  2. Hey guys... im not bashing anyone... trust me 0.7 or not we all have struggles ... I can be a +6 on thursday and a 12 on friday.. this is golf.. but no matter the level if your at a point in your game where you want to play a tourney the rules will come.. you will learn as you play just go there and have fun... do YOUR thing get yourself on your autopilot .. if your a 10 get in your 10 auto pilot.. we all hit in water and will have to drop now is your chance to say hey is there a drop what are my options from here? trust me.. your playing partners and caddies will be more than happy to assist... no matter the level ... after all it's a competition but remember they can't advise on what to do but they can tell you the options... if your at tourney level your past the point of green.. you may be tourney green but your not green at golf... tourney golf is "real" golf.. no gimmies.. no lie adjustment you land in divot your in a divot... and you play by the rules that everyone knows but in casual play does not abide by.... tourney golf is 90% mental and thinking that way you say I know where my shot is going each time? listen you know what makes me a 1 not a 10? my mind frame.. I hit the ball no better than you can.. I just do it 9/10 times... a 10 thinks about bad shit that can happen during this shot... im on tee 1 in tourney my mind looks where I want to land.. if I top the ball and it go's in the water then I figure out where to drop and move on now im hitting 3... I don't think oh shit now im hitting 3 I gotta get close to the pin to save par... I mean the goal to begin with was to hit it near the pin right? now I go putt if I make it I'm good... if not I got bogey and move on.. now hole 2 I look at landing and hit it there.. now I get up and hit a great 8 into the green and drop a 12 footer now im back even no difference and you can't change your mood... I went from a 18-1 in a year... I mean I played my whole life had highschool medals jr medals then I owned a business and decided to get back into it competivily last year around oct... my first tourney last year I shot a 90.. in am tour... now im in 70's all the time... Ive moved up from starters tour im in all scratch divisions.. im just sharing what helped me turn the curve from a 10 to a 1.... it's mental at this point... your capiable of hitting the same shots I do... a pro told me today.. the lowest rounds are the most boring rounds... figure 260 down middle straight, 170 in, 2 putt go.. maybe birdie 2 or 3 holes maybe 6 but it looks and feels boring no effort... thats the next mental attitude im going to try.. see if it lowers it...
  3. If your mind is on proper drops before you go into a tourney ... Chances are you should not be in the tourney... Your mind needs to be on CM I know I'm playing well when it feels like auto pilot I have a sniff a birdie nearly every hole and pars are very routine My mind leading up is getting myself on auto pilot... I want to play the higher percentage shots and my goal is regulation and I want to birdie 1 par 3 and two of the 5's if I can do that I'm 3 under Generally every course is set up to pretty easy fir/gir Now pick your 3 birdie holes the rest is auto pilot.... Now what drops and why would that be on your mind?
  4. 75 tips 79 tips 78 middle 75 front 79 front 69 tips 77 tips 74 tips Ehhh almost there....
  5. The problem is guys have ego's they may have once accidentally hit a ball 280+ now they re long ballers ion their head... You see it all the time... Same guys who hit a drive 240 but make you wait cause they are getting home in 2 on a 570 par 5 with a 2 iron... Do the math.... Here is the rule of thumb... Go to front tee... No such thing as senior , champ blah blah... It's front middle back and sometimes tips... Now play front til you can break 80 then move to middle ... So on so forth.... Never move til you can break 80 there is no reason and the pace of play would move faster.... If you can play tips then you can play fronts middle backs.... There is no reason to be the macho one... I would never suggest anyone over a 6 handi to play anything farther than 6500 yards..... Here is how to think it... There is 300-1000 yards difference between fronts and tips.... That's 4-15 strokes on a good day based on yardage alone on a 10 handi,s good day..... Scoring is 150 and in..... I hit 290+ and I use a driver maybe 8 times during a round... Sometimes your landing is not a driver shot... That's the difference between a 3 handi and a 14 handi... Think of the game.... That's when short tees are fun Bottom line if your not shooting in the 70's you have absolutely no business on anything other than the front tees
  6. As a +handi you should be able to play all tees if your with a group of double digits hell even a 8 or 9 handi move up... Otherwise your just punishing yourself .... Remember in tourney play we play one day tips one day middle one day short
  7. Just got the book last night on the iPad .. your right very easy read... I'm a little more than half way through and it's a very good read.... going to to a playing lesson with coach today... who ever said PGA swing with mid handicapper mentality kind of hit me on the head.... I need to bring my mentality to where my ball striking ability is.... on practice rounds I can shoot great... I can hit shots that I picture and they all work... put me under pressure and my mind messes with me... not that I can't do it.. but the desire to win is overcoming the natural ability I have.... I need to fight that strong... I think your all right.. time will help .. and just putting myself in those situations more than once a blue moon.. I need to play tourney gold weekly and then get a feel and experience... thanks again guys... shorty pffft....
  8. Harmonious that's the mindset I need... I can play well strike well but I lose it then lose judgement I need to overcome that... Solid advice
  9. my original post is asking what do you do.. what is your train of thought.. we all know we are supposed to get over it ... but how.. is that alone what separates the PGA pro's from the mini pro's?
  10. I don't remember asking you if you thought I would make money playing golf... and I think you misunderstood my post.. evidently you don't comprehend your reading as well as you strike a golf ball.. as you said the past is the past and we all know to forget it.. but with any sport.. how? any tricks of the trade Mr. Tour player. you have made some good points in the post aside from making sounding like an a**hole but it is what it is.. 3 types of people you saying I would never make money playing golf is one of the dumbest statements I've heard ... have you heard the expression HWPO
  11. Introduce myself ... Name is Chris.. from Las Vegas ... AM Tour player.. handi 3.4 home course is Spanish Trail CC very competitive and since october been playing in tourneys and goal is a mini or higher ... I have been a pro athlete before so I'm not a 30 year old coming from the couch to the range... I've been playing since I was 6 and stopped after high school to pursue owning my own business and a careare in teaching jiu jitsu and pro MMA .... I picked the clubs back up daily in october and was around a 20 handi and have dropped it to a 3.4 since then... anything else you want to know about me just ask... anyways I'm coming off of 2 wins on the am tour and yesterday we had a tourney at a course I was not able to get in a practice round at due to scheduling conflict... anyways as I sit and think back to losing my cool it was the first hole.... score was par 5 my score was 5 but thats not the issue.. the issue is I was 12ft from pin lying 2.. so yes I 3 putted from 12 feet... it's not that I can't putt i just hit a bit hard on first put and put it 12ft past hole.... half rolled my 2nd putt and tapped for a 5 .... I think what made me lose it was on my walk up to the green I was already worst casing myself into a birdie and going for the eagle ... then I half way recovered on 3,4, then 5 was a short cut 334 par4 for and I pushed the drive could not find then had to play provisional and bogeyed it... now I'm steaming and could not regain composure until hole 10 and went nearly flawless on back with an eagle ..... heres my question.. for someone who wants to play competitive and take it to next level and next level ... how can I overcome this frustration of I gotta get that stroke back I lost there or there... what can I do?
  12. I'm all over... I'd say Rhodes is my home course.... but I'm all over.. what about you?
