  1. I used a metronome to determine my ideal putting tempo. I’ve read most people fall between 66 and 80 bpm. That range felt extremely slow to me. The bpm that felt most natural was 100. Is that too fast? I definitely side more on a shorter, quicker stroke but being that far outside the average feels a little concerning.
  2. Day 2 : Used a metronome to determine ideal putting tempo. Worked on repeating the tempo for putts at various distances.
  3. Day 1: Speed training Right handed only putts working on “loading” the putter
  4. Well they finally came out and it looks like their grind options are following the pack. Interested to hear people’s thoughts. SMS Pro Wedge The Edel Golf Swing Match System Wedge offers golf club adjustability in a wedge fitting for the first time...
  5. I agree with this 100%. I forget what tour player said it but they mentioned how in pro ams they hear amateurs say how they always make a majority of their mid range putts. His reply was no they don’t because if you did you’d be better than everyone on tour. Even pros think they’re better than they are. Back when stats weren’t as well known as today they asked a bunch of pros what the make percentage was on tour for 6 footers. The consensus was around 70%. Crenshaw was the closest with a guess of 50%. Actual percentage was 54%. I always thought it was interesting that one of the best putters was the closest.
  6. This is a good point and I’m going to go down this road. I’ll get some data on both techniques, compare the two, and then make a more informed decision. I’m bad about going off of what I “feel” is the best but should definitely approach it with more hard data. All that being said, this made me laugh and is likely the cause of me wondering if the broomstick would be a better technique. I mean, who doesn’t want to get a new putter?
  7. Does anyone have any additional information on the new Edel wedges? Based on Golf Digests review, they’re going towards what most people would consider traditional and offering low, standard and high bounce options. Reading reviews on here about their previous offerings, I was sold on the higher bounce they used in their wedges. I’m curious with their new options if they’re just going to be like all the other companies now. I guess time will tell. If I’m wrong and they’re still as good as the previous versions, I’ll definitely be making a trip to see @iacas for a fitting.
  8. I have a ridge but my favorite option is to just use a binder clip. Wrap your cash around your cards to make a little sleeve and you’re good to go. My family apparently thought I was just poor and got me a ridge as a Christmas gift so I’ll use it until it wears out.
  9. Last year I tried a broomstick putter for a few months. Lag putting felt incredibly easy and natural. Just like rolling the ball to the hole with my bottom hand. The technique also put a great end over end roll of the ball. The problem was 10 feet and in. On these shorter ones, I never felt like I was hitting the ball solidly and this caused my speed control to falter. I was leaving everything short. I wrote it off to another failed experiment and went back to my previous putter. Has anyone had a similar experience with this style? Did I give up too early? I just think back to how easy lag putting was and that’s always been something I struggled with.
  10. Since there’s still snow on the ground, I’ve been mindlessly scrolling and came across Bryson talking about his Jumbomax grips. Going down yet another equipment rabbit hole, I watched a video of him talking about how it helps him stay tight in the fingers and hands but supple in the wrists. 3.2K views · 23 reactions | Bryson Explains Why He Plays JumboMax... Bryson DeChambeau explains why he plays #jumboMaxgrips. This made me think of this thread on grip pressure. Another part I found interesting is them talking about the benefit of being able to have the club in the fingers and in the palms, agin the purpose being to remove tension in the wrists and forearms. Here’s a video of Iacas explaining the importance of having the grip in fingers and when you have the grip in the palm it severely decreases your range of motion. In theory, it seems like it would provide the ability to keep a firm grip in the fingers while decreasing tension in the unwanted areas. But, is that benefit outweighed with a decrease in your range of motion? Interested to see if anyone has tried these and what their results were.
  11. I thought this was an interesting discussion about someone asking about how lines impact aiming and LAB creator’s response. They were specifically asking about an Edel fitting. I don’t know what he was expecting posting this in a LAB forum. Why would you want to have to “work” on your aiming or overcome an aiming issue? I go to the eye doctor every year and they’ve said for the past 10 years your eyesight hasn’t changed. Am I missing something when he says it “changes all the time”? I did an Edel fitting and went from aiming a foot right to spot on. I don’t use a line on the ball any longer and can just step up and putt knowing where I’m looking and where I’m aiming match. It changed my whole perspective on putters. I’d be fearful now of buying a putter just based off what I think looks good because I’d always be worried if I’m aiming where I’m looking.
  12. Thoughts on this acquisition? 5.9K views · 55 reactions | 🚨MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT🚨 We are proud to... 🚨MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT🚨 We are proud to announce the acquisition of Edel Golf, a renowned company... I’ve always been a big fan of Edel and never really liked Pins and Aces. It seems like a brand created by frat bros from what I’ve seen. I reached out to them last week asking if they’d were going to be coming out with new wedges soon since I’m in the market and they responded that they’ll be coming out in February. I wonder how this will impact Edel in the long run.
  13. It seems like a TON of people are jumping on the LAB putter bandwagon (pros included). Can someone explain in layman’s term the difference between their lie angle balanced tech vs Edel’s torque balanced tech? From the people I’ve talked to that have tried LAB, they either love them or hate them. I’ll be sticking with my counter balanced Edel because I can’t aim anything else anywhere close to square but am just curious.
  14. What apps does everyone use with their Apple Watch? I’m mainly looking just for distance to the front, middle and back and greens. I also wouldn’t mind having a hole layout function but that’s not a necessity. I’d preferably like to find a free option since all I’m looking for is the simple distances but would be willing to pay a subscription if I find the right one.
  15. But if you had to pick just one you’d go with the originals?
  16. What is the benefit of the zero drop shoes?
  17. The only features I really look for in a golf shoe is that they’re extremely comfortable and they have to be waterproof. I’ve been looking at the ASICS Kayano Ace since that’s the running shoe I wear and I absolutely love them but I’m also intrigued with True Linkswear. Their website lists the following models as waterproof: Lux Hybrid Original 1.2 FS-Tour Lux G Lux Tour OG Tour I like the look of the Lux Hybrid and Originals the best but would be interested in everyone’s input and recommendations.
  18. I’m guessing it is caused primarily by a poor pivot as I’ve had that issue in the past. Any drills or feels to help with this? I was thinking about trying the towel drill under both arms.
  19. I worked on the drills for the three putting days. After using the metronome to groove my ideal timing and teaming that with the drill of having a backswing equal to my follow through, my strike with the putter has really improved. I also worked on the drills for pitching by spending significant time letting the club drop and rotating through. While my strikes did improve, I still bladed a decent number of shots. Any other drill recommendations to work on? I have a history of letting my head fall back on these shots and I'm thinking this may be creeping its way back into my game.
  20. Yes I’m still gaming the Edel. I’ll have to see where I’m striking it on the face. I’m assuming if it’s low on the face my ball position is creeping too far forward?
  21. Haha. I’ve made the drive before. I’ll probably be up next spring to see you again.
  22. The putts are ending up right by the hole. Definitely not enough energy to get 10 - 15 inches past the hole. It’s almost like I’m hitting a long lag putt and trying to die it by the hole. One of the biggest things I’ve noticed is that when I hit these putts they rarely feel solid and come off dead. I’ve done the putter gate drill so I feel confident that I’m hitting it near the middle.
  23. Wanted to get some thoughts on struggles I've been having with my game. 1. Short putts - I'm a pretty good lag putter but when I get closer (10 feet and in) the ball just seems to come off dead, quickly trail off and miss on the low side. I feel like it's just a lack of acceleration causing the miss but wanted to see if it could possibly be something else. If it is an acceleration issue, any drills to help with this? 2. Partial Wedges (50 - 85 yards) - Any time I don't have a full wedge shot I struggle to make solid contact. 85% of my misses is the dreaded skull that barely gets a foot off the ground. The other 15% of my misses I'm laying the sod over the ball and it goes no where. Even when I practice these shots on the range, I'll hit some decent then the thin shot seems to come out of nowhere. Then I focus on staying down through the ball and hit one heavy. I do go through times where I hit these shots decent but I never have been able to get rid of these misses. I'm at a point of analysis paralysis and just need some thoughts on what to do to get these shots back on track.
  24. My short game is definitely the strength of my game. Luckily I work from home so to your point I’m going to allocate some time every day just to swing feels during my down time.
  25. 1. My handicap is a 6. 2. Regarding my goals, I’m just looking to get more consistent overall. Due to my swing relying so heavily on perfect timing, I’ll play great one day then follow that up with a round that looks like I’ve never picked up a club before. I’ve never really cared much about how my swing looks and I don’t have anything on the schedule I’m trying to peak for. 3. My strength is definitely my short game. I can typically strike the ball pretty clean but because I get so steep and over the top, my miss with everything from my driver to wedges is a straight pull. Clean contact just starts left of my target. In the Lowest Score Wins, they talk about Dave having a swing fault that was causing issues in his play and his ability to get comfortable on the golf course. He hit lots of balls thinking of nothing else than what he was trying to work on. Regardless of his attempts, when he went to his instructor, he kept getting the same lesson over and over again. The solution was having him do a drill and only hitting shots no further than 50 yards. I can certainly relate because the last two lessons I’ve had we worked on the same exact things even though I’d been practicing with a focus on correcting my faults. If I implement taking 65% of my time working on my full swing, should I take a page out of Dave’s book (no pun intended) and just work on drills to try to better ingrain the feeling? I’ve implemented certain aspects of the drills into my pre shot routine to ingrain the intended feeling. I’m still just really struggling to take my swing feels to the course. I’ve always been a firm believer in playing golf when you’re on the course and not getting caught up in a bunch of swing thoughts. With this being such a big change, I have a bad habit of going right back to my old ways when I only envision my intended shot shape and focus on the target.
