I'm NOT a fan of Wie, but I agree with you on this. The players play in groups to validate scores and decisions. If there was a question, it should've been addressed right then. I think she played in the spirit of the game. This ain't a game like football where it's only wrong if you get caught punching someone in the teeth. I wasn't rooting for her, but that's just wrong.

NO. But she did beat some of them big o'l bad men. I would love to see her dominate the LPGA. Why can't she do that first?

The courses are not too short, the sand traps and doglegs are not in the right spot for todays equipment.

One of the main causes of the hooks is, you pull the club inside on the take away. Then you come back to the ball from the extreme inside path. As the clubhead approches the ball it is inside and has a very shallow angle of attack. Then instead of naturally releasing the club, you roll your arms in a attempt to square the face. SNAP HOOK! If I were you, I'd restrict your hip turn as you coil. I feel that is the biggest reason golfers get the club off plane. Hope this helps.

Right elbow - new swing theory?
PowerXSwing replied to RainmanP's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Yeah, it would seem that the quest for the big arch has lead to the flying elbow. It works for them because they come back down the swing plane, where regular guys tend to go over the top from that position. -
Oh and by the way, here are the LPGA stats for driving. 1 Annika Sorenstam 273.7 2 Brittany Lincicome 269.2 3 Sophie Gustafson 269.0 4 Isabelle Beisiegel 265.0 5 Maria Hjorth 263.4 6 Reilley Rankin 263.3 7 Jean Bartholomew 263.1 8 Catherine Cartwright 262.6 9 Heather Bowie 262.4 10 Pat Hurst 261.8 So with the extra 30 yards off the tees, she should hit flip wedges into every par four. Why is she not dominating the LPGA? I'm tired of hearing that 300 yard stuff. I hit one 300 once too.

If she can qualify, I'm all for her playing.

Swing Setter by Leadbetter
PowerXSwing replied to live_riderhd's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
hi Brian, We are in the process of arranging field demos for the PowerXSwing. We've had offers from a few magazines. We're really trying to set something up with Golf Magazine though. Once we get a schedule, we hope to work everybody in. Dan -

If I could run a 90 sec spot and get 500-1000 units sold, I'd be interested. Tell me more about how and who to get in touch with. -

Impact bags and swing sticks?

Yes I'd have to agree with the casting problem. You need to hold the wrist angle longer. The new term going around for this is "stacked". That's when you stay over the ball and let your hands/arms fall down into the slot. You have a great take away, but at the 3/4 position, you seem to over rotate your hips slightly and possibly lock or straighten your right leg. This would cause a very shallow path to the ball. The "extra" hip turn makes your shoulders overturn too. It makes your head go a little up and to the right. That might cause some inconsistent shots. After you get to the ball, that part looks good. You have a very good swing as I see it. Certainly not a 22 handicap swing, more like a 10 swing. You probably don't hit the ball as far as you want or could. Holding the angle of your wrist cock will get you more distance than a great big turn. Dan

If she went through the proper qualifying procedures, I don't see anything wrong with her playing. Then she's fighting for a spot just like everyone else. If you ask the PGA, I'm sure they won't agree. I saw that on TV, and he did a Qback sneak. The difference here is the Qback still got paid. I'm not trying to change your mind, as i don't think I could, I'm only trying to present the other side of the story.

Who it hurts is the young male touring pro trying to make a living. What did Wie do on the AJGA junior tour where she should be right now? Nothing! What did Wie do on the LPGA tour? Not much! What did Wie do on the PGA tour? Nothing! So in short, she hasn't done much to earn the publicity she's got. This is nothing more than rich mommy/daddy pushing their little darling to the front of the pack. All the while female golfers that have worked hard and are more deserving of the spotlight get none. There's your class problem. You all seem to overlook one thing, It's the PGA's tournament. They just use the suckers/sponsors money to payoff the players. PGA runs the show, the sponsors get a tax write off.

1) yes 2) I can't remember the last time the Phoenix Suns picked someone out of the audience to play on the team for a game. Just to hype it up. So you mean it's a publicity stunt? 3) Right...Qualify...sorry they don't. They can't come to my next poor boy club meeting at Burger King. Why does it matter who makes up their club?

I'd say, you can't please all the people all the time. That's a pretty good ratio. As far as 60% off goes, must be used. If it's new, he's quoting the manufacture's dream price. Check out the price first with someone like Golfsmith. Dan

1) PGA for Men players, Lpga for women 2) So by your thinking, should we let Bill from the mail room play? Or the fat lady in the company cafeteria, because she's the CEO's sister-in-law? As long as it's a sponsor's choice? 2b) Augusta, aka "the he man woman hater's club" can do what they want. They have class unlike the sopnsors that try to make a circus of a honorable sport. They don't bend to the PC crowd. I kinda like those guys. I mean, I can't get in either. Know why? Can't qualify! Dan

Not today, Wie shot 4 over 76 in the local qualifier at the Turtle Bay Palmer Course and didn't make it. Dan

I've bought 2 sets of Ping nickel ISI irons off Ebay. Both were exactly as described. Look at the rating of the seller. Don't buy from them if they have bad feedback.

PowerXSwing....what is it?

Sorry all! I'didn't mean to spam, only to inform. Dan -
Don't fold up the chairs just yet. There are plenty of sponsors out there. They sky's not falling. As for Wie, great to hear she qualified to play in at least two events. The point is there are many junior golfers, college golfers and pro golfers that can and do beat her. Why is she given such special treatment? Cause feminists want to see the little girl beat the big, bad men? Yes, I too believe she will win on the LPGA tour.

According to the research we did for the launch of my training aid, there are 24.7 million people in the US that play golf regularly and growing. 37.6 million play 1 time a year. Those exemptions are included in the total number of the field. So yes they do. I feel, and this is opinion, Jack is one of the greatest players in the game of golf. And as one of the greatest, he should know when to step retire. I guess he does, at the British Open Wie hasn't brought anything to the game. I'm sure she's a nice kid. I can find NO evidence of Wie winning or qualifying her way into anything. All she gets is exemptions into tournaments and teams. Fact is she's not earning her way, someone's giving it to her. That some awfully good PR. Dan

Shallowing the angle of attack
PowerXSwing replied to LinksMaster's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I'll take a crack at it. If you have a slightly flat backswing and are steep on the ball, you must be coming over the top a little bit. Even if you don't feel like it, when you start to "unwind your shoulders" too fast, your hips will follow and change the plane of your swing. Take a club and take your stance. Now take a 3/4 slow motion swing and hold it at the top. Hold that plane angle. Now as turn your hips to the left while freezing the club and shoulders. Look back and see how your plane moved to a steep position. Turning early or "spinning out" throws the club off plane, making you steep and pointed left. The only way you can hit the ball straight as you see it is to manipulate the club with your wrists. I'm just guessing but I bet you hit either a boring trajectory left of target or skinned high drifter slightly right. My son had some of the same problems and after the video was compared to E Ells and C Howell, we could really see it. The video was done by Ed Loar of the Ledbetter academy. The pro's are more "stacked" over the ball as they start the downswing. The one thing they seem to have in common is, their hips don't turn much until after they make contact. Do you practice your lobb wedge a lot? That is the typical move used in a lobb of 15yds and in. Sometimes you carry that to your long game. I know that's confusing, but think about it. Hope it helps. Check out my sight if you want. You might find some information that'll help you visualize. Dan -

Hitting off the heel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PowerXSwing replied to olduffer's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
hi olduffer, one major cause of the "S" word or sockets, is your path approaching the ball is too flat and from the inside. If you're anything like me, 5' 8" and roundish, you probably tend to swing around your body and not on plane. Keeping the club on the correct plane is hard to do. Try this, when you take the club back, don't let your hips turn so much. Let your shoulders turn, but try to restrict the hips. The hips, I believe are the foundation of the swing. By over turning the hips you pull the club to the inside and off plane. Once that is done the only two things you can do on your downswing is loop it over the top for the slice or flatten out for the snap draw. If you want, check out my link. It has some pictures of how to keep the club on plane. Let me know if it helps, Dan
