  2. I used to "work" the ball a lot more when I was a higher handicap. It was fun to try and hit high fades into greens or draw the ball around a tree. Now, I hardly ever try and do anything special with the ball other than low punch shots. I am out for the best score, and I can't consistently hit a fade. I know how to hit most every shot, but my success rate is pretty low with anything but my stock shot. If there is a pin placement that suits my natural shape (draw) I will try and go after it, if not, I go for the center of the green and try to make par.
  3. I have had more scrambling pars that I would like, but I had a pretty good one my last round. We had a pretty good bet going into the 6th hole. It's a 311 yard par 4 and plays way downhill with a small green and a creek in the front. During the summer they really let the rough grow out so a miss to the left of the green if you are going for it really makes it a tough up and down. However in the winter, with the rough dormant, you can go at it all day long and a miss left wont hurt. I hit a 3W and instead of a miss to the left, I snap hook it off the planet OB. Re tee thinking I am out of the hole and then knock it to about 2 feet. Made the putt for par and pushed the hole. The reactions I got out of the group were better than the par.
  4. My club is pretty small. Something like 180 members. It is pretty tough to sandbag our club tournaments mainly because the main group plays with each other throughout the year and knows who is capable at what. If you are playing well in a tournament, most of the time you will get heat about being a sandbagger but it is all in good fun for the most part. One thing I have learned in playing with the group that I do. If no one is complaining about your handicap, then you aren't playing well enough.
  5. Shot an 86 today. 38 on front 48 on the back. The back was frustrating to say the least. Two doubles and a triple. Ugh.....
  6. I can't tell you how much I love Shadow Creek but hate that hole. 17 on Shadow has my number. Can't tell you how many rounds I have played there and I think I have only actually hit the green once. Quote:
  7. My home course can be brutal when they roll the greens and let the rough grow out. Hawks Ridge (Par 72) Gold (My tees most of the time): 6781 73.9/144 Black (Not a good idea, ever): 7235 76.2/149
  8. Thanks again for the replies. It is very helpful and gives me something to work on. Iacas - Would you recommend that I just go to a neutral grip and go from there? Also, just so I am clear. At P2, the shaft should be parallel to the target line, and the club face should be perpendicular to the arc of the swing. Does that sound about right?
  9. 58 degree wedge. It's great chipping and out of the bunker, but if I have have to hit a full shot with it, who knows....
  10. Nice. I haven't played Bears Best in a while. I grew up in that area and am out at Hawks Ridge now.
  11. Looking through your thread, it looks like you are from Atlanta. Hope you got out and enjoyed the weather. Are you a member at Olde Atlanta? Swing is looking rea good.
  12. Thanks for taking a look. I will do some reading in that thread. I just uploaded a higher quality video and added some slow motion for easier viewing. Thanks again!
  13. Looking for a little help. I'm really trying to improve my game this year. Distance isn't really a problem for me but consistency is what I am really struggling with. I have a few videos from playing today and am looking for some feedback. I can already tell that I have something going on to start my downswing, and I think quieting my body down a little could help. I am self taught for the most part. Thanks for any feedback.
  14. I was in your position a month or so ago. Hit a lot of different irons AP1, AP2, Nike VR (all of them), etc. I ended up with Mizuno MP53. Switching from a set of G15's, they took a little bit of getting used to. So far, they are amazing. Hit very solid, with a good feel to them, but still retain some forgiveness. They are worth taking a look at. On a side note, to me they are a beautiful set of clubs.
  15. That is a smooth swing. Great tempo. Just looks effortless.
