there really aren't any brands that i prefer over others. i've been using the same Titleist DCIs for about 14 years now and just need an upgrade. I'm not too picky about the top line or anything like that. If it works i don't care what it looks like.

Hey all, I'm looking for a little help on irons. I think i fall somewhere in between game improvement irons and players irons. i would lean towards players irons (game improvement irons launch a little too high for me) but would still like to have a good bit of forgiveness since i certainly don't always hit the center of the clubface. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I mostly agree with the comments above. I think that performance should count at least double if not more. i could care less about buzz. and i can figure out value by looking at the price. However, i do like how they break everything down (like the irons into different categories) - i'm in the market for new irons (first time in about 14 years) and the Hot List has been very helpful. I basically just took the game improvement section and tried every set out (along with a few from the Players section.) Right now i'm leaning towards the Taylor Made R7s anyone have any thoughts on those?

Goals for 2007 1) Win the Acme Honda Invitational (a tournament with my buddies --going onto year 18 now) 2) I'm getting new irons this year (first time since the first Bush administration) - so I'm hoping to hit more greens and have better birdie chances. I'd much rather 10-foot birdie putts than 10-foot par putts. Those take a lot out of you 3) My score is usually in the upper 70s/low 80s - my hope is to have more in the 70s than the 80s. i don't think i've ever done that. 4) Play more! I got married last year and just didn't have much time to play with all of the prep we had for it.

My two cents -- Woods -- Taylor Made i think consistently makes the best woods Irons -- i like the Titleist and Mizuno. Calaway has gotten better, so has Taylor. Wedges -- I've always been a fan of Cleveland wedges. Titleist are good too. Putters -- I like the Ping Craz-E and the Odyssey I'm in the market for new irons though so that might change. right now i'm liking the Taylor Made R7 -- anyone have and other ones i should try?
