  1. It's amazing what a little range time can do for your ball striking ability. I have been dealing with hitting my driver too high for quite a while. It was not a balloon, but started high and stayed high. I really couldn't fix it while on the course. I started going to the range more than before and hitting balls like i did when i was a kid, trying to get that feel back. I was hitting down the range from an older guy who had some skills and I told him my tale of woe. He was friendly a simply said "are you hitting up or down on the ball" I had to say up, I guess. It was that simple, in started trying to feel like i was hitting down on the ball and the results were positive. My ball flight was much more boring and way lower! i also made the adjustment of playing the ball a tad further back in my stance. I highly suggest working it out on the range!
  2. Fujikura Motore vs. Aldila NV Any thoughts on which one has a lower launch?
  3. I was lucky enough to start playing golf at around age 12 at a local public golf course. While there, i played mostly with elderly people. Many of these men and women would come to be known as the "greatest generation" as they served in the military during WWII or Korea. I learned about etiquette, rules and how to speak to people. I remember one time early in my career i was hesitant to use fairway woods because they were hard for me to hit. This elderly gent that i was playing with told me that if i didn't try I would never improve. After that i started using them and got the hang of it! Another time, I was doing something wrong with my swing and got some unsolicited advise from my playing partner. I said something smart back to him and he put me in my place as he should have. I learned about the old greats of the game as many of the people i played with had first hand knowledge of them. It was wonderful to grow up and come of age in such a safe environment. The golf course became my home away from home and in the summer, it was not unusual for me and my buddies to play 36 holes and walk them all! Many of the people I met there are now deceased but the memories i hold from this time are fantastic!
  4. My brother must have been drunk when he gave these to me! Be certain i will set him straight, here comes the family feud!!!
  5. club head speed= 98 mph ball speed======144mph launch angle====16 spin==========2800 ball carry======265 Wondering what the consensus is? Thanks, Shanky
  6. Thanks, there's a good chance i am playing the ball too far forward in my stance!
  7. I recently bought an R9 460 with a Fujikura Motore shaft. I thought the shaft would help me keep the ball lower off the tee. Unfortunately it hasn't and with my swing, i'm not sure it's possible! I tried the prolaunch red and that didn't help either! Does anyone have suggestion?
  8. I live in South Florida and have been to Ireland once! Ring of Kerry was spectacular! I played an englishman for a spot of tea and soundly whooped him at Kilearney. It was a blast and we had fun. I also got to play a local links course along the Atlantic, it was so pretty and different from anything I had ever played. Love your country and the hospitality was out of this world!
  9. I just picked up a slightly used 52* 8 really cheap on EBAY. I am wondering if anyone on "the trap" uses one and how they like it. I read Paddy uses it.
  10. I truly believe Tiger's problem is between his ears! His realization that he ruined his marriage and negatively effected so many people, including his own children, is a tough burden to bare. If his mind was free from these demons, it wouldn't matter if I were his swing coach. He would win. I feel that before all of his transgressions came to light, he was able to compartmentalize his life and rationalize/justify his excesses. Now that the "cat's out of the bag", his head is a swirling mess of guilt and remorse. I know for me that when i play a round of golf and my mind is right, i play a whole lot better than when i'm upset about something. I can't imagine how hard it must be to have to perform at his level under the mental turmoil with which he is experiencing! I hope he gets his MOJO back, on the course that is. Golf is not the same when he's not at the top of his game!

  12. Best shot of the week was last Saturday. I hit the pin with n 8 Iron (160 yds),. I usually draw the ball but this time I took the club back in a more upright manner, instead of the usual trap hook flat swing. This allowed the path of the club at impact to be more square to the target. The flight of the ball was a thing to behold very straight and trying to fade. It hit the stick and made a loud noise which cause the group in front of us, who were on the teebox to turn around and take notice! When i got up to the green there was a ball mark a foot or two from the hole. Too bad it didn't go in! That's all i got for bragging, I won't discuss how I got my tag name!!!
  13. It's nice to see another Wilson fan on the forum. I started playing wilson staff (1972) model clubs when i was around 13 years old. They were given to me by a guy that owned a rewashed golf ball shop in my town. I would go by the shop on my bike, help him sort golf balls and hang out. One day he saw my clubs and how crappy they were (Jack Nicklaus Macregor) from JC Penney's I think. He said you need to use these Wilsons and I did for over 15 years. Then my car was stolen with my clubs in the trunk and i was able to replace them with new Staffs FG 57s. I think that playing the Staff blades early in my career help me a great deal with honing my swing. I played those until a couple of years ago when I read some positive reviews for the Wilson PI5 irons. I decided that now that i was in my forties, that it was time to give myself a break and play a CLUB WITH MORE FOREGIVENESS. Since playing with the PI5's (only 2 years) i have had an eagle on a par 4 (with an 8 iron) a hole in one where i won a boat in a scramble tournament (8 IRON AGAIN) HIT THE PIN WITH AN 8 IRON LAST saturday, AND FINALLY hit the flag with a 5 iron sunday! Is this just a coincidence? I'll let you decide.
