Hello there, kind of new to golf here (6 months) and am starting to be able to play a competent game. I've definitly got some holes, wondering if anyone has some input on which parts are more important than others.
Some of the things I do well:
I've got a 3 and 4 hybrid pair, they seem to work very well for the most part. Could be a little straighter, but the distance is perfect.
5-9 irons seem to work fairly well, I can definitely hit them better from the tee box than from the fairway but even from the fairway they are reasonable.
Some serious holes:
My driver, I don't even use it. It's a complete and utter disaster.
Fairway woods, same as the driver. Don't even carry them any more, replaced by hybrids.
Chipping and pitching, I can nail a good chip occasionally but pitch shots seem to be very difficult for me. I blade shots constantly.
Putting, I was really bad until recently. I did some work with this and can usually 2 putt these days.
Off camber shots, no clue what I'm doing here and it usually shows.
Different terreins, I have a lot of difficulty when the ground is hard or the grass is too short.
So there it is, I do a couple of things alright and have a ton of stuff to work on! I usually shoot between 100-110 and can easily see places to shave off strokes. I'm thinking that I should just forget about my driver for the forseeable future and just start working on pitching and chipping. I work on those at the driving range (off the matt) but it doesn't seem to translate to the course.
What do you all think, am I thinking along the right course?
