  2. Still Loving the Callaways and not regretting selling the G10s one iota!
  3. Once I got to Cbus, the drinking and BBQ started... Long stor short, a sickening feeling kept me off the course that weekend, but I'll be heading back soon. GO BG!!
  4. Yea, Me to! Glad to see you are right up the road. We'll can definately hit the links sometime.
  5. I'm likely going to be spending a long weekend in Cbus this weekend and I do not know anyone there that plays. So, I'm reaching out to my fellow Sand Trappers to show me the ropes. If anyone in Cbus has plans on playing this weekend and wouldn't mind an extra, shoot me a PM and I'll send you my #. Thanks in advance!
  6. Ive had the Razr X Forged for about a week now. Before I ordered them, I wasn't competely sure if I would have success playing them, but I can tell you, after I demoed them, I loved them! I can honestly say I'm hitting these much more consistently than my G10s, likely because I had to fight the urge to sweep the ball with the Gs. The Razrs are a great set though.
  7. So, I began this season with the idea i was going to work with the equipment I had and not purchase anything this year. I walked into my local pro shop and saw a G15 3w for $160 and thought "Right now my set goes from driver to 3h, I need to fill that gap", spoke with the pro and he gave me the 3w for $100. Shortly after that I began to look for new irons as I knew my swing was getting better and I grew tired of the G10s, so I began my search and bounced around from one set to the next, just trying a few out. I eventually stumbled upon the Callaway Razr X Forged, and they now rest in my bag. Now, who am I to have the gual to place brand new irons in a 15 yr old bag? Well, my Ogio Vapor stand bag is on the way, lol. Now, why stop now? I'm looking for a heavier shaft to put in my G10 3w and G10 Driver, this is the reason for the thread. As of now, its the stock stiff that comes with it and frankly it feels way too whippy. I love my ust proforce v2 76g thats in my 905r driver and I'm thinking about putting that in my G10 Driver. Anybody have experience with this set up? Regarding the 3w, I have no idea what to put in it. I know I want at least 76g, stiff, that has a low kick point so the ball gets up and lands soft. Do you folks have any recommendations for good shafts in the 3w? On a side note, how much would you take if you where selling your G10 5-PW? I have been searching ebay to see the market prices, but I really dont see much movement in these clubs nowadays.
  8. Took my new clubs out for a spin for the first time yesterday on a pretty tough course and came within a few strokes of my PR. Shot an 86, but still had a "snowman" on the card!! These things feel awesome though and I'm extremely happy with the upgrade!
  9. My clubs came today!!! I went and played a par 3 course and I was actually spinning the ball back!! I didnt know I could do that, tackling a new "real" course in the a.m.
  10. Wishing I would have paid the extra $25 for 2 day shipping
  11. I ended up going with a PX Flighted 5.5 hoping it would help launch my longer irons as advertised. We'll see.
  12. Just took the leap!!! The Razr X Forged is on the way!!!
  13. Holy Crap!!! Just came from a demo day where I got fitted for the Razr X Forged and actually hit it outside. I've never hit a 6i so far in my life. My swing speed was 85mph and best carry was 183 yds. Turns out that my length was standard as well as my lie. I had the chance to hit a few different shafts and I hit the KBS stiff the best. I generally struck the center of the club face, my mishits were few and were thin when I did, which is typical for me because I sometimes lift out of the shot (mental issue). I'm thinking I'm going to look on line and see if I can find a used set for a good price that fits my specs and try them out for a while.
  14. This just a smooth, relaxed swing tempo for me..... I don't feel like its necessarily that slow... man, i feel like a lady man now :(
  15. Yes, it was a PX 6.0. I just searched Callaway demo days and it looks like they are having one right around the corner from my house tomorrow!! Rest assured, I will be there to hit those clubs tomorrow!
  16. So I went and hit several clubs at GG. I absolutely love the Callway Razr X Forged, but the guy at GG thinks they are too much club and the stiffness is too much at 6.0 for my swing speed. My swing speed was 78 mph with a 6i, however, I have to keep in mind I was completely cold so it has to increase a bit as I get warmed up. I hit several irons including: Ping Answer, Ping S56, Mizuno JP 800 Pro, AP2, and a muscle back from Mizuno that I cant remember, all of which were 6i. My dispertion, according to the monitor was 15-20 yds right of the target line and an average carry of 173 yds. Keep in mind that the clubs would need to be bent upright, as they were standard so my shots are definately going to be right of my target. I mishit one ball out of about 40 and my grouping was all within 5-8 yards of one another, no matter what club I hit. I don't know if I should listen to the guy and not get the Razr or go with it because I like it, even though I realize it's too stiff. I figure as my swing gets better, speed will increase or maybe that's just me trying to justify it. From a financial standpoint, I can get the entire set, 3-AW for $450, which means if it turns out I cant hit them consistently, I can sell them and should very well be able to recoup my loss. The JP 800 Pro was nice, but didnt like the look at address, it still feels like a SGI to me for some reason, even though I guess it technically isn't. Please offer up opinions as I really want to make a purchase as early as tomorrow before someone over bids on the Razr X Forged before I can get them at the $450 price. Thanks Folks. BTW, after hitting those shots I went to the range and hit my G10s like absolute sh!t, wasn't getting the distance I normally get, but that could have been because the flags were farther than I thought due to the practice zone being moved back and a slightly windy day, BUT STILL, I look down at my clubs pre-swing and hated them!
  17. I'll check them out... heading to GG now.
  18. You are right, I10s aren't forged, its just one of the clubs I'm considering. Which Mizuno's would you suggest trying? I understand that with a players iron I'm going to have to work on my swing routinely to stay consistent, however, I have no problem with that as I already spend 1-2 hrs 5 days a week just on the range. Now, if I can just get that practice time to carry over to the course, lol.
  19. Thanks for the replies. As far as keeping the ball low, I do not think it's so much my swing as it is the clubs doing what they are designed to do. Yesterday I played a round with my golf instructor and he agreed that it was more so the club. Also, played with AP2 for my second round yesterday ;) and when comparing ball flight, the AP2 has a much more penetrating flight. However, I'm sure there are some things I can do with my swing to bring the flight down as I'm no where near tour status obviously. I actually had a chance about a month ago to buy my instructors AP2 710s for a steal of a price, but convinced myself I was gonna stick with the G10s for one more season (FAIL). As far as sheer looks of the club at address, I really like the way the Razr X Forged looks, but it just doesn't seem to be anyone's club of choice and there has to be a reason behind that. I'm getting off work today and heading straight to Golf Galaxy to swing a few clubs and hopefully narrow down or broaden my club selection.
  20. Another advise/opinion thread..... Currently I'm playing with a set of G10s and growing increasingly frustrated with them. I have worked on my game a ton over the last two years and it's resulted in a dramatically better swing. I'm finding myself ballooning my current clubs and my misses are starting to become hooks, which I believe are exagerated due to the large offset. Also, I know this is more of a mental issue, but I'm finding myself wanting to scoop the ball when using these just because they look like they are meant to slide under the ball. However, most importantly, I'm just tried of looking at these clubs at address. Ok, my rant is over... I have played a few rounds with AP2 and absolutely love them. I haven't had any trouble hitting them, still I think $1200 is a bit much to pay for clubs at this stage in my game. I have my eyes on a few others and I'm wondering what you good people think. Ping I20 Callaway Razr X Forged AP2 Adams CB3 The Razr X Forged really caught my eye, but I've never hit them. Are they any more difficult to hit than the AP2s? I found a used set 3-GW for $450. I hit the CB3 yesterday and thought they were pretty good. The I20s are also a great club, but I think I want to try something other than ping for now. Any opinions on forgiveness/feel/ anything else will be great. Thanks.
  21. I have some Ping G10s I bought last year and I'm wanting new clubs now... If ur interested let me know and we can work something out.
  22. Wow, its been almost a year since I've updated this video thread. I've been putting a lot of work in and hopefully the results will show this season. I'm gonna post up another video in the near future and hopefully get some feedback from you all. Thanks.
  23. Went to a Ping demo day yesterday and hit the i and s series irons. Love them both and hit them both well. I gained much more distance over my current G10s, mainly due to lower ball flight. My G10s tend to balloon. I want to learn to work the ball at will and I believe I'm ready for something closer to a player's iron. I think I may start my search for new irons very soon. Oh, just purchased a CG14 SW yesterday!!
  24. Originally, I planned to drive or ride with my friend, but he has a softball tourney in another part of TN on Saturday so he is leaving sooner than I'd like. I also found a plane ticket that would be even with/cheaper than driving for me.... Dodge Ram. And I don't know if I will have enough left in the tank to drive back after I'm done with Nashville!!! lol
  25. I have no idea where we are going to play.
