  1. Others more knowledgeable than me may say something differently, but if you are looking for more distance you may want LESS stiff, or with a different kick-point, than what you are playing. As a general rule, I equate stiffness with increased control, not distance. I just got fit for a new D2 and was put in a Proforce V2 75 with a swing speed of 109. If you're swing speed is in the 90's. you should at least hit something less stiff to see how it goes. There really is no substitute for going somewhere outside that can put you on a bunch of different shafts to see how each works for you.
  2. I guess what is good about this site is the perspective of people with different experiences. I have not had the same success as Erik has with "working perfect every time". It is easier to aim at the flag, but that does not work if there is no wind or if the wind is at your back and the flag is blowing away from you. In those instances, if there are reflectors in the stick itself I have found them to be of much assistance. I agree with him, however, concerning lay-ups; they are GREAT for that.
  3. The Precision site recommends someone that hits a 6 iron 170 to use the 5.5. I hit my 6 iron 185 and have recently moved from X100's to 6.0 and it was just about right. Here is the link to the Precision site, the fitting chart as a suggested starting point is at the bottom of the page. http://www.royalprecision.com/precis..._projectx.html
  4. ClevelandGunmetal: Callaway is marketing the X-Tour PM as having a special grind with a full 11 deg. of bounce in the lob wedge, with a narrower leading edge that is supposed to allow you to chip around the green, but also have enough bounce to get you out of the sand. The "PM" is for Phil Mickelson and is purportedly his grind. Not all of the X-Tour wedges are the PM grind so be careful what you buy. This may be the compromise you are looking for. Good review of the club on this site: http://thesandtrap.com/equipment/clu...d_wedge_review
  5. I rarely use mine to get a distance to a flag; trsuting the sprinkler heads more. Things such as elevation change/precip DO affect accuracy and sometimes it will pick out an object (like a tree) behind a pin unless the course has reflectors in the stick. However, the things are great off the tee (and for layups) to get distances to objects such as bunkers or to the end of the fairway and I love having mine for that use; especially at a new course. No need to buy anything fancy; you can get a perfectly good one for $150. If you want to bargain shop, look in hunting sites as the rangefinders for hunters are the same; just in camo.
  6. MacTec NVG2 Tour. Tried all the major brands at a club fitting session and this one worked the best for me. Not very pretty, but ball flight is great and it goes forever.
