OUTSTANDING Thanks a million Joe

Ok, bear with me here. (new golfer) Yesterday in my league on a par 4 I was in a greenside bunker. I hit my sandwedge and the shot went onto the green and about 4 inches from the hole. Another fella said Nice up and down ? Can someone explain to me what Up and down mean? Did I mention I love this game!!!!! Joe

I just recently acquired a new club set G10 anyway the set did not come with a pitching wedge. It does have a gap wedge that I seem to play pretty well but seems to roll to much for me on the green . I found myself on the course yesterday in a position where a PW would of been helpful. My Dilemma, these clubs are going nowhere and will stick with me forever (I love em) Do I call ping and get the matching PW or do I get a Vokey or something else to fill the hole. I just started golfing this year and am having a blast learning etc. I was pretty excited as I hit a 44 yesterday for the first time. hehehehehehe Anyway, any advice would be great. I do have to mention I have this nasty ole rusty Vokey Sandwedge that I can do no wrong with. Hit it awesome. PArt of me thinks I should get a vokey PW Your thoughts are welcome Joe

I may be? I think it's odd if I hit my driver with no tee it dont slice......As bad :) I think I need more of a sweeping motion

I did hit from that swing analyzer at golfsmith and they said I have a ton of and too much back spin. My swing speed is 85-90 range not too fast but had a broken hand a few years ago and it still bothers me. I'm afraid to get a higher loft because they said I have so much back spin now.

Been working on my driver and fairway woods. I got the ball to start out pretty straight but at about 200 yards that baby starts to fade big time. I used to slice real bad but seem to have worked that out. My Leauge buddy tells me the ball is spinning too much....Ummmm OK but does not give any tips on how to solve it. I've tried different balls but no luck My Driver is a Taylor Made 07 9.5 loft reg shaft. Bear wit me as being a new golfer and maybe asking a silly question. BTW, I hit my irons G-10 reg shaft very straight :) When I started playing in April I was holding a average of 66 for nine holes. I now hold around a 52 :) I'm pretty excited with the improvement but this spinning ball thing is driving me nuts Currently use snake eyes balls but spin happens with em all Titliest Nike pinnacle etc Any tips on gear /swing etc would be most outstanding Joe EDIT... I also may be nuts here but I notice when I hit my hybrids or fairway wood or even driver off the fairway or out of the rough I hit it straight. Only seems to do it when I hit off a tee. Am I nuts or what???

I had the G5 then returned it for the Upro. Callaway has 100.00 off right now on the upro. No brainer for me. The pics are awesome and smoke the G5 and it's just as accurate. Buddy has one and we compared

I also went thru the same thing 6 mos ago. I ended up with clubs I could not hit very well CG Golds. Anyway, try to buy local ebay has too many fake clubs and being new you may not notice if they are fake. I hear friends complain about counterfeits. If you do, get the serial number from the seller and call to verify they are real. I can make you a great deal on some cg golds + 1/2 long reg :) Got myself a deal on some ping g-10 sweeeeettttttt :) Hit lots of clubs to demo as well

I just picked up a Cleveland Hybrid 19 deg from dicks for 79.00 it was last years model or the year before that. I can smack that sucker 215. Love it. I played it yesterday and GPS said 215 from a bad lie in the rough even.

It was on our league night. Everyone was lookin like...What the heck. Yup, broke every one in half. Some over his knee some on the ball washer pole. Took a few minutes too. Funny thing is I played with him Sunday and he had his old wilsons in his old bag. I kind of felt bad with my new pings with new shafts. He did not care one bit. Shook my hand after the game and said "Looks like those were made for you Bro" Beat him by 2 strokes. Yet another best game ever for me. I think these clubs are a keeper for me :) Joe

Now I gotta figure what to do with the CG Golds. Maybe ebay them. No G-10 on ebay yet. Figures.... BTW That UW plays pretty nice from 50 yards :) Not sure what range its for or how far I hit it yet but from 50 i nailed the pin twice with it :)

Well Thursday really. On my League a guy with more money than brains broke every one of his (NEW) G 10 irons (steel) He pitched the PW in a deep water hazard and looked me in the Eye and said. 100 bucks and they are yours. Cha ching done. Got some recommended shafts from local golfsmith, shafted em up and they play like a dream for me. Best score ever. I was actually looking at some clubs a few weeks ago..thread in here someplace. I can't believe how much easier they are to play compared to my CG golds. Shafts cost me next to nothing. And, got the ping oversized grips Heaven...I'm in Heaven I do need the PW but hey, I hit my CG gold PW pretty good. Guess I could get a diff PW. Suggestions?

Someone here said that opening up your right had so you see the palm more helps in a slice (right hander) YIKES..I was told and been trying that seeing the tom of my right hand helps with the slice... Which is the right way?

Very new golfer. Decided to take some advice I read here as well as from others and put away my driver for now. I started hitting my hybrid 3 iron instead and have to say that I'm on the fairway much more. You gotta know the range is not all that I'm anywhere from 177 - 200 yards. I'm thrilled. I have tried my fairway woods but find I still slice those pretty bad (just like my driver) Anyway, any other club that I could hit off the tee box to replace my driver that might give me a little more range than the hybrid 3 iron? I have to say my score has gotten better by 10 strokes easy. Guys on my leauge are saying "Hey look, he got smart and put away the driver" What convinced me is we have a gent that is around 70 had a stroke and can barely clear the female tee's He pars or better every time on each hole. Yea, those cobras look tempting. Heading out today to demo some. Man, I wish the guy at golfsmith would of set me up right the first time. Bad thing is I bought em in the winter so really never played them so the 90/90 went out the window. Not this time however :) Cobra SZ look good as well??

I have Cleveland CG golds now and I'm a 6 month golfer. These are just too hard to hit. Few guys in my league tried hitting them and agreed. Looking for a SGI set. 500-600 range. I was thinking the Ping G-10 but not sure it's a SGI set. Any advice on sets would be great. I can say I'm not crazy about hybryds either I have strugled with the CG golds for too long. Heck, I can hit my brother in laws ping g2 really good compared to mine. I just don't think I am ready for just a GI set yet?

On another note. Am I playing irons that are not very forgiving? I have had a few say they are hard to hit. I guess I want to know I have a good set up and stop worrying about my gear. Part of me has it stuck in my head that different clubs would help me hit better. The best I hit for 9 holes was 46 The worst...71 ouch And my brother in law talked me into getting in his league. Yea, that does nothing to help motivate me..Those guys are killer golfers.

When I was fitted it was hitting balls with the tape and lie board etc. My Divots are from the toe hitting the ground first. That's when I get a good swing. Being new, my swing can be and is at times all over the place :) Being partly a mind game as well, having the lie changed may make me feel like it fixed my righty shots ?? Guy at the local pro shop looked at them and said they are pretty flat?? Not sure what that meant. That was before extending them 1/2" He also said the Cleveland cg gold are pretty flat to begin with

So, I just started playing this year. My clubs are Cleveland CG Golds 2008. I am taking lessons but my teacher has no advice on this matter. I'm pretty tall and have had a fitting done. Suggested I lengthen my clubs by 1/2" and change/check the lie. After extending I had the lie checked again and they are saying 1 deg up would be a good thing for me. My question is this. Being such a new golfer is this a smart move? Can these clubs be bent? I hit to the right a lot and after adding the 1/2" I noticed the ball going down the center a bit more. I know the 1/2" gave me 1 deg up but I need a total of 2 deg up. Anyway, should I get these bending deg things out of my head and just practice more or do I want to get this done and maybe practice with the corect set up BTW, LOVE THIS SITE

So, decided to take up golf with a push (more like a shove) from my Brother in law. I'm 46 semi retired and must have lost my mind taking up this game. I do love it however. Looking forward to making a post cause I got a million questions. Great site Joe
