  2. Any one tried this gadget, or anything like it? Does it work?
  3. Has anyone tried this? No, I have no connection to this company. I was just curious. http://www.docsgolftips.com/IST-300_pic.html
  4. New PB. 79 at Indian Valley in Burlington, NC. 12 bogeys, but a tap in birdie and an eagle from 155 helped a lot. best score since my return to golf after 12 years off......
  5. Exactly!!! Who cares what it says on the sole??
  6. Didn't mean to kick over an anthill. Yes, I did, infact, want opinions on whether the new tech may help me in some areas, and what recs, if any, you all had. I like my Berthas. But an extra 5 to 10 yards per club wouldn't hurt my feelings, either. And i am aware of juiced lofts, with lower cg's. i really don't care, though, if my new tech 7 iron has the shaft length and loft as my old 6 iron, as long as the trajectory and ball flight are similar to that of my 7 with the added distance. (with out a sacrifice in accuracy). And, with all due respect to Old Timer, I expect there are better irons out there FOR ME. And that is the advice and info I am after. A buddy of mine is trying to steer me towards Rocketbladez. I am not keen on the look, but i wasn't keen on the looks of their fairway woods, and I KILL them. I can adjust to that. Leaning more towards JPX 800 right now. The reviews are more than solid, and they fit the budget. Would love to play more of a 'player' iron, but my game is just not there, yet. The JPX 800 seems like a good compromise. Thoughts?
  7. Choke down just to fill the so called gaps, is all. And I have been looking at the 800's on e bay. But I will need to be more consistent striking the ball before i go to something like a 64.
  8. Alas, those those may not be in my budget. And my sticks don't have to be brand new. The x hots are sweet, though. Hoping to hit the 825's soon, and look for a deal.....
  9. I have swung the x hot and Burner 2.0. I did notice a distance increase, (simulator) but attributed it to the lofts. Thing is, though, if i hit a "new' 6 iron (with similar length/loft as my old 5 iron), and get the same distance as my 5, but with a higher ball flight, is that a bad thing? I have read that the 'new' irons also create gaps in my bag. Not overly concerned, as choking down will handle most of that problem (I think), but I have read others have serious issues with this. Also, any recs on what to try?
  10. I play 2004 Berthas, and have been pretty satisfied with them. BUT.... I am wondering if I am missing out on the new tech, particularly in terms of distance. I am wondering if I can make an improvement, with out busting my wallet. Game improvement irons will still be in my bag for the forseeable future. Any thoughts?
  11. Ok, the problem may be one of wording. To me, Jordy, you are not describing a slice. You seem to have developed a case of the shanks. You are hitting the ball where the face meets the hosel. I have been there before. i got so frustrated i quit playing for 12 years.. Just got back into it 6 months ago. There are many ways to work your self out of this. Start by hitting half wedges on the range. Don't worry about how far, etc. Just make contact. Concentrate on hitting down, swing easy. I am only guessing, but i expect part of the problem is tension. release the death grip on the club. Think smooth. Think contact. Others here may have better ideas..... But I think the low, rolling shot to your right is a shank, and not a slice.
  12. Lash, unless you are super short, accuracy wins, hands down....... And golfers tend to be just like fishermen in some respects. ;)
  13. it depends on the hole. Yesterday, short was BAD. Tomorrow, long might be. I used play a club less and allow for a potential miss hit. Now, as I get to hitting a bit better, i will occasionally 'flush' one, and the result is often quite a bit long. My bad habit is a scoop, and i still do it sometimes. But, the difference between a scoop and a flush can easily be 25 yards. Truth be told, I get satisfaction out of those shots, though they are errant, because I at least hit the ball well.
  14. I am kind of inconsistent. As I get to hitting the ball better, I have some difficulty clubbing. And while 25 yards is a bit of an exaggeration, I have been long by as many as 20 yards over expected distances the last 2 rounds. When you set up for 125 and hit it 145, it can be a problem... But, a problem I don't mind having. Generally, setting up for 145 and hitting it 125 is worse......
