  1. Erik, Not to piss you off, but check out my zip code, 85617 Phoenix is usually 10-15 degrees warmer, and everyone there is hiring. ( And they have some killer courses!)
  2. As was pointed out above, I don't know much about terminology. I love to play golf, but have rarely talked to much of any one who knew anything about it. Can you describe, what is a low kick point shaft? And I'm not real clear on how to put down an ascending swing? The only time I've ever swung in front of a "Pro" he told me that I looked "like a monkey screwing a football." My clubs were too short ( I stand 6'4" ) So I had them all extended. I don't know if it helped, but they are a lot more comfortable now.
  3. My weight, I think, ends up on my front foot. I don't have a problem hitting the #3, 5 or 7. In fact, I used the #3 off of the tees for several years, because I can't seem to get much airtime when using the #1. But the last few weeks, I've been forcing myself to use it off of most tees, I'm just not seeing much improvement.
  4. Can someone impart on me the secret to being able to hit with a #1 wood driver? I usually hit mine 125-175 yards, but it hits the ground right about the red tees and then rips down the center of the fairway. I've tried lining the ball up on my front foot, my back foot, Teeing higher and lower. The results are the same, worm burners that never clear the ground by more than 5' unless they hit a rock.
  5. I didn't manage to dominate anything this morning. In fact the #12 par 5 nearly whipped my ass. I was laying 3 when I finally got past a hateful little mesquite, just past the red tees. It was probably only the second or third time I ever got to play a full 18. I had a wonderful time, despite that one tree that kept catching my ball and throwing it back behind me. I even found a ball that I lost last Tuesday! I ended up with an 86, not to bad for no more practice and experience than I have.
  6. Tom, I've gotten to the point I just turn off the cell on #1 and check messages when I finish. That phone had a thing for going off on my back swing. I put down a new tile floor in the kitchen yesterday and told the wife it would be noon before I could step on it to install the last few cut pieces. She just smiled and said "It looks like you'd better go play golf in the morning while you wait" She's a good wife!

    What a shot!

Last Thursday, I hit a wedge from 40 yards, it took a little bounce and roll. Then dropped into the cup. I'll take those birdies any day! But I paid for it last night. 90 yards out and one small over hanging limb. The ball landed 30 yards behind me, and behind a row of the only evergreen trees on the course. I ended up with a 9 on that par 5. Did I mention that I hate trees?
  8. I have found that a few ice cold Miller High Life's can really help my golf. They keep my handicap 3.5 points higher than it would be if I didn't drink on the course. I don't often bet on a game, but if I do, the only sure bets are that we will use handicaps, and I won't drink until we are done.
