I'm not very good with my 4i and thinking to remove it from my bag to make room for another wedge. To cover the distance gap, I'm thinking to choke down 2 inches on my 3 hybrid. Has anyone here tried to choke down a 3 hybrid to replace a 4 iron with good success and accuracy? Many thanks

Anyone can help? Thanks. -
I am currently using 2009 Burner driver and loving it. However, I'm hearing a lot of good things about Burner Superfast 2,0. Just want to find out from those who have used both on how do you compare between the 2 drivers. The point is if the performance improvement is only marginal (say 5%), it just won't make sense for me to waste the money to buy a new drivers. Many thanks.

Question on Ping G15 for low handicappers
very handicap replied to very handicap's topic in Golf Talk
Sorry my bad. I did not make myself clear. I meant to say Ping G15 iron set. I'm not talking about drvers. -
Just wonder any low handicapper out there using Ping G15? I would like to hear your view why you are using it. If you have used it before but have swapped it out of your bag, i would like to hear your view and the reason why you switch too. Thank.

I've been playing golf for 3 years. My score range from 80-100. In the last 2 months, I have tried everything to increase my driving distance by swinging harder and faster. I think i managed to increase it a bit from 220 yards to around 240 yards, but the dispersion is hugely increased, not to mention about the sore and ache I have to put up with after every round of golf. Today, I decided to try something different. Instead of trying to kill the ball with every shot, I just focus on hitting a slow and easy swing. I would say I was probably using a strength of 2 out of 10 for every shot. I came back with a score of 83 playing from blue tee. Due to the easy swing, my driver is back to around 220 yards and hence I was not able to GIR on some of the longer par 4, but every shot was literally on the fairway or green which is a so difference from when I tried to muscle the game and practically have to play most shots from the rough. What surprise me is that some of the shot go as far as when I hit with full strength if not further. I was totally surprised. Is this how golf supposed to be played? Any of the low handicapper here can share your view? Should I continue to play like this?

I have been trying everything to improve my driving distance. I have changed 4 drivers, gone for driver fitting, go to range 3 times a week. Nothing seems to help. My last driver fitting shows that my swing speed is 95mph, smash factor 1.49 to 1.5. And my carry distance is only 200 yards. On the course, a good drive only goes 220 yards. What can I do to increase my driving? Feel like giving up trying.

Thanks for all the comments. I guess I'm not making myself clear. When I say I hit them bad, I don't mean I'm topping, slicing, or hooking the ball badly. My usual drive is around 220 yds but I just feel that my dispersion could be better. Instead of switching among drivers, I'm thinking to just stick to one and try to gain more consistency with it. Hopefully with the gain of confidence I will be able to whack the ball further too.

I have the following 3 drivers and hit them equally bad. I would like to seek your opinion on which is the most forgiving and easiest to hit so I will focus on just one and hopefully able to horn my driving skill better.

I read a magazine recently that makes me wonder if i'm doing something wrong with my impact position. Imagine you put a ball on the ground in the normal set up position, instead of hitting ball at 3 o'clock and hit through at 9 o'clock, we should impact the ball at 4 o'clock and exit at 10 o'clock. This is something new to me. Do all the good players play like this? Do we need do this for every clubs in your bag? Thanks.

I'm using a set of Ping G15 AWT regular steel shaft 4-PW and a Cleveland DST graphite R-flex 3 hybrid. For some reason, my hybrid shot is always 10-20 yards to the right of all my iron shots. Has anyone experienced this before? Is my hybrid shaft to flex or too stiff or too light for me? Any one have similar problem transition from longer iron to hybrid and find that they don't have the same characteristic or behavior? Thanks.

It means i have to use my longer club most of the time for my 2nd shot. If the green is further than 175 yards which is my 4 iron distance, i will lose the chance to GIR as my hybrids and woods are not as accurate.
-
Sorry, you are right. I suspect I have increased the loft of my club hence the ball flight is high. Thanks for correcting.

I'm 6 ft 2, 200 lbs and 44 years old. I'm not very athletic but I do golf 2 to 3 times a week. In the last 1 year, I have gradually moved from a hard hitter to a smooth swinger. Since then, I've realized that my accuracy has improved significantly but distance became a victim. If i play white tee, i can comfortably play high 70s to low 80s. My only problem is, my 7iron can only hit 145 yards, and my 5 irons can only hit 165 yards. Is this way too short? I do notice that my ball flight is quite high, and this suggest that i may be delofting the club. Should I continue to play this way? Thanks.

Is it possible for a person to have 2 different type of swing? First a John Daly type of swing to rotate and swing as wide as possible to bomb the tee shot 300 yards down the fairway, follow by a 3/4 accuracy swing to get the ball on the green in 2 for a par 4? I have in the last 2 years shortening my swing to 3/4 swing and seem to have amazing accuracy in GIR. The only problem is my tee shot is now down to 220 yards. This is ok for short courses and i can come home with a low 80 score, but on blue tee or any longer course, i will return with a 90s. Anyone comments?

What Is the Distance Gain From Stiff to Regular Shaft?
very handicap replied to very handicap's topic in Golf Talk
Kevin, Are you suggesting we should have 2 type of swings. The first is a driver swing where you bomb the driver as hard as you can, and the second is an iron swing where you use a nice tempo slower swing for accuracy. Can this be done? I always thought that we should use one swing for all clubs in the bag. I could be wrong. -
What Is the Distance Gain From Stiff to Regular Shaft?
very handicap replied to very handicap's topic in Golf Talk
What is the distance gain? 10%? -
When I first started golfing, I used to hit hard and my average driving was around 270 yards. As a result, I was custom fitted with a stiff shaft during one of the fitting session several years ago. Over the last few years, I noticed my driving distance is reducing. Partly due to age, and partly due to controlled swing as i value accuracy more these days. Hence, my driving is only about 220 yards. This makes playing blue tee a bit of a struggle some times. I'm thinking of going back to the club fitter and get fitted with a regular shaft. Before I do that, I just want to find out from the folks here if anyone has similar experience and how much distance gain you can get for changing the driver shaft from stiff to regular. Many thanks.
