  1. My swing speed @ Golf Etc. was clocked this morning @ 111 with the driver and around 85 average with the 5 iron. Driver: 265-290 carry according to the LM. I play a power fade which can turn into a slice or even a hook depending how high I tee it. 3 wood: 245-250 off the deck 3 hybrid: 220-230 3 iron: 210 4 iron: 205 5 iron: usually around 195-200, but today on the LM I was carrying 200 6 iron : 185 7 iron: 175-180 8 iron: 160-170 9 iron: 145-155 PW: 120-135 50* Gap wedge: 100-110 55* Sand Wedge: 85-90 Putter: Before I got my Yes! I hit my hippo blade putter 165 down the middle Granted these distances are majorly dependent on the way I'm swinging the club, as is apparent by my handicap, but if I'm on I can go by this pretty confidently.
  2. I've been playing for over 10 yrs now, and shoot in the mid-hi 80's most of the time. I've played with some pretty serious golfers who tell me that my ball flight is way too high. I hit my 9-iron around 150 and my pw 125-130, but the ball always comes in verticle and either plugs or rolls forward a few inches. I don't realy have a problem with this, as it comes in handy going at tucked pins, but in a wind you can imagine the problems I have. The elevation affects pretty much every club in my bag up to my 3 iron. I was wondering if changing my shafts or lengthening at all would help my problem. Here's by setup: I have Srixon 403-AD irons with stock regular shafts at regular length and lie. I usually play a soft ball like the Srixon AD333 or Z-URs. I have a pretty steep attack angle, but can't seem to shallow it out to hit a knock-down at all. I've been contemplating going to a stiff or x shaft (3-wood swing speed of 109+) but don't really have the money to upgrade at this point @ around $30 a club for new shafts and grips. Thanks for your help, and don't ask me how high I hit a sand wedge
  3. I play all of my golf at public/municiple courses, basically because that's what I'm willing to pay for golf. I'm a fast player. I can ride 18 if I don't have to stay on the path in under 2 hours if I'm playing well. My most agrivating experience lately came at the course I play most often. It was cold so the 4-some in front of me had those stupid cart heaters and enclosures. I was playing in short sleeves. The refused to let me play through the whole front 9, and as a result I started playing 2 balls on a few holes. What made me the maddest was that there was no-one in front of them. I was the second off the tee that morning. They wouldn't let me play through, and then at the turn, they told the starter that I couldn't play in front of them because I was playing 2 balls and would hold them up. I just about lost it. I demanded on got my 9 hole rain check, but haven't been back to that course yet. I know we all have tons of stories about the horrible slow play, but I think that the biggest problem with it is pride. I'm 22, and most people middle aged (40-50) resent the fact that some punk "kid" is pushing them down the course, so instead of letting me play through, they'll slow down. I've seen it happen dozens of times, and have had by drives stepped on, kicked into the rough, and even just picked up on several occasions. I would think that by the 5th time I'm rolling it up next your cart after your second shot, you'd let me play though and get rid of me. That mentioned, I'm not at all adverse to joining up with people. I recently moved to my area, and don't have a group that I play with, so I usually start by myself. If it's a slow day and I catch up to a 2 or 3-some I'll join up, but I play my best golf when I play fast and by myself.
  4. If you watch the Golf Channel during the day you see tons of infomercials for swing training aids. I was thinking about trying the dual hinge driver, but wonder if anyone has experience with these or any other popular aids. I don't have the time or the money to have regular lessons with a pro.
  5. Somewhat along the same lines as the last post: I had just gotten new clubs (Nickent GH Plus irons) and took them to the range the same day. I'm not sure if it was too hot in my trunk or what, but I pulled out the six iron and took a nice cut at the ball. Suddenly the club felt really light in my hands and I looked down the range to see the head of my six iron bouncing 120 yards away. The ball went about the same distance. Needless to say I got all the heads on those irons reglued for free at Nevada Bob's.
  6. Actually I have ways of getting my hands on the real deal. But you're right; Mrs. T's just don't cut it.
  7. I think that your confidence in your putter makes a heck of a lot more difference than the actual brand a price. I recently changed because I just didn't feel good standing over putts with my old $20 hippo putter. It wasn't the putters fault, I just needed a change of scenery. I upgraded to a Yes! Tiffany putter, and have hit some putts with it that even surprised me, so my confidence with the club is great right now. If you can find a $10 putter that instills confidence in your when you line it up, by all means go for it. When it's time to change you won't feel it in the wallet as much. There are lots of stories from around the Tour where guys change putters in the middle of tournaments, and even barrow them. Like I said. It's all about feel.
  8. I'm using the Srixon W-506 driver 9.5* with a stiff Graffaloy Pro Launch Blue shaft. I fell in love with Srixon while using the 403 irons. Just recently upgraded from the 302 driver to the 506. The club looks great at address and I'm consistently hitting the ball around 275 -280. not as forgiving as other clubs but will take a draw if I get my swing working right. If you chance by a retailer who actually carries Srixon products give them a try. You won't be dissapointed.
  9. My first post! I'm a homeowners insurance adjuster with one of the larger companies in the country. I should have more time for golf, including forum browsing, but work is pretty hectic, and has been since around last November.
