I prefer to use the waffle balls for practice, they give you a better idea if you are going inside/out or outside/in.

Yeah, sounds to me like your timing was probably just spot-on....I know sometimes I get my arms around and don't wait on my hips to turn. But when everything is in sync...you get a day like you had. Keep at it and maybe the fluke 'long-day' can become the norm.
