I feel with you on this one! I am fighting the same problem. What helps for me is to have a descending blow on the ball and I do that by aiming just in front of the ball (target side).

Hi All, This is a few shots with a 7 iron. They are DTL view and only in original speed. Whenever I figure out how to do the slow motion, I will add that as well along with a Caddy view (?). I don't have a handicap yet, but I play to a 28-30. My main issues are my iron play. I've read some on the posts on "The Impact Zone" and I'm currently reading the book. My main focus right now is to get the swing dynamics right, hitting 4 inches on the target side of the ball, but I realize I have a long way to go! I've only played golf for about 7 months so I am willing to change anything about my swing. I doesn't really work well at the moment and I really need to know what to work on. I would appreciate any feedback you can give.

I can definately relate to all that - also, my first tee shot is a good indicator of the rest of the round. A good tee shot gives confidence, confidence give full swings, full swings give solid hits and so on..

CR 71.9 & SR139 - Austerlitz Golf Club

Hi, I started playing golf last summer (July 2010) when I was invited to a golf tournament by one of my business partners and you could safely say I've been bitten by the Golf bug! Up until two weeks ago, I was borrowing clubs from a friend, but I finally bought a set of clubs (at least some clubs) two weeks ago. I have a Ping Rapture Driver (12*, Reg, Diamana) that I bought in October in a sale. I have Titleist AP1 Irons (4i to PW). I have two Vokey wedges (56* and 60*) and I have a Odyssey White Ice Rossie Putter (34''). My next purchase is going to be a fairway wood or hybrid (17* - 20*). My major challenges at the moment is that I can barely hit any irons from 4i to 6i (strong draw / hook) and that I do not have any fairway woods. It means effectively I have just a Driver and then the next club I can confidently use is my 7 iron. My putting is not much either, I have a putting average of 2.41. My strong sides are a fairly good and consistent drive (about 65-70% fairways hit and on average 200-210 mtrs) and I play well with my wedges. I typically play like a 29-30 HCP, but I do not have an established HCP yet. Any tips or ideas are welcome! I have to say I appreciate the quality of discussions on this forum, and also in general the mature tone and constructive attitudes of the forum members. Benredik

I started playing golf July 2010 and just got my first set of clubs two weeks ago. 1. Get to a 18 HCP (maybe unrealistic, but it's my target) 2. Play at least 80 rounds 3. Get my putting average to 2.15 (currently 2.41) Main problems right now; - 4i, 5i, 6i has a strong draw / hook. - I have no fairway woods or hybrids which means currently a gap from Driver to 7i that I can hit fairly consistently well.
