  1. Just got the new Titelist 913FD 13.5 deg 3 wood with x-stiff diamana white shaft. Have played several rounds with and all I can say is Wow! Easily the longest 3 wood I've ever hit and picked up a good 15-20 yds from my previous Mizuno F50 3 13.5 deg 3 wood. This club rocks off the tee. It is really hard to hit it off the fairway due to its size, but I have not practiced hitting it much off the deck. I'm a 5 handicap and here in Fort Collins (5,000 ft elevation) I drive the ball with my Titleist 910D3 driver 310-320 yds. Easily hitting the new 3 wood 280-290 off tee with a great low boring right to left trajectory. For past 20 years I usually have hit driver off the tee and rarely played conservative with the 3 wood due to distance drop. This club sure closes the distance gap between it and driver with improved accuracy. No too worried about fairway use, since I hit my 910 17 deg hybrid 220-240 yds. This is a definitely a great club to consider for low handicappers looking to play a strong 3 wood off the tee. If you really need to use 3 wood off the fairway then it is probably not to best club for that and would recommend something else. Like most long hitting low handicappers, I would expect to hit this new 3 wood 3-5 times per round off the tee and maybe 0-1 time per round tops on the fairway.
  2. Every facet of the game is important to work on which others have already commented on. However, one consistent thing that I've noticed is that every low handicap player knows how to work the ball with both a fade and a draw. If you are unable to work the ball it is hard to play smart golf and play either conservative or aggressive shots. You need to be able to hit every club in the bag to play in the 70s from the tips on a challenging course. Scatch golfers are almost always great putters.
  3. I've played FLI HI 2 and 3 irons which I liked to go along with my Mizuno MP 68 5-PW set. Enjoyed previous set of MP 37s, but the 3 iron was impossible to hit and I read many other posters who played the 37s say the same thing. Love playing blades and I'm pretty good with around a 4 handicap with my 68s. In this day age there is much better equipment options than playing a true blade 2 iron though IMHO. Its a toss up between which club I prefer between my FLI HI 2 iron vs new Mizuno MP 20 deg hybrid or MX 700 17 deg hybrid. FLI HI 3 iron has large cavity back and is giant compared to the size of the 37 3 iron. Living in Colorado though I know I'll prefer the hybrids on cold weather days. From 225 yds out the 20 deg hybrid is more consistent than the FLI HI, but it is not as easy to stop on a green. If you play fast greens you'll stop the 2 iron better than the hybrid. Miss hits more common with the 2 iron, but don't get the occasional snap hooks OB like still possible with a hybrid.
  4. Love my Mizuno MP T 10 52, 56, 60 wedges. Enjoyed previous Mizuno black ox and previous MP T series wedges as well, but the MP T10 are definitely better and provide more spin. Tried going with a 58 instead of 56/60 combo earlier this year then switced back due to the 60 performing better in short game. Can also play the 60 out of sand better than previous mizuno wedges. Vokeys are nice as well. If you already play mizuno irons you won't regret adding their wedges. The grooves like a previous poster mentioned are huge. I swear after one practice swing lots of grass is sticking to them and in the grooves which needs to be removed, didn't have that much of a problem on previous mizuno wedges. You'll definitely need a brush or wet towel when your playing with these wedges to keep them clean.
  5. I have played the MP Fli Hi 2 and 3 irons for the past 2-3 years and love them. I loved my MP 37 irons, but the 3 iron was impossible to hit and the 4 iron was inconsistent at best. I'm a 5 handicap and am now hitting MP 68 blades which I love, but I only got the 5-PW so I could keep hitting the Fli Hi 2 and 3 irons. Also got a MX 700 hybrid 17 deg which I love. If your playing game improvement irons you can use their 3-4 irons, but if your playing a blade the Fli His are much more forgiving in my opinion.
