Hey I don't blame the doubt at all. Honestly if I hadn't been there, I never would believe anyone that says such a thing. You may be right about him standing deeper but the ball ended up on the green and he smelled terrible the rest of the day from moss and sludge. Regardless if the ball was that deep or not, it was still plenty entertaining to watch. It was deep enough that if he hadn't been drinking I doubt he would have tried.

You hear all the time... He really attacked the pin on that one... In my average round of golf, at the three courses I play consistently, there are a lot of greens that if your in the correct position, attacking the pin can be incredibly beneficial to you. I guess that really goes for any course actually!! My problem is that I want to attack the pin. I am confident in my iron play and my distance is usually spot on. I am tired of always playing for the center of the green when there is no reason that easy pin location couldn't be attacked. The question is... When attacking the pin, what is the easiest way to set your aim for such a small target? Do you aim at the pin or pick something closer on the same line? When I try I feel like I am aimed at it. Make a smooth swing that gives me straight ball flight but my actual aim is off about 99% of the time. I can hit center green but I want to score and get rid of two putt pars from the middle of the green. Ready for some one putt birdies!!!

I carry 5 wedges. 47 pw, 50 gw, 56 sw, 60 lw, 64 lw Funny thing is, on the course I play I have plenty of opportunity to use them all. There are a lot of elevation changes mixed with rather large multi level greens. I know people say set yourself up for your best shot but my set up shot isn't my best shot I guess you could. Therefore I need a club for all positioning around the green.

I watched my dad put a ball on the green from mid shin deep water. It was awful bc he smelled terrible the rest of the round.
-
If it were me, and I am the one that can't put my driver down and started this thread, I would at least take it. Even if your mishits are way left, you could still be left with a long par 5 where you would actually benefit from the extra distance(even 10 yards). But that is just my opinion.

The reason I ask about is that the greens I play on are like glass. There is little to no stopping a ball on these things without some sort of backspin. Most of them are at a pretty extreme angle.
-
Well I guess that would explain why I can't do it no matter what crazy angle I stand and swing from!! The side spin is manageable at least.
-
Over the last month or so, prior to hernia surgery, I was getting pretty good hit a flop shot with an extremely opened up 56 degree(it's all I had at the time). The question is, when opening the face to such an extreme angle for the shot, how do you prevent the massive amounts of side spin I was getting and get more back spin? I can work with side spin but back spin would work so much easier.

Tips to improve consistency

I will post a video of my swing but it may be a week or so. Recovering from hernia surgery the other day. Will post it asap. -
I agree completely with that I guess I just don't have the will power to leave it in the bag. At least I have finally been able to not hit a three wood as my seond shot on every par five. I have gone to more irons to leave myself a distance that I am better with. Have to start somewhere I suppose.

Crazy how that works. The course I have been playing lately is lined with trees or has short fairways that narrow at the landing point for my driver. Its really annoying!! I know better than to hit driver but grab it anyway. Even during my swing I am going, "why am I hitting driver, stop your swing," annnnnnd I hit it anyway. Quiting my driver is comparable to stopping tobacco for me! It hurts to have the high dollar club in the bag. Maybe someday I will learn.

In the normal round, how often are your par 4 tee shots is made with a driver? After I get over this hernia surgery, I am bound to play smarter golf. I think by being smarter about my club choice in certain situations would be a big step in the right direction. How many of you grip it and rip it on every par 4 and 5 with the driver?

I looked up your club, I believe it said that you are only like 35 minutes from me. I may have to get in touch with you after I get over this hernia surgery I just had. I definantly need to get my game back on track after a rough couple of last years. -
My personal opinion is the approach I take. When I'm looking for new clubs, especially drivers I always look at the previous years models. Not only are they so similar to the new ones in most cases, you can usually pick up a new previous year driver for pretty cheap. I play a Taylormade Superfast. Not much different than the 2.0 and got it for 120.00 brand new after trading in my old driver.

The course on Pendleton allows civilians they just have to be playing in a group with an active duty member. I know they have green fees for civilians I'm just not sure if they allow civilians alone. If your ever out this way I have no problem playing golf with a stranger if you need an active duty sponsor. Just give me a couple of weeks because I just had hernia surgery. I'll look that range up. Thanks -

Thanks the ball info. So compared to the pro v how does the I(s) rate? -
Hello everyone. My question is how active in the forums do you have to be in order for your signature and the rest of your profile to become active?

First off thanks for answering the ball question. The course I play on(Marine Memorial on Camp Pendleton) is in a valley and the wind pretty much always blows regardless if it's blowing anywhere else. I've been thinking about switching from the NXT Tour to something else softer feeling. As far as the swing, there are probably so many flaws it would blow your mind. I learned to golf from my dad and he actually had a pro give him his money back after a lesson because he said he no idea how someone could slice a ball that much and he couldnt fix it. Here in a couple of days to a week I'm going to try and get a video of my swing. Was thinking about posting it on here to see what kind of advice I could get. It's only been the last couple of years that my handicap has gone up. Something in my swing fell apart. -
I am located just North of San Diego and was curious if anyone in this area knows of anyone to get lessons from that is left handed? I hate taking lessons from right handed people. Yes I am capable of flipping the advice but I think it may help me get my game back on track if I could have a left handed person give me a couple of lessons. You know something that I could actually see instead of visualizing. Also might as well include this, redirect me if there is a post on it already, how would you compare the NXT Tour to the Callaway I(s)? I think that is what the Callaway ball is called. I've been reading on them and I am thinking about making a switch.

I don't know what my deal is but lately I can not hit this wedge to save my life. Was doing really well with it but woke up one day and could not hit it. This is really aggrivating to me as I love the feel of the wedge and the normal outcome that I have come to expect. Its the only club in my bag that is going straight left.
-
I was playing a par 5 515 yards. Water on the left and sand crowding the green. Was playing pretty good this day and decided to go the long way over the water. Hit a 300 yard drive to literally a foot from the 215 sprinkler head. Was feeling big after the tee shot so I pulled out a five iron and opened a can of man on it. Two hops and down. Double Eagle, with what I would love to say was skill but we all know the truth!! Then I tripled the next hole. Go figure.

My method of chipping I don't recommend for everyone. I'm not that confident with a short pitch or chip. So my method is basically address the ball, with the appropriate club, begin my desired swing saying the entire time, don't hit the tree, don't land in the bunker, don't skull it and kill the guy putting three greens over. Come to think of it, this method doesn't work real well for me!! I'm working on it though. I say this in all seriousness. It's a bad habit of mine.
