If you're going to cut a shaft down, I'd recommend a trip to Home Depot. Buy a pipe cutter, it'll make your job much easier. You can also pick up mineral spirits, it does that same thing as 'grip solvent'...and it's a little cheaper. Good luck and enjoy! Once you start tinkering, you're not going to be able to stop.

Titleist 904F Fairway Metals
Putt4doh replied to TitleistHOG's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm pondering a move the 904's as well. I hit my PT 15 very high and with tons of spin. I'm considering a 13deg 904. Just curious...those of you with the a 904 what shaft/loft combinations are you playing? Thanks! -
leave clubs in trunk in hot weather?
Putt4doh replied to luv2golf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The only thing you need to be careful about is the ferrules....the little plastic ornament above the club head. They can expand and then begin to slide around. Not a big deal, but I take my clubs out just in case. -
Does anyone have any info on a Mizuon combo set of MP 30 and 37/33 instead of the 32's? The guys at my local shop say the 32's go with the 30's but I prefer the look of the 37/30 combo. Any incite out there? Thanks in advance.

I can't tell from their website... Does anyone know which Mizuno's match up with the MP-30's? The MP -33's or MP-37's?
-
I appreciate all the advice....I stopped by my local golf shop today and hit some clubs. I've ruled out the Hogan FTX's, not nearly as sweet as some others. I particularly liked the new Mizuno MP-32's which I'm a little surprised about. I still like Titleist as well. In either case, I'm looking at doing a mixed set of irons (690mb/cd or MP32/30 or something like it). Of couse, I can just stick with what i have.....but what fun is that? Anyone out there hit the new Wilson Fi5's?
-
I've always been a fan of the look of Mizuno's. I've only shyed away b/c they're standard set up is rather flat. I'm taller and play at least a few degrees upright in just about any set. How is Mizuno about adjusting their lie angle? Can they go 3-4deg upright?

Ok, I'm about ready to swallow my pride and trade in my trusty old forged blades for a combo set. I've been asking myself: Do I really need a forged blade in the 4i? Am I really going to work the 3i left or right? The answer is probably: no. I'm not qualifying for a tour anytime soon, so why not make the game a little easier on myself, right? So my questions for the forum: Does this sound like reasonable logic? and What combo sets are out there? I've looked into the Hogan Apex FTX, thought about a 690mb/cb set up...thinking of waiting for the 735... Any suggestions out there? Help.

You gotta love the Euro Tour! Great players, great locations, and great golf....those guys are good! And who doesn't love Renton Laidlaw(sp?)?

I think it's the same slideshow.....look-a-like photo shoot or not....I'm still a fan!

I've got a terrific PPT slideshow that's a must for all fans of Mrs. Woods. If you send me your email and don't mind seeing her very private tattoo(and more), I'd be happy to share it.

BTW, who is that in your avatar?

There's 2 things I cant think of.....first off, check the lofts on each set of irons. I'm willing to bet that the LT2's have weaker lofts than the RAC combo's....more loft, the easier it is to get the ball in the air and less distance. That being said, it's probably more due to your shafts. My understanding of RP's Project X shafts is that they're all frequency matched in a set ( I think RP calls it 'flighted'). I know you can order the Rifles flighted (for an upcharge) but I'm pretty sure that not all Rifles are flighted. Did you get the Rifles in a set 'flighted' from RP? The more likely explanation....check the length of your shafts. Your old set may have been longer in each respective iron. I'm real curious...let us know what you find out!

My buddy as ESPN says that IMG couldn't work out everyone's schedule.....basically he says that Vijay had a conflict....who knows....he probably has plans to be on the range that night

.....worst golf movie of all time---Caddyshack 2.

I'm with you Rafcin...the biggest difference I've found between steel and graphic is weight and to a lesser degree ball flight. With today's technology in graphite, they can build a shaft to do whatever you need it to... That being said, play whatever feels better without sacrificing distance or accuracy.

Both of Mark Frost's books are terrific! I would highly recommend them both. That being said, my rule is to always watch the movie first then read the book...if I haven't read the book first. My reasoning is simple: the movie is never as good as the book(few exceptions); if you see the movie first--most likely you'll enjoy the movie--then read the book--you'll enjoy the book and it'll make the movie better. If you do it the other way around; you're almost always dissappointed by the movie. That's just what I've found....

The book was great and based on that I'lll probably go see it....but this kid doesn't look a thing like Francis Ouimet.

I struggled with the same questions at the beginning of the season...what to get to fill the gap between 3i and 3w? Since I play a 15 deg 3w, I opted for a 19deg Titleist 503h. Titlest recommends the set up and it's worked well for me. My apologies for being a shameless Titleist guy...

Sorry, no disagreement here. I'm with you and Mark Hensby 100%. I think the media has lost sight that golf is a PROFESSION for these guys...not a past time. About 140 guys on the PGA are fighting every week to earn enough money to keep their job. Is it really fair to hand out an exemption to someone who doesn't have a realistic shot placing in the serious money? Hey PNC Bank doesn't offer a spot in the Pirates batting order to boost attendance, do they? If the media doesn't speak up and champion the cause of the 'rest of field' someone in the top ten should. Vijay? You out there?

Can't beat the Caddyshack Gopher....'I'm alright, don't nobody worry 'bout me....' Sorry I digress. I can't remember if he wanted 1500 or 3000. Either way it was out of my range. I see him at the range at least once a week. If you're still interested, I can ask when I see him again--just let me know. He's a collector and said he has at least 20 or so one of kind Scottys (I've only seen his Newport 2 GSS and Red X prototype).

How in the World is Danielle only 28 years old?
Putt4doh replied to Brando 90210's topic in Golf Talk
Aside from the age question...I'd have to guess she's had some (ahem) frontal augmentation of sorts... Anyone else think it's a little RARE to see a little lady with such large 'tracks of land'? -
I know a guy locally (northern Virginia, US) who's a member and actually got Scotty to build him a custom, hand made GSS Newport 2 as well as a Protoype Red X. Both are GORGEOUS! He also has a Scotty Cameron AOP leather staff bag---not the one Scotty's website. This fella's a collector and was actually selling a Davis Love Newport Beach in the 3x black finish. Davis used this one but didn't like the way it set up...so DL3 sent it back to Scotty and it ended up Northern VA. I'd say membership has it's privelages!

Aren't launch monitor's the best?! People(Johnny Miller) want to blaim the ball for all the distance in golf today. I don't think there's any mystery about why the best players with the best equipment and the best technology (launch monitor) are hitting it a ton! I'm waiting until I can get both the T and S on the monitor before I make an official decision. Although I like the S, who knows?--I may hit the T better. I fight a ridiculously high spin rate (4000+RPM's). I've tried a bunch of different shafts...the Aldila and Speeder play best for me, but I'm thinking of trying a Fuji Vista Tour. I hope the stiff tip and high kick point will help. Unfortunately, Titleist doesn't stock the Vista Tour. To this day, the driver I hit farthest was my 983e 8.5 w/NV 75x. That combo got my spin rate down to 'acceptable' but the launch angle on my misses was a little low 10-11 deg. I'm hoping the new 905s can get my drives out there again...and if not there's always eBay!

I'm definitely considering it. I have a pending warranty issue with a TM 510TP. Once I see what happens with that, I'll almost certainly get one. Interesting about your launch conditions....have you ever hit balls on a launch monitor? If not, definitely do it. It'll really take the guessing out of all the options out there. That being said, I have the opposite problem---I hit it real high and spin it alot. I do all I can to keep it down and spinning less. A driver shouldn't check up should it? : ) I'm not surprised about the NV, I think it's got a high/mid kick point and the (old) YS6 is about the same. I've tried them both and found that the NV 75X got me the best launch conditions. Well, except for the Fuji Speeder 757...but I coulnd't justify $200 difference in the shafts.
