  1. So this year I spent some money and redid my set. I am now playing the Callaway Diablo Edge irons (w/3 and 4 hybrid) as well as the Diablo Edge 9 degree driver. I am about a 20 handicap. I hit the ball longer with these clubs and hit my driver about 250, my 3 hybrid about 210-220 and my 4 hybrid about 180-210. I am trying to decide if I want to add a 3 or 5 wood to my bag. With the distance that I hit my driver, and that fact that my hybrids are not too far away.....does it make sense? Is there a big difference in accuracy from wood to driver? Is it that much better on tighter fairways where I would normally hit my hybrid? Thanks in advance for your input!
  2. I have never done a blind test, but I can definitely tell the difference between a hard and a soft ball. I use the Callaway Diablo Edges but have also played with Pro V1's (I know....from one extreme to the other). The Edges are a much softer ball and feel totally different coming off the club face (especially the driver). They also have less spin and can definitely see the difference there on backspin.
  3. I had the Nike Ignite irons, not the 2's, but doubt here was much change in them as the cost is about the same. I feel like they were good starter irons. I was a big Nike guy and had nothing but Nike in my bag because I felt that you shouldn't have all different brands in your bag. I switched to Callaway and bought the new Diablo Edge irons and all I can say is WOW. The Nike Ignites do not offer anywhere near the amount of distance and launch angle that you get off of the Edges. I literally went from hitting my 7-iron 130-140 yards with my Ignites to about 160 with the Edges. I was also never able to hit a 5-iron until the Edges. I have come to learn that as much as I love Nike, and as cool as their products look, their stuff is just not that great unless you are a pro and they are customizing every little detail to you. Just my two cents.
  4. When tour players play their practice rounds a few days prior to an event, do they follow the normal rules of golf? For example, will a player hit a driver twice off a tee with two different shot shapes to see how it will play in competition? Will they hit an iron twice from the same spot to judge the distance?
  5. Quick question.....does anyone know if in the "Rules of Golf" it is permissible to carry a training aid in your bag if it is not capable of hitting a ball? I just ordered the Swingnature ( www.swingnature.com ) and I think it would be good to use in-between holes (especially in the early stages of a round where you are still loosening up).
  6. So I was hitting a few different clubs the other day at Golf Smith and started narrowing it down. Th?e rep there did a brief fitting for me as I was getting close to making a decision. When he put the tape on the bottom of the club to check where I was hitting, it showed that I was consistently hitting the ground more with the heel. I have two questions just in case I decide to finish out the season with my current clubs: 1.) If I am hitting more with the heel, could I adjust this in my setup by being closer to the ball which would flatten the bottom of the club out at impact? 2.) I am currently hitting the Nike Ignite irons, does anyone know if they can be bent to fix my issue or do those clubs look like they can only be bent when they are being made? http://www.edwinwattsgolf.com/golf-e...51_-1_1106.htm Thanks in advance!!!
  7. I was playing the NXT Extreme's for a while and liked them. I recently did a ball fitting for $20 at Golf Galaxy, and although I think they remove Titleist as a option in order to promote other brands, I enjoyed playing the new ball they recommended (Callaway Big Bertha Diablo). I would recommend doing a fitting to make sure you are not paying for more than your swing/swing speed can afford. I forgot to mention that you can also get ProV1 practice balls for about $25 a dozen. They are brand new but have some slight imperfection that does not affect the average player.
  8. I don't know if they have the best software people working on it. When I bought my uPro it did not work with my computer right away. I called up tech support and they told me often times the drivers in the units are messed up. He walked me through downloading the drivers again and it works now, but when I plug it into my computer, I have to go into My COmputer, then click on the drive, then go to the folder that has the "sync" icon and then click on that. For some reason the .exe file that is supposed to launch the site does not work. Oh well. Still love the uPro.
  9. I have a uPro and love it. Just be sure to buy the courses in bulk. A single course will run you about $10, but the price comes down if you buy a bunch of credits at a time. It also comes with credits for one course.
  10. Thanks for the help. I actually love the club. I switched from a Nike SQ 5900 and am very happy with the upgrade. Shorty...you asked about the head cover. It is funny but I would never have reviewed a head cover until now when someone asked me. I actually find it to be a pain in the a*s. Instead of just pushing the head into he sleeve, you have to use one hand to stretch it out and then put the club head in.
  11. I bought the new Nike MachSpeed driver today and took it to the range. I know this may seem odd, but I was not 100% sure of the right way to hit it. I set it to the "L" setting which is supposed to promote left to right movement. The thing is, I am not 100% sure how to properly address the ball. Do I line up so that the club face is flat to the ball, or the way the club naturally lies in this setting, which is a semi closed in look? If my description does not make sense, I will take some pics of the two addresses mentioned above. The reason I am asking is because I hit the ball decent using both addresses.
  12. Before I bought my Callaway uPro, I was using the "Golf Card" app on my iPhone 3G. I believe at the time it was $10 and all courses were free. I am not sure if it was because I had the 3G and not the 3GS, but it was really slow. One cool thing however was that you were able to sync your scorecards with a site called oobgolf.com, which would then save your scores and compute your handicap. If it wasn't for the speed, I probably would have kept using it instead of the uPro. Good overall stat keeping as well (e.g. greens in reg., putts, sand shots, etc.).
  13. Tough to say. Although they moved me to a different brand, they did move me to a cheaper ball so i would like to think that there is some validity to it. If they would have moved me to a more expensive ball I would have had my doubts. I did tell the guy beforehand what ball I was shooting.
  14. Thanks for all the input. They charged me $18 for the person who asked.
