2. i am glad i found this thread. I been practicing / playing 5 - 6 days a week plus I work 8 - 5 monday thru friday. Since mid May I been getting to the course around 5:30 every night and staying till dark; it's the best time to use the practice range and get 9 holes in. Now I feel completley burned out and my game is suffering. I'm at a point where i can't grind anymore. The season is winding down anyways. Less daylight to work with after I get out of work and soon I will be limited to playing on just the weekend. And then it will be stuck inside until April. I've experienced burnout by end of August the last two seasons. I think next year I will have breaks during the season.
3. Outside of an instructor, i think the best training aid is alignment rods / sticks. Multiple drills can be performed and they are cheap.
4. You know how Nicklaus always moved his head a little bit to the right as he was starting his backswing; were his eyes always focused on the ball while he did that or was he watching his club head to ensure his path was going the correct way?
5. Oh crap, I think the wrong video is coming up!
6. I've been Playing Golf for: 4 years My current handicap index or average score is: 13 My typical ball flight is: right to left The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: fat, thin an top shots [rule] Videos: Do I have a reverse pivot?
7. Yep, i been struggling with an over the top path of late but last night my partner commented that my forearms were bulging at address and told me to waggle and loosen up before my swing. Once I did that I was seeing more consistent golf shots, even got the fade going again.
8. Can too much tension in forearms cause a steep downswing leading to thin, fat, topping and pull hooks?
9. It's possible that even though I am set up to swing out to in I could be swinging more right than left? I wish I had a video to post but thank you for your feedback. John
10. Does anyone have an idea why my fades have turned into pull hooks? I have been more conscious of my grip and not drastically setting up left but the ball still seems to star left and curve even more left. The shots also tend to come off low to medium launch angle. Before my intended shots would start left of target and spin back to the left side or middle of fairway leaving me with clear shots to the green.
11. I get really suspicious of those guys that say "I'd be a scratch golfer if I played more" and then they love to tell you how to swing the club. That same guy usually shoots a 120 for 18 holes
12. I've seen that and was always curious about it. May need to try it out. Thanks!
13. I still gotta get a new video posted in My Swings. I understand that too much forearm rotation can lead to taking the club inside on the takeaway so I will be very conscious of that. Thank you for your feedback!
14. I am an intermediate golfer and I hate when other high handicappers want to dish out advice if i am not asking for it.
15. Hey guys, i really been struggling with a proper takeaway. I understand how to start it but i always get lost on how to get the club parrell to my target line at the end of the takeaway. I had been hingining my wrists sooner to get the club on plane but been noticing a lack of distance and accuracy. Losing a lot of my shots to the right, even with a stronger grip. I recently stumbled accross this web page that breaks down Adam Scott's swing: http://www.free-golf-lessons.com/scott.html The author talks about how Scott slightly rotates his forearms so the club is in the correct position for him to finish the backswing: "Scott does a great job on the takeaway. I want you to focus in on his golf glove. Watch how, when his club is parallel to the ground, the logo on his glove is facing the camera. In fact you can see the logo by the time his hands are passing his back leg. This means that he allowed his forearms to rotate during the first step of the backswing." I started practicing this last night at home and it seems to be an easier concept to grasp as opposed to hinging the wrist earlier. I felt like I was in a more solid position at the top of my backswing and the motion / tempo felt more "fluid". I also felt I was able to get a wider arc going back and have a flatter swing with better weight shift on the way down. I don't know if there is a right or wrong way but does anyone here slightly rotate their forearms on the takeaway? I still need to test this out on the range; hopefully tonight. Thanks!
