possible. So I know other people have this wierd things happen to them, and i think its a good topic to talk about! So what do u do when you get there?
  7. When the club gets to the back of your swing, let the club drop down naturally, dont force it down. If your are still slicing the you are turning your shoulders and cutting across the ball. So go to the rang and once you set your stance and everything is lined up properly, then when you hit the balls do not have any movement except in your arms, not shoulder turn no body turn maybe not even full swings until you figure it out. Make sure you are letting the club come down on its own. Since your not turning your shoulders across the ball u wont cut it. From there work on your swing to keep your shoulders somewhat more aligned to the target at impact. I am left handed, but if you right handed when you swing the club, it might feel wierd at first, but at impact you make sure your right shoulder stays back and they dont rotate to soon, and when you impact the ball make sure to then complete your swing. Let me know how it goes okay.
  8. Hey man thanks for the reply! Im leaving for the course right now, I'll let ya know how it goes!
  9. Thanks for the replies. You see my "chunks" arent that bad, they just cause me to leave the ball short. There is the rare occasion that I will chunk one pretty good, but not to often. I am just looking for that crisp clean contact more often.
  10. It seems that I have a slight tendancy to hit the ball kinda fat, or strike the ground just before i strike the ball. I shot around an 80, and if I could quit having those 5 shots a round where I kinda chunk it my score would drop considerably. Any advice? I play the ball in my middle of my stance, maybe slightly forward. I focus on the top part of the ball. any advice?? thanks!
  11. Well I tried what finn said, which did help some. I focused on swinging the club on the downswing on the same path as when I brought it back. It is funny, I played a good round of golf and hit all my drives pretty nicely, then I went out the next day and it was slicing... now i think i am leaving the club face open because I am not rotating my wrists back around.. ohh this is getting frustrating.
  12. Thank you for the reply... That makes good sense, I will have to test it tomorrow.
  13. Hey guys. Okay, I know what my problem is, but i cant fix it. A really good golfer at a course pointed out my problem. What happens is when i get to the top of my swing i like twist my body and that causes me to come across the ball and it slices to the left. I am a left handed golfer. What is really weird is for the last couple years I would crush them dead straight, sometimes with a slight fade. this whole summer though has been a battle all because of the slices. The guy who watched me hit said I had my shoulders to involved and I was rotating them to much. I always go to parallel and at times when I want to crush it i might go a touch past. Dont think I am a hacker and I just swing as hard as I can. It is a good swing with good tempo. Any ideas for how to help fix what I am doing wrong? Your help is much appreciated!!
