1.
To your original post, why not stay on the course and tee off with an iron? You will get more long iron practice, more opportunities to hone your course management skills, and will probably score great all things considered. Just keep your driver out of your bag and, like you say, work that swing out at the range. Man, if my putter were on fire, I'd be ON the golf course no matter what!!!
I actually have been hitting 3 iron off the tee, but am way behind everyone else I am playing with. I just want to get to the point that no matter what club i pull out of the bag, I am confident in hitting it.
2. Well looks like the winter layoff has put a spell on my driver... Somehow, I now can't hit my driver. I have developed a snap hook (duck hook, whatever you want to call it). Everything is 50-100 yard hooks straight left into the ground. I went to the range today and tried loosening my grip with my right hand (right-handed) and exaggerate as if I am going to throw the club straight out in front of me. If I do that successfully, I crush it but is a nasty slice right. No clue where to go from here, bc I am hitting everything else better than I ever have before including the putter. Played last weekend where I made myself use driver every time, hit a snap hook every time but still was able to shoot 10 over (ended last year around a 12hcp). So I thought I would post on here and get your alls thoughts. Any advice is much appreciated. Hope everyone is getting plenty of golf in now that the weather seems relatively decent now. Thanks in advance!!!
3. It sounded like it was all the stores, because the grand prize is an entire new set of Taylormade clubs and there is only one winner out of all the stores. I would love to win that complete set!
4. My local Golf Galaxy had a demo day for Taylormade and got to try out both the new R9 SuperTri and the Burner Super-Fast. While the possiblities seem endless with the new technology in the R9, I must say I greatly favored the Burner. This club is super light while keeping that feel of stiffness in the shaft that I wanted. In fact, two of the other guys I went with went in thinking they would be walking out with the new R9 and ended up with the Burner. Both just loved the feel and were consistently 10-15 yards longer than with the R9. I asked if price also came into play, that being the Burner around $250 cheaper. Both agreed that if the prices were switched, the end purchase would have been the same. So if you are in the market for a new driver, definitely check out these 2 new ones from Taylormade. Now all they have to is wait till all this snow melts to start using their new weapons
5. I am excited to try these out and the new TM Penta's! should be getting a sleeve of the Penta at a TM demo day on friday
6. I usually approach these as if I was trying to pitch from a spot that is hard surfaced like a spot that has been walked on a lot, is matted down, and hard. I turn it almost it into a regular pitch shot instead of a normal bunker shot. I have found that it is near impossible to put spin on it too, so adjust to where you need to land the ball as well.
7. i have found I can play different shots depending how I address the ball. I set the ball up at the heel to play a draw because it allows me to roll and get my hands over into the proper position much easier. Other than that i pretty much setup the ball smack in the middle of the clubface. Thats just me though :) every game is different
8. Stricker is so mechanical in all his swings that an adjustment like this really does not make a difference for him. His game hasn't looked better
9. I also found that forward pressing kept me from flying open and slicing the ball.
10. I am having the same problem. Guess I will try to post a couple times and see if this works
