  1. just realized today is Wednesday, its the pro am today, not thursday. i am a moron!
  2. anyone know if you can watch live on the website? they have a "featured group" up on their website, with Jason Day, Tiger Woods, and Patrick Reed; however, it doesn't say anything about watching their round.
  3. I've been playing golf more consistently lately, but the one thing that i am still really bad at is my chipping and pitching. I've gotten to the point I can shoot low-mid 80s, but also will have some rounds where i shoot low to mid 90s if i start flubbing some chips. last night i played and was hitting my irons and driver really well. on the back 9 i drove a short par 4 (280) and made the putt for eagle, then on the next hole actually stuck it close for birdie on a par 3. I missed the green on the next 2 holes, and bladed a chip over the green OB, then hit the next one fat and flubbed it a few feet. This happens consistently and it drives me nuts. I could have had a really solid round but ended up shooting 86. I've watched plenty of youtube videos and tried some techniques, but for some reason it must be mental but i just can't do it. I always hesitate before my down swing and am afraid to put too much of a solid strike on it because i'm afraid i'm going to blade it or something. Has anyone struggled with this, and if so, what did you do to get over that?
  4. yeah, thanks for the advice.. i'll try to hit up the range tomorrow and focus on an even tempo and see if i'm still messing up. if i am i will work on some other things, but usually i can hit them fairly consistent. they aren't always good, but if i make a mistake it's usually a consistent mistake and i know why I did it, the last few rounds it was random, one would go left, one right, then i'd chunk it, then left again. and i noticed i feel like th elast few rounds i've been trying to muscle it i think and hit harder and swing faster for some reason. not sure why. i know i've been working out a lot more lately, and maybe subconsciously i'm trying to hit it farther and harder for some reason.. when i need to just focus on a nice smooth swing
  5. yeah, i'll try to see if i can find someone with a camera and borrow it to take a video... i feel like the problem definitely could be me rushing things and getting ahead of myself.. i feel like i'm trying to hit it too hard and possibly getting out in front of myself.. i'll try to hit the range tomorrow and practice not hitting as hard and see what happens.
  6. I'm having trouble hitting my irons consistently. I think I may be trying to hit them too hard, and i'm hooking them left. Sometimes they are good, sometimes they aren't. I have just started to think about it more and have noticed that I am swinging pretty hard when I hit my irons, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not? how hard am I supposed to be swinging on iron shots? am I supposed to just take a nice easy swing in rhythm, or am i supposed to be putting some muscle in to it? it just feels like a natural reaction for me to try and make sure i get enough power behind it. I notice that i can hit my short irons a good distance considering how small I am, but the lack of accuracy really bugs me. My PW goes about 120 my 9 iron about 135 or so, and my 8 iron is about 150-155. On a scale of 1-10 though how hard do you generally swing on your iron shots? I'd say I'm probably swinging at about an 8 on a consistent basis which is what might be my problem? I'm sure I have more than 1 problem with my swing because I know i'm not that good :) haha, but i am really curious about swing power on iron shots. i played 2 rounds today at a local course ( you can pay and play as much as you want) shot an 86 the first round with a few mulligans. played the 2nd round completely legit, no mulligans, took drop penalties etc. and shot an 89 which is good for me, however, that was because i was getting really lucky off the tee and on the green. my putter was working a lot better then normal, and my drives were really long and straight which it normally isn't. my irons though killed me. i couldn't hit with any consistency, which is what lead me to think about what i was doing differently, and the more i thought about it, i noticed i may be trying to hit my irons harder then other shots, and that may be the problem Thanks for any input :)
  7. thanks.. my total didn't come out to that much... i just left the standard grip because my grip size is normal, and the shafts depending on which ones i pick don't add much, i just don't know if i should go steel or graphite and which company makes the best shaft? so many options i need 4iron - pw. and the configuration i have now is 180.94 i have a 3 hybrid i would use, so i don't need a 3 iron in the set. these were just one of the clubs i was looking at since i'm not the greatest and i'm on a budget. i'd like to spend UNDER 300 on clubs.
  8. Hey, i was looking to get a new set of irons. possibly the acer high trajectory irons that got rated good. My main concern was what shafts and stuff i should get? I was looking at getting them from Hireko golf, and they have online custom fitting and stuff, but when it gets to shafts, there are so many different brands and types and stuff i am going crazy trying to figure this out. I am 24 years old, 5'5 125 pounds. i went to golf galaxy and hit on the ball launch monitor and they claim that my swing speed was anywhere from 79-86 mph. usually it was around 82-84 mph. Would I want steel shafts or graphite shafts? are steel more accurate? and which flex would i want from my shafts? light, regular, or stiff? i assume it's not stiff because of my slow swing speeds, but I don't know. any help with club length, shaft suggestions and the like would be GREATLY appreciated. thank you! :)
  9. has anyone tried these irons? the Acer XK High Trajectory Iron? The regular version apparently won an award in golf digest for best value. they claim the high trajectory irons are the easiest to hit of the group, which would be nice for me. I'm a beginner to intermediate golfer. i shoot anywhere from 84-94 on any given day. i usually shoot high 80's to low 90s. My current set of irons now is the set i bought when i first started playing 4 years ago. its some really cheap off brand set of clubs. ZIII irons or something, haha. I was looking to upgrade because my clubs are starting to mess up.. my 7 iron and my 5 iron sound really hollow when i hit them now, and they feel weird when i hit them. and my 4 iron club head is slightly turned after i chunked a shot awhile back, so its time to upgrade! i was looking at brand name clubs that would be good for an intermediate to beginner, but they are expensive, and i would't know which set to choose, then i came across these in golf digest, and they are pretty cheap. Sounds like something i could hit easily and would work great. has anyone else tried these? and if so, what website should i order these from? there's so many websites that offer them, and i'm not sure which one to choose. Is there a specific one that offers these that any of you have ordered from before that you know is a quality company and offers good products? thanks in advance for all the help and suggestions :)
  10. i play the E6 golfball from bridgestone and i love it! i get really good distance off the tee with it, and it's supposed to fly straighter then normal balls, which helps with my swing a bit
  11. i'm looking for a couple hybrids as well. i might have to hit some of these and try them out
  12. shot an 87. which is decent enough for me i guess. thats about my average.. but it was really frustrating i started off par, bogie, par, birdie, par even through 5 holes!! finished the front 9 only +3 but then i completely blew up on the back 9. started double double, bogey, double. hahaha it was over after that :)
