  1. Who is insulting him? He quite clearly states that he has been playing for a month, and I understand that everyone must start somewhere. A mental journal - jees man the guy is looking to make his golf a little better not write a thesis on the thing! All I am saying is that if he wants technical advice he should seek it from a professional who will be able to explain it through feelings rather than the rubbish youve blurted out of Golf Monthly. Im sorry if ive came across as harsh, you obv a good guy trying to help and that but the majority of your analysis doesnt even make sense!
  2. The man is super-human. He literally "wills" the ball into the whole... if he was on his game I reckon he'd still win such is his motivation, determination and focus.
  3. Hybrid is the future, they go as far and have many more shot options. 7 woods are things of the past...
  4. bunkerputt, ive never heard so much rubbish in my life! You could spend a week with Butch Harmon and he wouldnt give you this much info! How could any beginner even begin to break this info, sorry this crap down.
  5. I got the club glove - its soft but it is as sturdy and trust worthy as a hard travel cover, without looking like your carrying a coffin through the airport! They are not cheap but a worthwile investment, comes with a protective pole to fit in you bag while using the glove, making it impossible for clubs to get broken. It has about 10 zips and straps so its a pretty safe bet you clubs aint falling out! Get what you pay for!
  6. Dude, youve been playing for a month its vital that you dont get torn up by tecnical thoughts. You wanna focus on basics, think GASP - grip, aim, stance and posture. Try to ensure that these aspects are as they should be, seek some informal advice from someone who is a better player on THESE aspects but nothing more. You need to learn how YOU can get the ball to your target. Everyone is different and depending on many variables, mostly your generic make up and previous sporting participation but you need to feel what works for you. Remember, get you basics right and have fun - as a beginner you will improve with time regardless of thoughs about plane. As a scratch golfer, if I started to think about 'plane' or the like it wouldnt be long before the clubs were on ebay. Let your coach do the thinking, and you are free to focus on targets! Good luck and enjoy!
  7. Zeph, its only the Presidents Cup, its not like its a real tournament. The US guys are just there for charity, to make the Continental team feel like they are part of something!! You are correct on the principle, and if it was a tournament or the Ryder Cup or something it'd be different, Pres Cup is like a piss about though!!
  8. The longer shaft on a driver means that any imperfections in your swing will be emphasised in the golf shot, plus you compress the ball much more with your irons which means they tend to deviate less from their intended path. See a good coach and ask him to get you on video... no doubt its something simple!
  9. This actually shows quite a weakness in Alleby, especially for an estabilshed tour professional. It obvious that AK cares less about what happens on the golf course, as he has such a good life outside it. I dont mean this in a bad way - he is not concerned about end results, he just shows and shoots 65 without much thought. Allenby's game is prob in his head 24/7 when he's bored at home with the wife and kids, and he is pretty ignorant for not seeing this!!
