  1. I know that buying a new club generates a pretty amazing feeling of elation. The hardest thing about purchasing a "used" club is that it isn't as cool to talk about it. However, celebrate the great deal you get. For instance, "I paid $65 for this club and just two years ago it was selling for over $300!"
  2. Congrats on the new clubs guys. Some fantastic prices and opportunities out there. Always glad to hear about them. I suspect there will be deals on lots of clubs just after Christmas. However, for someone looking for a new set, I have a set of Ping Eye 2's available in time for Christmas, Thanksgiving even.
  3. I hit my 3wood about 450 yards a few times in a row the other day...at the municipal airport. As for the Superfast....too light - no feel for me - but, to each his own.
  4. My experience with a club that sets up open is that I just tended to close the face until it "looks right". I tried all the positions on my Taylormade R9 since it has the adjustable shaft. It didn't make much difference, since I found myself wanting to adjust the face at address. Question: Do you expect to pick up another 15 yards? If not, I wouldn't change anything with your driver, unless you get paid to put it in your bag
  5. My older golf buddies have an issue with my Nikon laser due the trembling hands. However, at 46, I still have no problem with it - and it is accurate to one/half a yard. The most frustrating aspect of it is listening to their protests when I state a yardage and they question its accuracy...because some poorly marked sprinkler head reads otherwise. I prefer it to the gps - I know pin position and exact distance to the flag. Now, if I could get my fade to actually fly to the flag...anyone have an app for that?
  6. With Christmas coming soon, perhaps you are going to gift yourself with some new sticks. If you do, why not let us know what you bought and why, as well as any other interesting aspects of your story. just bought a set of Mizuno mp-58's, 2 degrees upright, +1" am gripping them with Lite Winn grips. Finished the 6 iron - hit it at the range officially loving them. Living in Michigan I am looking forward to playing a little indoor golf simulation with them at Big Al's in Midland. That will have to do until I can travel south for some golf after Christmas.
  7. Watching this video of Scotty McCarron in slow motion, it is apparent his hands are slightly ahead of the ball at impact but the club head quickly passes his hands as he releases. Though I hit the driver pretty well this summer, I experimented with this. The only thing that I discovered was a "hook" when I tried to keep my hands behind the ball at impact.
  8. Pay a quick $49 and have your swing analyzed with a Mizuno computerized 6 iron. Then, focus on getting the proper shaft for your swing. A decent swing and a shaft that works with it and you could play most any iron. I wouldn't wait until you are swinging the driver and 3 iron well. Practicing with poorly shafted irons can cause you trouble - tempting you to "change" your swing on longer irons to control the ball.
  9. New Ping Anser Forged Irons!
  10. I would think your wife would give you hell ---- for chipping golf balls around the house.
  11. I still have a Tour Edge Bazooka 3 wood in my bag that I have played for years. Recently, my wife hit it at the driving range and cracked the shaft after digging it into the tee box behind the ball. Not a problem - shafts are guaranteed for life. Sent it in and got a brand new shaft in it for free. They have earned their place in golf equipment (see article on Golf.com). The reason you don't see their equipment frequently is because they do not pay anyone to play their equipment. The whole commercial thing...sigh.
  12. Though I have a great site of irons (Mizuno mp-58s) and a nice Taylor R9 driver, my 56 degree Cleveland Pearl wins the favorite club award for me.
  13. I'm not sure how a person who sells fake Pings would guarantee you genuine Ping shafts. More than that, how could you trust him?
  14. You could always cover it up with another sticker...
  15. Wonder if they shave irons too? I'm thinking they would have a thin topline.
  16. I'm glad that your wife is enjoying golf. Take a look at the Mizuno MX-1000 irons. They have good feel and are forgiving - great for keeping the game enjoyable. http://www.golf.com/golf/equipment/a...955893,00.html
  17. I just purchased a set of Mizuno mp-58's with the GS95 S300 shafts after being fitted like you. My swing speed is only 90 mph and the stiff shafts produce excellent ball flight. During the fitting, I tried several shafts - none of them were regular. I doubt that you were asked to try any regular shafts during your fitting? One more reason it would seem your fitter inadvertently selected regular shafts for you. Hope to hear it went well for you!
