Companies you'll never buy clubs from
BigHitta replied to FlopShotArtist's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I think the only club company I really don't like is Callaway.....I'm kind of a traditionalist and Callaway goes against just about everything I like. Plus Callaway has there name in every type of product, watches, rangefinders, etc. & for some reason that doesn't sit well with me. -
Right now I am using an old Ping anser 2 and absolutely hate it . I know I need to switch putters. The full shaft offset of that putter is just too hard to get used to. Its just a matter of which one to choose. I am looking into a scotty cameron because I have always had good luck with them in the past. I have used a studio style 1.5, a circa 62 #2 and loved them both, plus I like the nice little shaft bend in them both. Question is, should I buy scotty's new studio select 1.5, or stick to either the studio style 1.5/circa 62 #2 which I know I like. BTW, the studio selects red circles are so dumb looking.

I am looking to switch irons even though I just bought some Mizuno mp-32's. I really like the idea of ping s58 irons because ping makes a great product and they have an amazing resale value. I have tried them out a few times and liked them and I love the look of blades. The only negative I can think of is that cast doesn't feel as good as forged. If anyone has demoed or currently owns these irons please tell me your opinions.

As for brandon's comment, I assure you a set of carbon steel irons ( the MP-32's I have now) are not going to last. I had a set of TP Taylormade Combo irons I bought in 2004 and they lasted 3 years, and that was pushing it a little (when the grooves get worn to the point of affecting my greenside performance, its time to switch). As a matter of fact, I sold my buddy a set of Ben Hogan Apex Plus iron's and he has played them for approx. 3.5 years and all of the faces are golden. Anyways, I know a player on the Florida University golf team and he plays the S58 irons and likes them alot. He said that switching to carbon steel irons to PING irons sucked though. He said that the PING's don't have nearly as much feel and just don't feel as solid. But i'll tell you what, if I can get away with keeping them until I get out of college I'll be a happy camper.

I recently got a job at a golf shop and I am getting a good discount on golf clubs. I want to purchase a set of irons that will last me for years to come, aprox. 5-7 years. While I was getting my old irons fitted at a golf course, my fitter said all he plays is PING because they last so long. During the fitting he bent the lie angle of my irons to me and while he was doing it he once again remarked, " With these irons you will want to check the lie every 6 months, with PING irons you could hit them one million times and they would stay the same." Basically he was recomending PING irons, kind of a bad time to do it! Anyways, I was wondering if this guy is right, do PING irons last longer? If so, you can bet I will go out and buy a set! For all of you who have PING iron sets, please post how long you've had them and how they're holding up (I know a lot of people still play the PING Eye 2's). Thanks

Currently in my bag (as you can see from my signature) a carry a driver, 3 wood, 19* hybrid(2 iron), 3-PW irons, and 52* wedge 58* wedge and my putter. The switch I am considering is taking my 3 iron out and changing my wedge set up to a 52*, 56* and a 60*. Note: I would consider my wedge play one of the best aspects of my game, so would it help me that much? The reason why I am considering this change is because I struggle with bunker shots with my 58* wedge and think a 56* would help alot. Please post your opinion.

I love Guitar Hero, it is such a refreshing game in an industry filled with copycats and lackluster new ideas. Don't get me wrong, I love my FPS's but guitar hero is the greatest game ever. Period. On a side note, how many Xbox 360 owners are pissed off that Rocking the 80's is only available for ps2. I am an 80's addict, so when I see I Ran by A Flock of Seagulls, I Wanna Rock by Twisted Sister, Play With Me by Extreme and Holy Diver by Dio and I can't play them I get very upset. It's like an itch I can't scratch because I gave my ps2 to my nephew. For those who know play Guitar Hero, leave a comment about anything, what difficulty your playing, what song you passed, (how hard it is switching from medium to hard and getting used to the orange.........we've all been there .) The other day I beat Sweet Child O' Mine on Expert , beat that!

I highly suggest anyone to pick up MCR's Cd THE BLACK PARADE. Every song on this cd is great..........................seriously. Anyways, I think this cd is up there with Metallica: Black Album, Michael Jackson: Thriller, David Bowie: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from mars, Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here and a few other albums that I would consider the best of all time. If you are wondering, I honestly like all music genres so I would say anyone would like this album. Don't sterotype MCR as a just another punk band beacause trust me, they have there act together and a good people in real life. So if you need your music fix in this world filled with awful rap songs that get played to death, pick up My Chemical Romance: The Black Parade for about $14.

Shot a 71 at a new course in the area, "The Mines." Anyways, I was in a junior tournament and I was leading after the 1st day. During the round I had 6 birdies and 7 bogeys (par 70). Best all year! Now here's the bad news. . Coming into the second day of the tournament I started my round birdie, birdie, missed a 3 footer for birdie, and on the 4th hole drove the par 4 green in one. Went on to shoot 80. Golf is a funny game isn't it. To top it all off, I thought I might get runner up with 71 + 80. Nope, some kid went 76 + 66 for 1st and 2nd place went 73 + 73. Maybe next time?

I inherited a 2005 Chrysler 300, when I got it it had under 5,000 miles on it. To top it off, I'm still in high school so I park next to a bunch of beater cars. My first day driving my car to school I definatley got some looks of astonishment and alot of comments.

I just switched to the Scotty Cameron Circa 62 a while ago and I love it. My old putter had bad glare and the charcoal finish is relly nice on the 62. Another great aspect is that the putter gives you feedback, (as stupid as it sounds), if you don't make a good stroke you will know it and overtime it has helped my groove my stroke.

I'm sure this topic has been tossed around alot but I had to do it. What spins more, Titleist Spin milled wedges or Cleveland CG 12's? I just got a job at a golf store and I can finally afford new wedges when my old grooves wear out. Also, on a unrelated note, I am thinking about changing my wedge set up. Right now I have a 52* wedge and a 58* wedge. I have been toying with the idea of taking my 2 iron out and putting a 52*, 56* & a 60* in my bag. The reason why I want to change is because I strugle with my 58* out of the sand and thought a 56* would make a difference.

I know you've probably heard this scenerio a billion times but you will have to hear it once more. I am a 7 handicap who is currently playing a set of Taylormade blades, feel great but I think I need to move to a more forgiving set. Note: I am 17 years old and very strong, most of the time people switching to easier irons are good golfers getting older. I was going to wait until next year to switch my irons, but Michigan's high school golf schedule changed to the spring.....BULL S**T . I was expecting to get my new irons next spring and have all summer to play with them before the season in the fall. Now I am getting my irons in the summer so I have at least the summer and part of fall before I put them into play in the spring. Anyways, here is a list of irons I am going to demo: 1. Titleist 755 2. Titleist 695 cb 3. Taylormade r7 TP 4. Mizuno MP 60 5. Callaway Forged 6. Ping S58 Please add any that you think I'm missing or add coments if you've had experience with these clubs/ were in my position at one time.

I have a Sasquatch 15* 3 wood which I love. As of now I have a steel shaft in it and I think I want the club's swingweight to go down a tad. I think my best option would be to replace it with a graphite shaft, does anyone have a fairway wood shaft they just love?

I just bought the Cobra Pro Speed D. I love it and it sets up perfect for me. Very easy to shape shots and it launches the ball nice and high. I would recommend the Pro Speed D over the Pro Speed S, the D comes with an Aldila VS Proto shaft in an exclusive golf color, while the S comes with a Speeder shaft also in an exclusive gold shaft. I would really recommend these to anyone, actually these are the first Cobra drivers I've ever tried. I usually go with Titleist, Nike, or Taylormade, so it should be a shocker to know that I switched to a Cobra so quickly, it's that good.
