  1. Re: Shooting ones age… I agree with USGA approved 18 holes course criteria… and I think your suggestion of at least 5000 yards is good… but I also think your suggestion regarding course rating of at least 65 makes sense because some courses although short are rather tight with lots of water and very long ( un hittable/ unfindable rough)….where as a longer course may allow you to spray the ball left and right without much penalty…. i shot 70 ( par) on a 5300 yard course that is just so…. Lots of water to collect errant tee shots and lots of mature trees and exceptionally long ( two foot) high grass. At 71 years I was thrilled with my score ( haven’t shot par in 15 years) but my son has me playing WAY more golf these last two years and my game has improved greatly… but I have yet to brag…. ( as much as I would like to…) I am officially waiting until I do it on a 6000+ yard course….despite the fact the that course may be easier and more forgiving that my regular 5300 yarder…. Which I live to play….not because it is short, but because it has “ character “…. Cheers to all…/r keep swingin’
  2. This summer I shot par (70) on the course I regularly play. At my age I play the white tees, the most forward for men. My son (24) plays the blacks (farthest). We play even… no strokes Whites are 5300… blacks are 6300 I am 71 and shot par 70 …..but I don’t brag cause the course isn’t > 6000 yards…. But by some standards I’ve read here I can claim the accomplishment. My son and playing partner chide me for not engaging in the brag…. what say ya’ll…? Regardless… it was an exilerating round.
