1.
Gained 15 yards are you a 6.5 handicap? What were you playing before?
Im currently a 6.2 I was hitting the R7 425. My ball was very low with the R7 425, I went on a launch monitor and saw an improvement in carry and distance with the Nike DYMO. I hit all the new drivers out there, I just know I found a combo that works well for me.
2. I bought one. I also gained 15 yards with this driver. I'm not changing the configuration, I found a combonation that works. My carry has improved tremendously.
3. I have and Im really considering buying one. Great driver...
4. Sounds like you tried to take "cheap" way out...sorry. I've seen "new" to the game golfers who like to build or tinker build there own clubs, but never a low handicap. I believe that 90% of the time you get what you pay for in this world.
5. I hear what you're saying, but the launch monitor really showed that I was losing distance because of my low launch. I know there is trade off between distnace and accuracy. Im just on the fence wheter I should go for more distance with the regular shaft in the D2 as opposed to the stiff...
6. I go through this every couple years...I hate driver shopping because Im so anal and tend to over analyze things when it comes to getting a driver. I'm usually one of the guys you see selling a driver on EBAY saying, " Only used for three rounds, my loss is your gain.." I've been playing the R7 425 with a STIFF shaft since it came out and it is the BEST driver I've ever owned. That said, I know it's about 4 years old and I'm looking for something NEW. So far of all the drivers I hit, the Titleist D2 10.5 has stood out as the best one for me. I have a very smooth tempo and SS in the mid to upper 90's. A slight pause at the top before my transition.. My best drives are in the 230-240 yds range, but I'm a very straight hitter. Here's my dilema: I went and got on a launch monitor today (I forget the model, but it even had doppler radar) it was not your average launch monitor; it was really impressive. Everything pointed to the Titleist Diamana Blue 65 regular shaft and not the stiff shaft, but Im still having a hard time going back to playing a regular shaft, but I ordered the regular shaft based on the numbers and it also felt really good when I hit it outside, but I seemed to fade it a little bit more than I usually do... I mean my launch angle was below 10 with every single drive when I used my TM R7 425 and improved to 12-14 with the Titleist D2 and regular shaft and increased my carry and total distance. I also improved my smash factor to 1.46, but I forget the spin and other numbers. Anyway, I'm hoping Im making the correct decision with my shaft flex choice. Has anyone else ever gone back to a regular after playing a stiff shaft? I dont really want to loose accuracy, but who doesnt want to hit it a bit further?!?!? I know that every manufacturer is different, but maybe it's just my ego...
7. Yes, that is a huge help. I think Im sticking with my orignal order of the Nickent 20 degree in a stiff shaft for those tight short par 4's..
8. I just recently switched to a regular shaft in my driver and improved my launch angle and carry...etc. Should I also be looking at a regular shaft for say a 20 degree hybrid?
9. I hit it today and was really impressed. Was wondering if anyone else has and what they thought of it?
10. Where in Boston is the demo day?
11. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it! Do you think the Titleist DEMO road show will have a launch monitor? I love the R7 425, best driver I've hit, but I really want to get a Titleist driver this year.
12. Im waiting for the Titleist road show to come to my local course so I can get fitted, but since I play the R7 425, I'm looking forward to trying the smaller D3. I hit the D2 and really liked it, but would like to hear what you guys think about the two? I did see the review on this site and it was helpful, but would like to hear from other who are already playing these drivers. Why did you pick one over the other?
13. http://www.onpargps.com/ Well, I just ordered one. Being in IT, I love gadgets, but I know better never to buy the first version of anything new, but couldnt help myself here... My plan is to sell my SG5 which still has a subscription until Sept. on ebay if the ONPAR is all it's supposed to be. I will be playing in Myrtle Beach in two weeks and will post a review on this thread.
14. I just started using my new Igolf caddie II and love it so far, but I was wondering if you guys know how to figure layups to fairway bunkers, water etc...? My friend's skycaddie will show hip layup yardage with a cool looking picture of the bunker or water lay up. It even shows how much to a 90 yard layup one one of the par 5's on my home course.. Can someone please explain step by step procedures on how to get this infor out of the Caddie II? Can it eve be done? THANKS!
15. WELL SAID! If you're not a single digit, below 6, you have no business playing blades...it's just an ego thing. Most of the guys I see play blades shouldn't...
16. So did I read that correctly, a 13 handicap is thinking about going to Q-school???? LOL!!! Sorry, that's just too funny!
17. I use the Project X 5.0 in my callaway X-20 tours. At first I was wondering if they were going to be too whippy, but after speaking to Callaway directy,I was told 5.0 are like regualr flex. Anyway, I love the shafts and iron now!
18. I was wondering if anyone has ever been to one of these? $375.00 is kind of steep, but... http://www.pelzgolf.com/pelzgolf.aspx
19. If so, how do you like it? Pros and Cons...
20. I've used an interlocking grip for putting ever since I started playing and was wondering if anyone else does? I'm think about going to the overlap...any thoughts?
21. Okay, it's been happening a lot more than I'd like when I'm around the greens in heavy rough and I'm trying to play a flop shot with my 60 degree wedge... Actually, it's happened even when I'm not trying to play a flop shot, just a chip. I think it's because I'm not breaking my wrists when I take the club back. I've been using more of a putting stroke with no wrist cock and I think it might be why, but was wondering if anyone has any insight\suggestions...thanks!
22. Why are so many people suggesting a driver?!??!?! You should not be hitting DRIVER at ALL! If you just started, you should not be playing courses that have 440 yd par 4's...ETC. You should be playing executive courses or even par 3 courses. I'm 36 years old and a 7.8, and started playing when I was 23, and if I had to do it all over again, I would have started from the GREEN back.
23. I would invest in lessons first by doing a google search for the best reviewed teaching pros in your area. I would also NOT play pro v's unless you don't mind throwing money away. Like you mentioned, when you begin you can not tell the diffeence between a PROV & Pinnacle. As for clubs, I would invest in hybrids. You shouldn't be hitting anything higher than a 6 iron right now. Good luck!
24. I always carry power bars, Advil & Tums. You don't want to be stuck out there for 5 hours with a pounding headache and or heartburn..
